Hassan Haze created Hood News™ in his Long Beach apartment in the spring of 2005. The purpose of Hood News was to spread awareness in a community of the misinformed.
The first DVD focused on terrorizing police and the new injunctions placed in the law to target people of the Hood. The first volume went on to be an underground cult classic. The second volume "Freedom of Press" broadens the range from terrorizing police tactics to the homes of the people that this affects. Hood News™ covered stories from wrongfully accused, to medical marijuana Law prop 215. Hood News™ also stayed true to its form of being raw, uncut and unbelievable. The opening sequence is of a hold out situation involving a domestic violence suspect and the Compton sheriffs. The dialogue is simple and to the point then something tragic happens. More Latinos For Obama Than Kerry
One of the key constituencies to watch in the general election will be Hispanic voters. The Republican Party made a mess of its relationship to this group after taking a hard-line stance on immigration reform one year ago. But Barack Obama also has had his troubles recruiting Hispanics, due both to Hillary Clinton's popularity and, to a lesser extent, racial concerns.
While conventional wisdom holds that John McCain, a border state Senator, could make inroads among Hispanic voters, a new tracking poll shows that, historically, Obama is in a very strong position.
A Gallup Study released today shows that in a hypothetical general election match up Hispanics break by a greater than two-to-one margin for the Illinois Democrat: 62 percent to McCain's 29 percent.
To put that in context, in 2004, Hispanics favored Sen. John Kerry over President Bush by a margin of 59 to 40, meaning that Obama is already ahead of his Democratic predecessor. This, of course, is a welcome development for a candidate hoping to win Nevada, Colorado, and New Mexico, states with large Hispanic communities.
"The narrative that Obama is weak and McCain is strong among Latinos is simply not reinforced by the Gallup numbers," wrote Andres Ramirez, of the NDN, a progressive think tank. "Also, it is clear that McCain has been unable to differentiate and/or distinguish himself from the Latino community's negative view of the GOP. If these trends continue, this will make the five heavily Hispanic states of Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Florida much more democratic - a shift that, alone, could give Barack Obama the presidency."
There are, to be sure, areas where Obama can improve his standing among Hispanic voters. In the 2006 congressional elections, for instance, the Democratic Party on a national level won 70 percent of the groups vote. Moreover, there is heavy indication that McCain's camp thinks they can woo these voters as the election progresses.
"There are some non-Republican Hispanic leaders who aren't looking at us right now because they are supporting Sen. Clinton," said McCain adviser Charlie Black. "If they become freed up, we're going to talk to them."
But at this point in time, the Hispanic community may not poise the major political obstacle for Obama that was once believed. As Gallup concludes:
"Obama did not fare well against Hillary Clinton among Hispanics in the 2008 primaries, but the early indications are that he will do well among this increasingly Democratic group in the general election." Transracial Adoption Faces Criticism
NEW YORK (AP) — Several leading child welfare groups Tuesday urged an overhaul of federal laws dealing with transracial adoption, arguing that black children in foster care are ill-served by a "colorblind" approach meant to encourage their adoption by white families.

Fox declares black children are like monkeys
Madonna's adoption of a black child from the African nation of Malawi has recently been declared the same as adopting a monkey for the zoo. It seems that Brian Kilmeade, from Fox network, thinks that black children are tantamount to animals that need to be saved from savagery through kind white intentions.

White woman's bag snatched on Chicago Train by black young male
Between 1 P.M and 2 P.M today, A white womans' bag was snatched from an empty seat adjacent to her by a young black male. I was seated directly across from the two when the incident occurred. The young male entered the Chicago green line "L" car from another connected car. He sat down with a slight smile on his face. I wondered why he was smiling so deviously but I figured he was just being silly. He then stared directly at me for several seconds. Now me, knowing the rules of the street and all, decided it would be best to stare right back at him and not look away. He then turned his attention to the young lady momentarily. Now I don't know what stop he got on the train at but he decided to make his "exit" at the Cicero stop. Just as the door opened and the automated voice system declared "this is Cicero" the young man quickly grabbed the bag and made a hasty exit. The woman quickly pursued him yelling "you little bastard". Now right when this occurred two options came to mind. Should I chase the young man down. I'm 22 and athletic so I could have easily caught the young man. But then something else came to mind. I realized what area I was in so I thought to myself "I'd better not". I have to travel this route everyday and I know for a fact that this area is infested with gang activity. Now seeing as I am usually the only person on the train everyday with a Lincoln tech shirt I figured it wouldn't be that hard to spot me if necessary. So I decided not to chase the young man. Call me a coward but when you live in the city this is usually the train of thought you have. The second thing that came to mind is "how would this woman view black people from now on?" Would she become racist towards black people? And If she did could anyone blame her? So to all you out there I pose the same question? How would you feel towards African Americans if you were a victim of crime at the hands of one? Would it change your point of view? The detectives were found not guilty on all felony and misdemeanor charges in the November 2006 death of Sean Bell, who died in a hail of 50 police bullets outside a club in Queens.
The NYT's is doing a an hourly blog gauging the respsonse of New Yorkers. Al Sharpton is calling for peaceful protests.
Justice Arthur J. Cooperman, who delivered the verdict in State Supreme Court, said many of the prosecution’s witnesses, including Mr. Bell’s friends and the two wounded victims, were simply not believable. “At times, the testimony of those witnesses just didn’t make sense,” he said.
While his decision prompted several supporters of Mr. Bell to storm out of the courtroom, and there were a few small scuffles outside the courthouse, by late morning there no suggestions of any broader unrest around the city. Mr. Bell’s family members made no comment as they left, and they immediately drove to visit his grave at the Nassau Knolls Cemetery and Memorial Park in Port Washington.
The verdict comes 17 months to the day since the Nov. 25, 2006, shooting of Mr. Bell, 23, and his friends, Joseph Guzman and Trent Benefield, outside the Club Kalua in Jamaica, Queens, hours before Mr. Bell was to be married. I've been hearing about the supposed 'controversy' over the current Vogue cover that features basketball phenomenon Lebron James posed with superlativemodel Gisele Bundchen, and though I'd seen the cover a number of times it didn't really strike any chord within me other than "Huh---a brotha's on the cover of Vogue---dig that isht...."
BUT: I mean, damn. When you place the Vogue cover side by side with the King Kong joint... What's that line Arsenio Hill used to pop back in the day: Things that make you go "Hmmmm...."
When you realize how much more dignified and, frankly, 'civilized' the alternative photo looks, that really gets the wheels spinning.
I dunno - is it just me----or is there truly a kinda King Kong-esque janky - and painfully obvious - subtext going on with that Vogue cover...?

Rick Steves smokes pot!
PBS Travel Writer Rick Steves is teaming up with the ACLU of Washington State, to tackle the prohibition of Marijuana. They are comparing this prohibition, to the prohibition of alcohol in the 1920s. Rick Steves smokes marijuana when he is in Europe and has learned from their tolerant approach to the drug, "Marijuana use should be treated primarily as a health issue, not a criminal one. In Europe I've seen how more thoughtful approaches to social issues can really work. Our government's war on drugs sounds very tough and results-driven, but all it really succeeds at is being enormously expensive, tearing families apart and treating nonconformists as criminals."
