Wii Fit underwear girl is YouTube sensation
The clip, which was filmed by the woman’s boyfriend and posted on the internet without her knowledge, has been viewed two million times.
Titled "Why every guy should buy their girlfriend a Wii Fit", it shows 25-year-old Lauren Bernat doing increasingly fast hula hoop motions dressed only in her pants and a T-shirt.
The Wii Fit, which went on sale in Britain in April, is on course to be the biggest selling fitness device in history.
More than 300,000 copies of the game were sold in its first two weeks on the shelves alone.
The game allows Nintendo Wii owners to do a range of exercises and stretches - including slalom skiing and hula hooping - under the guidance of on on-screen fitness expert.
Giovanny Gutierrez, 30, who filmed the footage of his girlfriend Miss Bernat in their Florida home, said that she had now forgiven him for posting in on the internet.
"She was furious when she found out. She called me on the phone screaming her head off and then hung up on me," he said.
"But she now finds herself laughing about it and enjoying her 15 minutes of fame as the Wii Fit girl. It's just crazy how it's blown up." The clip, which was filmed by the woman’s boyfriend and posted on the internet without her knowledge, has been viewed two million tim... more -
Virtual pole dancing coming to the Nintendo Wii?
"There must be a God after all. Peekaboo Entertainment—creators of the Carmen-Electra-endorsed "Electra-Pole" home pole dancing kit—is reportedly planning to take their expertise to the Nintendo Wii. Adding another interesting dimension to the Wii's role as a fitness machine, the proposed pole dancing title could further ensure that men spend all day playing, or now watching, video games.Unfortunately the game will not included Carmen Elektra herself, who will remain relegated to Electra-Pole box covers filling Spencer Gifts around the nation. "Men and women of all shapes and sizes will be encouraged to work on improving their skills, with the firm focus on fun and fitness as per the core brand values of Nintendo Wii," says Peekaboo. Hmm, I’m guessing most men will stay on the sidelines for this one." "There must be a God after all. Nintendo Taps U.S. Talent in Search of WiiWare Hits
Nintendo videogame guru Shigeru Miyamoto says the future of indie games looks brightest outside his native Japan.
"I think America has always been better at creating unique products," says Miyamoto, the head of Nintendo's game-development division and creator of Super Mario Bros.
Nintendo has traditionally led its product launches with standout titles from its Japanese studios. But the most intriguing games scheduled for its WiiWare games-on-demand download service, which launches Monday, are created by independent U.S. developers. Nintendo says it wants to foster an open environment in which indie games can flourish.
"In Japan, the technology required to create videogames tends to be concentrated in the bigger corporations," says Miyamoto. Game publishers tend to make conservative games that will always be profitable, rather than taking risks on experimental games, he says.
With WiiWare, Nintendo is attempting to flip the equation. By opening the service to even the smallest indie designers, the company hopes to tap the talents of the world's brightest gamemakers and snag brilliant new ideas for its popular Wii console. If the company finds the next little thing that blows up big -- like 2007's sleeper hit Portal, which got its start as an undergraduate project -- Nintendo will benefit from both the sales and the critical buzz. And it will do so with a minimal investment. Nintendo videogame guru Shigeru Miyamoto says the future of indie games looks brightest outside his native Japan. ... more -

Nintendo continues to fumble online play
Everyone knows online gaming has been a concern for Nintendo. I have to respect that Nintendo puts user safety at the forefront, but allowing their friend code system to cripple friending and the overall online experience is beginning to become a problem. With Mario Kart Wii about ready to launch, can Nintendo pull out an online platform? Do they even feel motivated to do so?
I recall reading that they purchased an invitation system, and rumors were circulating that they planned to move away from the two friend code system. Will this come to pass?

God Save The Q-Wii-N
According to UK online gossip rag The People, Prince William was given a Wii for Christmas by his girlfriend, Kate Middleton. Once it was all set up and playable, the Queen decided she wanted to have a go at bowling and apparently quite enjoyed it. If The People is to be believed (and really, the way the article is written gives them the credibility level of The National Inquirer) the Queen is quite a gadgeteer owning a cell phone, Blackberry and even an iPod that holds 100,000 songs. Now, the real question here isn't whether or not the story is 100% true (which, if you ask me, is up for debate) but more interestingly, what exactly does the Queen have on her iPod?
