Burma: It Can't Wait and the U.S. Campaign for Burma
Sylvester Stallone, Jennifer Aniston, Judd Apatow, Eva Longoria Parker, Sheryl Crow and others have joined together to produce a 30 day series of public service announcements at Burma: It Can't Wait http://burmaitcantwait.org/burmaitcantwait/. The website is aimed at promoting the U.S. Campaign for Burma. The fund raiser has been going on all month but I think that you can still help if you're interested.
From the U.S. Campaign for Burma website:
The United States Campaign for Burma is a U.S.-based membership organization dedicated to empowering grassroots activists around the world to bring about an end to the military dictatorship in Burma. Through public education, leadership development initiatives, conferences, and advocacy campaigns at local, national and international levels, USCB works to empower Americans and Burmese dissidents-in-exile to promote freedom, democracy, and human rights in Burma and raise awareness about the egregious human rights violations committed by Burma’s military regime.
The leadership of USCB is comprised of seasoned human rights advocates, with experience both inside and outside the U.S. government. The board and staff, which include former Congressional staff, former Burmese political prisoners, and experienced advocates, are dedicated to increasing the profile of Burma and seeking solutions to the country’s decades-long conflict. The core strength of USCB — individual members, community chapters, student chapters, and affiliates across the United States — is Americans and Burmese dissidents-in-exile.

Recycle Your Computer Month: Cleveland area residents join EPA Great Lakes 2008 Ea...
Greater Cleveland area - Cuyahoga County - participates in EPA Great Lakes 2008 Earth Day Challenge
Thousands of residents in Greater Cleveland, Ohio are recycling unwanted computer electronics during the annual "Recycle Your Computer Month."
In the past 8 years, the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District has sponsored many collections that garnered over 1,900 tons of computer equipment.
"This is the 9th year that we have provided free computer recycling to Cuyahoga County residents," said Cristie A. Snyder, District Program Officer.
"In 2000, we started collecting computers with a one-day Round-Up twice a year," said Snyder, adding a couple years ago the opening of a local recycling facility allowed the District to switch "to a month-long promotion that allowed our municipalities to run their events as needed."
The e-Waste computer collections are sponsored by the District in collaboration with local city service departments.
Residents in 59 municipalities can drop-off their old and broken unused computer equipment at over 45 participating city service departments during the month of April, Snyder said.
All equipment collected will be taken to RET3 job corp, a non-profit computer recycling and refurbishing company based in Cleveland. Computer donations are tax-deductible.

A Public Service Announcement
In his final days of high school Donald Whalen was on the brink of failing another video course. Because he had spent the majority of his class time and study halls installing all the requisite hardware needed to bring the computer labs up to date and being called on to assist the teacher and students with the editing suite, he was surprised to read on his report card that he had earned an F for incompleted work. During some post hoc negotiations it was agreed that if he could produce his missed work in three days he would receive a B.
Enraged, Donald set out to produce a small arsenal of last minute saftey videos, advertisements, and a public service announcement featuring a mild curse word and a lot of head violence. It was enough to graduate.
Remember kids--the system does not overlook anyone but everyone. In his final days of high school Donald Whalen was on the brink of failing another video course. Because he had spent the majority of... more -

Cyber Bullying contest sponsored by SONY.
Cyberbullying is a growing problem among children and teenagers on the Internet. The anonymity and ease of communication the Internet provides can create a vehicle for bullying, harassment and defamation, harmful actions that can make the Internet a hostile and dangerous place. Cyberbullying is a problem that must be addressed and solved.
Help end cyberbullying by creating a Public Service Announcement on the issue. Sony Creative Software, the National Crime Prevention Council and the Ad Council are seeking entries from independent producers and academic institutions (K - 12). The top submissions may be eligible for national broadcast, and their producer or sponsoring academic institution will receive a complete multimedia editing suite for their facility or school valued at over $18,000. Prize sponsors include Sony Creative Software, Sony Electronics, and Sony VAIO. Cyberbullying is a growing problem among children and teenagers on the Internet.
