La trama è molto complessa, si tratta di vari capitoli che spaziano dalla politica alla religione, all'astrologia alla guerra rivisitando completamente alcuni punti cruciali della storia umana, provando a dare una spiegazione nuova e agghiacciante riguardo a temi come la vita di gesù che sembrerebbero cardini della nostra storia ma che a quanto pare non lo sono... For the first time in American History: War financed by a loan
As Congress tackles the latest "emergency" spending bill for Iraq and Afghanistan, bringing the total to more than $860 billion, Ruth Marcus notes in the Washington Post: "For the first time in American history, every penny of that amount will have been borrowed. For the first time, billions more will have been borrowed to finance tax cuts in the midst of war."
Marcus asks tax historians what factors led to this reversal of one of the fundamental assumptions of American politics: shared sacrifice in wartime. They cite the end of the draft, and the fact that a globalized economy and a more skillful Fed have reduced the fear of inflation that fueled previous wartime tax hikes. But she argues that the biggest factor the is transformation of the GOP since Nixon: "This is the first extended war fought under the banner of supply-side economics." Gas Rising, Station Owners Barrel Toward Bankruptcy
Stiff fuel prices are not pouring cash into the pockets of California gas station owners—instead, they're driving them into bankruptcy. Credit card fees, tanker-load costs, and other rapidly increasing expenses are putting the crunch on retailers, reports the Los Angeles Times.
In LA, where the average retail price is $4.41 a gallon (and the break-even price is $4.62 a gallon), some station owners are voluntarily going without pay to avoid collapse. "In the past four months, 10 of the dealers to whom I supply motor fuel have relinquished to me the deeds to their businesses," a supplier told Congress last month.

Dow Plummets Almost 400
The markets took huge losses today, battered by $139 oil and the worst unemployment report in 4 years, MarketWatch reports. The Dow fell 394.64 to close at 12,209.81, and down 3.5% for the week. The Nasdaq fell 75.38 to 2,474.56, a 1.9% weekly loss, and the S&P 500 fell 43.37 to 1,360.68, 2.9% on the week.
Crude briefly topped $139 and closed up $11.19 at $138.54 as bellicosity between Israel and Iran fueled fear of supply shortages and encouraged the equity selloff. AIG and Intel both dropped after word broke that they were under investigation by the SEC and FTC, respectively. "You have to position a portfolio for below-trend growth in the U.S.," one analyst told Bloomberg.
