Father tries to beat the 'gayness' out of own son with baseball bat
"An Anderson, South Carolina man is being investigated for assault and potential hate crime charges after beating his son on two separate occasions following a pride parade on Sunday. Yes, this is in the same state that just ran out on its credit to an advertising agency after running thousands of “South Carolina is so gay” ads, leaving a pride group in the state to volunteer to pick up the check.

The federal Forest Service said a mob of about 400 members of the Rainbow Family... threw rocks and sticks at Forest Service officers who tried to arrest a member of the group. The agency would not give a reason for the original arrest.
About 60 federal and local officers responded, Forest Service officials said, and fired pepper balls — pellets that disperse a pepper solution — at the crowd.

More than 100 participants in the annual Rainbow Family of Living Light "Gathering of the Tribes" near Big Sandy made appearances at a temporary federal court at the fire station here this week.Chief U.S. District Judge William Downes signed the unusual order to create the temporary courtroom because the closest federal courtrooms to the gathering are in Green River, Lander and Jackson, he said Thursday.The court will remain as long as Rainbow gathering participants are in the area.
About 40 participants appeared in court Wednesday, and an unknown number appeared Thursday, according to the clerk of federal court in Casper. One defendant on Wednesday apparently got out of hand and was zapped with a Taser.
U.S. marshals brought out a case of bottled water for the defendants lined up at the tent where security personnel conducted searches.
There, too, Rainbows made nice with the government.
One Rainbow asked a marshal how he kept a straight face.

Beating Of Gay Man Appears To Be Hate Crime
A bruised head and swollen eye didn't stop 20-year-old Marquis from speaking publicly about the attack. He's admittedly afraid after what happened, but said he is not afraid of who he is.
"I've been called names while I was out, but never like this," said Bryant.
Bryant says the attackers started by yelling offensive remarks.
"I was being called a 'fag', a 'faggott.' The next thing I know I'm hitting the ground," said Bryant.
He says as he was nearing the corner of 20th St. and J St. when he put some head phones on a starting listening to music. All of a sudden, the suspects allegedly jumped on him and knocked him to he ground.
"We don't tolerate crimes like this," said Sgt. Matt Young, Sacramento Police Department.
Sacrament Police believe the 20-year-old may have been targeted because the bag he was carrying may have looked to his alleged attackers like a woman's purse. Morris Dees Discusses New Lawsuit Against Klan
The Southern Poverty Law Center's case against the Imperial Klans of America (IKA) is scheduled for trial in November in Meade County, Kentucky. The SPLC sued the IKA and two of its officials on behalf of teenager Jordan Gruver, who was brutally beaten by IKA members at a county fair. Over the past couple of months, the trial team, led by Morris Dees, has been in Kentucky preparing for the case. Dees answers questions about the case:
Please provide a brief summary of the case and its status today.
On July 30, 2006, two IKA officials, Jarred R. Hensley, 24, of Cincinnati and Andrew R. Watkins, 26, of Louisville, attacked 16-year-old Jordan Gruver while he was enjoying the Meade County Fair in Brandenburg, Ky. Gruver was beaten to the ground and kicked with steel-toed boots. One of his attackers is 6-foot-5 and 330 pounds. Gruver weighed 150. He never had a chance. They cracked his ribs, broke his arm and busted his jaw.
Hensley and Watkins are serving three-year prison terms for the beating. The SPLC filed a lawsuit against the IKA in July 2007, naming Ron Edwards, the IKA's founder, and several highest-ranking members as defendants. Edwards and several others have been deposed, and the SPLC's legal team is preparing for trial.
How is the Imperial Klans of America different from the KKK groups the SPLC has sued in the past?
As odd as it sounds, historically most Klans would allow only "Christians" to be members. This had little appeal to violence-prone young skinheads. The IKA changed its membership rules in late 2005 to allow "Odinists, National Socialists, skinheads, Nazis, Defenders, Confederates and other white racialists" into full IKA membership. This, in conjunction with its heavy-metal, hate music Nordic Fest, attracted hundreds of skinhead members. Now the IKA is one of the nation's largest Klan groups, with 16 chapters in eight states. And, because of its skinhead components, it is one of the most dangerous.
What groups does the IKA target for violence?
When I deposed the IKA imperial wizard, I asked him if "the IKA hates Muds, spics, kikes and niggers," as stated in its official secret handbook. "Yes," he said, "and I also hate you." It is obvious that he also hates the Southern Poverty Law Center because his large bald head sported a large freshly inked tattoo that read: “F--K THE S.P.L.C.” Imagine the hate in this man's heart to put something this disgusting on his body.
Do the IKA's joint activities with neo-Nazi skinheads pose a serious threat to minorities?
Yes, especially Latino immigrants. When the police arrested the two men who beat Jordan, one of them called the youth "an illegal SPIC," even as he lay bleeding on the ground. The IKA hosts an annual Nordic Fest each Memorial Day at its compound near Dawson Springs, Ky. They attacked Jordan because he is small and slightly dark-skinned. He is a U.S. citizen, as are his parents. Crimes against Latinos have risen as much as 40 percent in some states, driven by the heated debate about immigration. Hate groups are leading many of these assaults.
What part does hate music play in IKA's effort to attract violence-prone skinheads to its movement?
It is very appealing to these skinheads. The lyrics of these songs express deeply held beliefs that capture their imagination and openly call for violence against minorities. One song, "No Mercy," was listened to by the two IKA members less than two months before they assaulted Jordan. It goes like this: "What about the Jews? No mercy! What about the spics? No mercy! What about the niggers? No mercy! What about the faggots? No mercy!" Edwards' son, Steven, manages one of those bands, the Totenkopf Saints. Watkins, one of Jordan's assailants, was a member of the band. Its emblem is the skull head of the Nazi SS, and its members worship Adolf Hitler. Mexican Emos 'under attack'
It has been reported that there has been a bizarre wave of mob emo-bashings sweeping across Mexico.
The movement is being generated on internet message boards and social networking sites by non-emo youth who highly dislike like the emo look and attitude.
According to Daniel Hernanadez's blog, in which he has been keeping up to date with the emo-bashing Mexican antics, it begun about three weeks ago when "an estimated 800 young people poured into the city's Centro Historico hunting for emos to beat the crap out of." He goes onto state, "They found some."
Over the last few weeks the violence has spread across Mexico, with reported attacks sighted in Mexico City, Durango, Colima as well as others.
Check out some of these links and see if you can come up with an explanation as to why there has been such an increase in the amount of 'emo-bashings'.

Ellen gets emotional about gay teen killed
After much speculation of her being contracted to not talk about gay issues on her show, Ellen Degeneres has finally spoken out on the tragic murder of a 15 year-old boy killed by a classmate in Los Angeles because he was gay. Anti-Gay vilolence on the Rise in S. Florida
The second attack in less than a week has southern Florida residence worried. The first, a murder of a 17 year old trans gendered individual, Simmie Williams Junior, on a city street. Most recently, a man was attacked outside a 24 hour diner following a meal with his partner and a friend. The assailant noticed the victim eating on the patio and said, "Were you looking at me, if you were, I'm going to come back there and break your neck." The three were obviously spooked, so they paid their bill and headed to their car. Their car was close to the attackers. He grabbed Melbourne Brunner and started beating him. He managed to escape into his car. They tried to get the attacker's license plate number, but the attacker put his t-shirt over it and said, "I'll kill you before you get my tag number!"
All this as gays are facing an attack on a legal basis. The Florida GOP is funding and anti-gay amendment to the state constitution.
