Largest Origami Mosaic in Hong Kong Guinness World Record
July 2008, an event named ‘origami stars, millions of hearts’ set a new Guinness World Record for the largest origami mosaic in Hong Kong, China. The event was organized by Hong Kong Youth Visual Art Association, Hong Kong Chinese Arts Festival, Lo Fung Art Gallery Ltd. and Hong Kong Union of Visual Artists Limited.
The event started at nine ‘o’ clock in the morning in Hiu Kwong Street Sports Centre, Kwun Tong, Hong Kong ,China. Around 2,000 participants took turns to take part in the relay of making the mosaic which took 9 hours.

Musical origami
Combining an ancient technology, with a very new one, JooYoun Paek has created 'Fold Loud.'
From the artist:
"Playing Fold Loud involves folding origami shapes to create soothing harmonic vocal sounds. Each fold is assigned to a different human vocal sound so that combinations of folds create harmonies. Users can fold multiple Fold Loud sheets together to produce a chorus of voices. Opened circuits made out of conductive fabric are visibly stitched onto the sheets of paper which creates a meta-technological aesthetic. When the sheets are folded along crease lines, a circuit is closed like a switch. Thus, the interface guides participants to use repetitive delicate hand gestures such as flipping, pushing and creasing. Fold Loud invites users to slow down and reflect on different physical senses by crafting paper into both geometric origami objects and harmonic music." SO YOU THINK THIS PRIMARY SEASON WAS SLOW?
As you can see in these images, the turtles are teaching Obama that change comes slowly, McCain that he is not that old and experienced, and Hillary that it is OK not to always be first…..
But it is Julie Maguire of Turtle Rescue of Long Island, the woman who gave these turtles a home, that inspires us to remember that you don’t have to be president in order to bring positive change to your community.
Ms. Maguire has been passionate about turtles for a long time and she learned firsthand about the suffering of these animals. So many people are duped into buying turtles without understanding the responsibility it requires to take care of them. The result is neglected animals that are in dire need of new homes and proper care.
So Ms. McGuire found other people in her community that care about this issue and together they established Turtle Rescue Of Long Island, an organization that provides shelter and care to turtles and a network of adopters who are willing to help.
