Tibetan protesters in Lhasa have been given an ultimatum by the Chinese government: surrender or face severe penalties. China has also accused some Tibetan supporters who have been following the Dalai Lama of targeting and attacking several of its embassies around the globe. 40 demonstrators wearing black hoods crashed a speech by former Attorney General John Ashcroft in November 2007. Ashcroft seemed a bit rattled, but continued his talk anyway. Audience members interrupted to ask him about court rulings and the prison at Guantanamo Bay. The interruptions were limited, and Ashcroft delivered the bulk of his speech without any problems. The monasteries of Myanmar used to teem with saffron-robed Buddhist monks, revered as spiritual guides and moral authorities in a country in the grip of a repressive military regime.

March for the Kidnapped
Gustavo Moncayo is an elementary school teacher in Sandona, Narino province (southeast of Colombia). His son, Private Pablo Emilio Moncayo is one of the soldiers who has been held hostage by the FARC for the longest time, as he was kidnapped in 1997. Driven by despair, profesor Moncayo, decided 6 months ago to chain his hands in protest against the situation of his son. Later, aware that his effort was achieving hardly anything, decides to start a walk through half of this country (his hometown is 1005 kilometers far from Bogota) to the capital city with the hope to get his son free again or to put pressure on the government and the FARC to start a humanitarian agreement to help all people held hostage in Colombia.
