    • The Cool School

Walter Hopps and Irving Blum's Ferus Gallery was at the center of the art movement in Los Angeles that put the city on the map. With the likes of Andy Warhol and Marcel Duchamp, LA became a refuge for artists that were considered too unconventional for New York's traditional style. This cut down narrated by Jeff Bridges comes from the full length documentary "The Cool School" directed by Morgan Neville. It's a simple process: 1) Empty your pockets. 2) Onto a scanner. 3) Also, smash your face against the scanner. 4) Scan. 5) Upload. 6) Enjoy voyeuristic glimpses into the material lives of designer-y people from around the world. • Spring Summer '08 - Karl Lagerfeld

Being raised around fashion I can not help myself to submerge in the interpretation of its production creative process, the style and design of it. Both my parents were fashion designers and I know how hard is the work that goes behind and around it to produce a single piece of clothe. When I pickup a Collection, everything counts. From the video production concept, music theme choice to the final presentation.

      Great Collection Karl!
      Thanks!

    • Craola Talks About His Move From Graffiti To The Canvas

If you live in LA, you may have seen Craola's (aka Greg Simkins) work on the freeway or bridges by your house. For those that dig pop surrealist painters, you're really gonna dig Greg's illustration and color techniques. • Be Your Own Superhero

Following an unpleasant breakup, a despairing Loren Kreiss penned the dark graphic novelette “The Artifact and the Manipulated Living.” He then asked Mike Lilly, who has drawn for the “Batman” comic book, to illustrate his neo-noir story on 11 panels (one is shown left) that now sprawl across his Chelsea apartment.

That was the beginning of a new niche service that is perhaps the ultimate in rich-geek chic: the ultimate in rich-geek chic: a personalized, high-end comic installed as wall art.

After extensively interviewing a client, Kreiss develops a narrative inspired by the person’s life. Next either he illustrates it, or he handpicks an artist whose style suits the story. Once the artwork is finished, it’s printed onto materials like canvas or giant vinyl stickers that are later installed. The entire process usually takes six months. Kreiss, who is no stranger to the decorating business — his family owns Kreiss Enterprises, a manufacturer of high-end furniture — says a typical customer is a downtown type “who doesn’t take themselves too seriously.”

    • Murakami Louis Vuitton Comercial

Just found this little animation from acclaimed Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami. Apparently this is the first of a number of shorts that are being produced by his animation studio KaiKai Kiki. If you know anything about this guy you know he is a millionaire and can basically do whatever the hell he wants, good to see him finally getting into anime, I can't wait to see the feature he's working on. If your in LA Oct. 29th through Feb 11th make sure and stop by the MOCA to see an exhibit of his work. Just found this little animation from acclaimed Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami.
