Breaking World News: Gas prices too high for P.Diddy, forced to take American Air...
Woe! Woe unto the land, that the great Diddy must lower himself and ride American Airlines because of fuel prices. Thank Lord Diddy that he has made this statement and drawn attention to the little known fact that we are, in fact, suffering from this.
Watching Diddy plea for people to talk to their government in hopes of lowering prices is about as effective as an obese Sally Struther's asking for a dollar to feed the starving children. About as motivating too.
Play on, playa. Woe! Woe unto the land, that the great Diddy must lower himself and ride American Airlines because of fuel prices. Thank Lord Diddy ... more -
Small Girls Become Zucchini-Selling Outlaws
A burgeoning fruit and veggie empire threatens law and order in Clayton, California:
Eleven-year-old Katie and three-year-old Sabrina Lewis have been selling spare melons, radishes, and of course, zucchini from their family garden at a roadside stand on Saturday mornings. Recently, the cops showed to bust them.
"They said traffic was being stopped and then they came up with we can't have a roadside stand and then they said it was a commercial enterprise," said Katie Lewis.
Hilariously, the mayor defends the decision to shut down this tiny lesson in capitalism, preferring to make it a tiny lesson in bureaucracy instead. His defense:
"They may start out with a little card-table and selling a couple of things, but then who is to say what else they have. Is all the produce made there, do they grow it themselves? Are they going to have eggs and chickens for sale next," said Clayton Mayor Gregg Manning.
The mayor later called the girls and their father "self-centered." A burgeoning fruit and veggie empire threatens law and order in Clayton, California: ... more -

Voight Reveals Truth About Obama!
Jon Voight, Academy Award-winning actor and well-known humanitarian, does his patriotic duty in this op-ed by revealing the red (and black) menace that Barack Obama presents to America's easily-brainwashed youth.
From the Washington Times:
VOIGHT: My concerns for America
OP-ED
We, as parents, are well aware of the importance of our teachers who teach and program our children. We also know how important it is for our children to play with good-thinking children growing up.
Sen. Barack Obama has grown up with the teaching of very angry, militant white and black people: the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers and Rev. Michael Pfleger. We cannot say we are not affected by teachers who are militant and angry. We know too well that we become like them, and Mr. Obama will run this country in their mindset.
The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.
The Democrats have targeted young people, knowing how easy it is to bring forth whatever is needed to program their minds. I know this process well. I was caught up in the hysteria during the Vietnam era, which was brought about through Marxist propaganda underlying the so-called peace movement. The radicals of that era were successful in giving the communists power to bring forth the killing fields and slaughter 2.5 million people in Cambodia and South Vietnam. Did they stop the war, or did they bring the war to those innocent people? In the end, they turned their backs on all the horror and suffering they helped create and walked away.
Those same leaders who were in the streets in the '60s are very powerful today in their work to bring down the Iraq war and to attack our president, and they have found their way into our schools. William Ayers is a good example of that.
Thank God, today, we have a strong generation of young soldiers who know exactly who they are and what they must do to protect our freedom and our democracy. And we have the leadership of Gen. David Petraeus, who has brought hope and stability to Iraq and prevented the terrorists from establishing a base in that country. Our soldiers are lifting us to an example of patriotism at a time when we've almost forgotten who we are and what is at stake.
If Mr. Obama had his way, he would have pulled our troops from Iraq years ago and initiated an unprecedented bloodbath, turning over that country to the barbarianism of our enemies. With what he has openly stated about his plans for our military, and his lack of understanding about the true nature of our enemies, there's not a cell in my body that can accept the idea that Mr. Obama can keep us safe from the terrorists around the world, and from Iran, which is making great strides toward getting the atomic bomb. And while a misleading portrait of Mr. Obama is being perpetrated by a media controlled by the Democrats, the Obama camp has sent out people to attack the greatness of Sen. John McCain, whose suffering and courage in a Hanoi prison camp is an American legend.
Gen. Wesley Clark, who himself has shame upon him, having been relieved of his command, has done their bidding and become a lying fool in his need to demean a fellow soldier and a true hero.
This is a perilous time, and more than ever, the world needs a united and strong America. If, God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way.

Metallica to bloggers -- Shut the f*ck up!
Once again, Metallica steps all over teh Internets...no doubt Lars has something to do with this.
The short story, bloggers were brought in to listen to some tracks off of their upcoming album. Then bloggers did what they do best...blogged about the experience. Lo and behold, Metallica issued cease and desist orders claiming that the songs were in a rough and unfinished state and thus shouldn't be reviewed in blog posts. The order accompanied an underlying threat to tarnish each bloggers potential career going forward. Scratch my back and I'll kick you in the nuts, sort of the music equivalent of "You'll never work in this town again!" I suppose.
Wired Listening Post blogger Eliot Van Buskirk notes that if they didn't want the bloggers to write about what they heard, they should've had them sign NDA's (duh!), and aside from that, who invites people who write about music for a living to a listening party and expects them to stay tight lipped? Isn't that the whole point? Once again, Metallica steps all over teh Internets...no doubt Lars has something to do with this. ... more -

Man jailed for faking his death
A Singapore man was jailed for three years after he faked his own death in a civil war shoot-out in Sri Lanka in 1987 to escape his creditors and claim $243,600 in insurance money, a newspaper reported Saturday.
Gandaruban Subramaniam fled Singapore more than 20 years ago -- harassed by creditors and illegal money lenders since the failure of his car rental business -- and moved to London to work as a street sweeper.
The 60-year old eventually settled in Sri Lanka where he managed to obtain a death certificate stating he had been killed in a shootout between government troops and Tamil Tiger rebels, allowing his family to claim on his insurance policies.
But he returned to Singapore a number of times using a fake Sri Lankan passport and also remarried his wife in Sri Lanka in 1994 and fathered a son, their fourth child, two years later.
Gandaruban's scam was discovered by a Singapore lawyer and arrested at Singapore's Changi Airport last October. A Singapore man was jailed for three years after he faked his own death in a civil war shoot-out in Sri Lanka in 1987 to escape his cr... more -

Eating A Reuben Amidst A Crowd Of Protesting Clintonites
May 31, 2008 06:54 PM
When is a Reuben sandwich not just a Reuben sandwich? When one eats it amidst a denizen of rabidly committed, frequently vitriolic, and unapologetically devoted Hillary Clinton supporters.
The scene at Harry's Pub in the Marriott Hotel, downstairs from the site of the Rules and Bylaws Committee hearing, was emblematic of the double-edged sword that has become the Democratic primary. One the one hand was the political passion: the willingness to stand in solidarity over the idea of counting the votes in Michigan and Florida, even if such a protest was scheduled on a Saturday under torrential rain.
On the other hand were the battered emotions: the ardent vows to not support Sen. Barack Obama under any circumstances, the insistence that every insidious rumor concerning the Illinois Democrat was grounded in fact, the belief that the party itself had conspired in an effort to tear down the Clintons.
With half a dozen flat screen televisions turned to CNN, it was not difficult to ascertain just where the political and emotional center of the crowd stood. A table of three women did not deal in discretion. A sampling of their punditry:
"[Obama] is a cult. His campaign is an anti-woman cult."
"I will actively campaign against him."
"You know who is backing him is George Soros. It'll be George Soros, not Obama, who is running the country."
"South Dakota is totally rigged for Obama because of Tom Daschle. Obama's going to win South Dakota because he's buying it and rigging it."
"[Obama] is a socialist! You know what the Nazi Party was before it was the Nazi Party? It was the Socialist Party."
It was not all that different from the mood outside, where signs read, "At least slaves were counted as 3/5ths a Citizen," and some pamphlets detailed Obama's supposed dealings in drugs and gay sex. The latter being handed out by Larry Sinclair, the youtube opportunist who has claimed to have had an affair with the Senator.
"Would you rather have a president who had an affair [Bill Clinton] or one who was a murderer [Obama]?" Eve Fairbanks, a reporter with The New Republic, was asked by one protester.
Back in Harry's, passions did not ebb. Amidst the chatter came raucous cheers for any Clinton surrogate whose face popped up on the television screen. They were countered by derisive boos when CNN cut to a clip of DNC Chairman Howard Dean. It didn't matter what he said. You couldn't hear it over the crowd's hissing.
I approached a group of Clinton supporters sitting at the bar to pinpoint, exactly, the foundation of their emotions. Almost unanimously they agreed that if Florida and Michigan weren't seated in their entirety, they would never vote for Obama.
As women, were they comfortable with a candidate like John McCain who could potentially overturn Roe v. Wade?
"Oh don't pull that argument," said Valerie Duhaime of Florida. "Obama did not support a filibuster of [Supreme Court Justice Samuel] Alito and he was for [Chief Justice] John Roberts before he was against him."
Within the pub's confines, Obama was not the only persona non grata. The media, too, occupied a dark place in the crowd's heart. The group at the bar went through a litany of websites that they no longer read -- including the Huffington Post. "I only watch the BBC," said Duhaime. "We are outsourcing the fourth estate."
Shortly after revealing my publication, I was turned away. No worries, my lunch, a Reuben sandwich, had arrived. I pulled up my chair to the table and sat down to eat. Minutes later a chant began around me.
"HuffPost sucks! HuffPost sucks!" and later, "Fox News, fair and balanced! Fox News, fair and balanced!" I saw an interesting article from Sam Stein of The Huffington Post. So funny and sad at the same time ... more -

Guy uses gun to shoot a hole in wall for cable TV, makes hole but kills wife
Of all the things your average cable guy would use to create the holes in your house for your new satellite service, a .22 caliber pistol wouldn't be my preferred choice.
But Ronald Long did just that. After several unsuccessful efforts to punch a hole through the exterior wall using other means, he picked up the pistol and fired a shot from the inside of his home. He then shot another bullet at the wall and then called to his wife who was outside 'overseeing' the installation. When she didn't reply he ran outside to find her fatally wounded.
Police are investigating the case to see if the hapless Cable TV installer will be prosecuted for his wife's murder. Of all the things your average cable guy would use to create the holes in your house for your new satellite service, a .22 caliber pis... more -

Drunk student swallows house key to keep the party going
One X-ray and a slightly painful trip to the toilet later, and one British student finally unlocked the mystery of what happened to his door key on a drunken night out.
18 year old Chris Foster had no memory of swallowing the 2 inch key and it took his friends and doctors to piece together the events of the previous night.
It seems that Foster's friends had told him he'd had far too much to drink so they were taking him home from a student halls party they were all enjoying. Only Chris don't want to go, and in a moment of drunken 'genius' worked out that if he swallowed his key, they wouldn't be able to get him into his house.
A fellow student tried the Heimlich procedure on Foster in an attempt to recover the key, but it didn't work. Neither did forcing him to drink salt water in a bid to empty his stomach of its contents.
At the hospital, doctors advised him to simply sit and wait for the key to reappear:
"I was given an X-ray and I was stunned when I first saw the key in my stomach but then couldn't stop laughing – even the doctors were sniggering. They just told me to wait for nature to take its course and it appeared the next day. Luckily, I didn't need keyhole surgery."
The key's been given a thorough scrubbing down and is back in use - Chris couldn't afford the £20 his landlord was going to charge him for a new one. One X-ray and a slightly painful trip to the toilet later, and one British student finally unlocked the mystery of what happened to hi... more -
Idiots doing pull-ups on a crane

One quarter of Brits think Churchill was a myth
