    • Greatest guitar hero ever?

The NY Times has asked its readers to name the greatest guitarists of all time. There are lots of answers, but Jimi Hendrix and Andres Segovia seem to be universal favorites, with Django Reinhart making a strong showing too.

Hard to pin down the metrics of what makes someone the best guitarist. Is it a question of technique? Artistic contribution? Innovation? All of the above?

My picks: Hendrix and Jimmy Page for influencing the entire rest of rock and blues to follow, Robert Johnson for influencing them, Django for defining the sound of an era and for sheer technique, and Leo Kottke because his music makes my jaw hit the floor every time.

Who would you put on the list?

    • Anyone for a bit of an Earwig?

Unfortunately it's not wigs for your ears, but rather Myspace's new extension of it's Music section, coming in the form of Earwig TV, a video channel that will host exclusive video content from both signed and unsigned artists.

The channel will give users the chance to vote on which acts make it onto the channel, as well as the ones who don't.

So in essence, Myspace will pull videos from people's profiles, decide which are most popular, ask if the users want to see them on a channel instead of on their individual profiles and then say congratulations to the ones who got filmed...

Wow, that truly is groundbreaking stuff!
