Yet Another Smiths Compilation
From the report: There's another Smiths greatest-hits album in the works; we'd say something about painting a vulgar picture, but that joke isn't funny anymore.
Kill the DJ: The Very Best of The Smiths arrives Oct. 7 from Rhino Records. It's the fifth greatest-hits disc from the indie-rock groundbreakers, who, oddly, only put out four studio albums. We'll leave it up to fans to decide if it's better than The Best of The Smiths, Vol. 1, The Best of The Smiths, Vol. 2, Singles or The Very Best of The Smiths.
Super-fans also have the option to buy it as a two-disc deluxe edition. The expanded set includes B-sides and oddities. The Smiths have only managed to mine that territory for a mere three compilations before this, Hatful of Hollow, The World Won't Listen and Louder Than Bombs. See why that joke isn't funny anymore?
Kill the DJ: The Very Best of The Smiths' track listing is:
Disc One:
Hand In Glove
Reel Around The Fountain
This Charming Man
What Difference Does It Make
Still Ill
Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now
William, It Was Really Nothing
How Soon Is Now?
Shakespeare's Sister
Barbarism Begins At Home
That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore
The Headmaster Ritual
The Boy With The Thorn In His Side
Bigmouth Strikes Again
There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
Panic
Ask
You Just Haven't Earned It Yet Baby
Shoplifters Of The World Unite
Sheila Take A Bow
Girlfriend In A Coma
I Started Something I Couldn't Finish
Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me
Disc Two:
Handsome Devil (live)
Jeane
This Charming Man (New York vocal)
Back To The Old House
These Things Take Time
Girl Afraid
Please, Please Please Let Me Get What I Want
Oscillate Wildly
Stretch Out And Wait
Meat Is Murder (live)
Asleep
Money Changes Everything
The Queen Is Dead
Vicar In A Tutu
Cemetry Gates
Half A Person
Sweet And Tender Hooligan
I Keep Mine Hidden
Pretty Girls Make Graves (Troy Tate version)
Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before

I'm kind of excited about the second discs' live recordings, but that's about it. From the report: There's another Smiths greatest-hits album in the works; we'd say something about painting a vulgar picture... more -

Aaiiieeee ... The legendary Wilhelm Scream.
The Wilhelm Scream is a legendary sound effect first used in the 1951 film "Distant Drums". It's become one of cinema's great sound clichés.
