Airbus A380 - World's Biggest Aircraft Model at Heathrow
Weighing in at 45 tonnes, the plane is taking the place of the British Airways model Concorde, which greeted passengers as they arrived at the airport for 16 years, and has been moved to the Brooklands Museum at Weybridge, Surrey.
Its replacement, the Airbus, will remain on the site until 2013 under a deal signed by the airline and BAA, Heathrow's owners.
The model, in the Emirates livery, is as big as a smaller member of the Airbus family, the short-haul A320, and twice the size of the Concorde replica.

Heathrow in futuristic cure for stressed travelers
The baggage system didn't work and the new lifts trapped their occupants but, undeterred, tomorrow Heathrow airport introduces its latest hi-tech solution to make travellers' lives easier - machines to help you sleep.
The new MetroNap Energy Pods installed at Terminal 1 are designed to allow stressed-out passengers to quickly grab 40 winks. After a 15-minute power nap they are gently woken, relaxed and refreshed, ready to board their flight or head into the city.
The machines, designed in America and originally conceived by a Wall Street banker, are becoming common in New York offices, where employees use them to re-energise themselves during the day. Several US gyms have also bought Pods, and here the Lawn Tennis Association has installed one at its training centre to help players snooze between matches. Several UK airports are now in talks to introduce them.
A 15-minute nap in a Pod, in the Urban Retreat spa at Terminal 1, costs £9.50, but is it worth it, and do they work? Last week I got a sneak preview at MetroNap's head office in London.
Although on first appearance the sleek white Energy Pod looks like something from Barbarella, in fact it's extremely simple. You kick off your shoes and get onto the seat, which then reclines, 'so your feet are level with your heart', says Marcus de Guingand, the firm's managing director. He explains that this will reduce pressure on my heart, while the chair's ergonomic design will relax my back and leg muscles.
A timer allows you to set the length of your nap - from 15-20 minutes for an energy boost, 30 minutes to start repaying your sleep debt or up to 90 minutes, which allows the 'perfect combination of deep and REM sleep'. The hood - designed to cut users off from the outside world without being claustrophobic - slides into place and specially-commissioned new age-style music starts to play, from either headphones or the hood's built-in speakers.
At first my leg twitches, and I wonder what's going on outside the hood, but soon I am totally relaxed and the 20 minutes passes in a deeply pleasant blur. Did I go to sleep? I don't think so, although when the seat vibrates gently to wake me and moves back to the upright position, Marcus suggests I was in the very light stages of sleep so felt semi-conscious. Possibly, and it's true that I do feel strangely refreshed.
Ultimately the Energy Pod is just a reclining chair with half a giant ping-pong ball on top. But if you're stuck in the hell of Heathrow in the summer months, 15 minutes' respite might be a very tempting prospect indeed.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been held at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.
A police spokesman said: "At 1711 police were called after a disturbance at Heathrow Airport Terminal 5.

Troika Cloud
Troika was asked to create a piece to mark the entrance to British Airway’s new luxury lounges at Heathrow.
In response, we created ‘Cloud’, a five meter long digital sculpture whose surface is covered with 4638 flip-dots that can be individually addressed by a computer to animate the entire skin of the sculpture. Flip-dots were conventionally used in the 70s and 80s to create signs in train-stations and airports. We were fascinated by their materiality, by the way they physically flip from one side to the other. The sound they generate is also instantly reminiscent of travel, and we therefore decided to explore their aesthetic potential in ‘Cloud’. Heathrow crash pilot deserves 'medal as big as a frying pan'
A heroic British Airways pilot averted catastrophe yesterday by gliding his jet into Heathrow after its engines failed.
Capt Peter Burkill kept Flight BA038 airborne over houses and schools before crash-landing in a field. Only 19 of the 136 people on board were hurt.
A witness said: "He deserves a medal as big as a frying pan."
The jet swooped in a few feet above cars heading for the airport - including one carrying Gordon Brown.
Cool-headed Capt Peter Burkill realised his Boeing 777 had suffered a total power failure as he approached Heathrow at 200mph - and calmly announced: "I'll just have to glide it in."
The jet was flying over the densely populated West London suburbs surrounding the airport when he lost all power and all the electrics suddenly died.
Capt Burkill and his crew managed to keep it airborne above houses, schools and offices - clearing Heathrow's perimeter fence by just five feet before crash-landing into a field 500 yards short of the runway. The PRT is a fleet of 18 driverless pods that look strangely akin to storm trooper helmets for business passengers flying out of Terminal Five.
