    • Mushrooms lead to arrests

I posted a couple of these stories.

There have been hundreds of these stories recently so I felt the need to post a few. Chock one up for the local police departments for taking advantage of unjust laws and ruining the lives of countless free and law abiding Americans for the political purpose of making a headline. These do good police departments take photos of the loot they've pillaged from young and old alike. They pose smiling next to the Ziploc baggies of "contraband." We as a public at large praise them for their deeds, not thinking of the many years those people the police have just robbed will spend in jail, or the ruined lives they'll lead once they get out of jail, forever tattooed as a felon. We cheer when the local DA goes on the evening news to show us how they've just arrested someone's grand parents in a supposed marijuana ring. When it's time to allocate funds we pay millions upon millions of dollars to help organized criminals like the DEA and the local and state authorities to investigate, rob, and then put in jail our family, friends, neighbors, doctors, lawyers, priests, mailmen, professors and so on. These people they arrest are people like you and I. They are users and entrepreneurs alike. All fallen victim to the American Drug War and Narcotics Prohibition at large.

BIXBY, Okla. (AP) - Felony complaints have been filed against six people accused of possession of hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Bixby Police Officer Erik Smoot says the psilocybin mushrooms, nicknamed "shrooms," are hallucinogens that create the same effect as LSD but on a lesser scale.

Officials say 19-year-old Ryan Patrick Jackson of Broken Arrow and 22-year-old Christopher Kyle Brown of Bixby were arrested on July 16. Police reportedly found the two bagging up about 8 pounds of the illegal mushrooms behind a business.

Eighteen-year-old Jimmy Grammer of Bixby and three juveniles were taken into custody on Friday in rural Bixby with a small amount of the mushrooms and a small amount of marijuana.

The six were booked with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. No charges have been filed.

    • Busted:14,000 hits of LSD

Man busted for large amout of LSD

SCHENECTADY - An Oregon man is sitting in a Schenectady County jail cell after being arrested over the weekend at the Camp Bisco Music Festival.

There were thousands of music lovers on hand for the three-day festival in Mariahville and police say Jonathan Taylor had more than enough LSD to go around -- about 14,000 hits of acid. The Portland man is charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, two of which are felonies.

"We're not sure how he got it over the check points, but he did. That's why security is here to ride around and the attendees too. They come here to have a good time. They don't need that kind of stuff," Bill Potter said.

Potter's family runs Indian Lookout Country Club. This is the second year they've hosted the Camp Bisco Music Festival. He says on Saturday night, the last night, some alert concert goers and some quick action by his security staff helped nab Taylor.

"We went down. When we found him he had these little things, what looked like papers, looked like art work. Come to find out they were acid," Potter said.

Potter says security escorted Taylor off the grounds and handed him over to state police.

After checking his car, police say they found 14,000 hits of LSD along with $17,000 in cash.

The allegations of trying to get others tripping on acid earned this Oregon man a trip to the county jail.

"Don't like it, that's what we try to stop it. Someday my kids might be up here and that guy could be trying to sell that stuff to my kids," Potter said.

Taylor is being held at the Schenectady County Jail without bail.

    • Teen charged in naked LSD Tasering

This is an update to a story I posted earlier where in a man was tasered 3 times by police. The mans was allegedly on lsd and naked. Many readers found this story to be outrageous and excessive use of force. Here is the update. Teen arrested:

A 16-year-old boy accused of taking LSD, rolling around naked in a public street and resisting officers until being shocked several times with a Taser has been charged and had his case “resolved,” according to the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office.

Police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley said Christopher Dornfield was not initially arrested following the incident Wednesday, but she confirmed Monday that he has since been cited in the bizarre series of events that began when the teen allegedly split a hit of LSD with his 22-year-old friend.

Carolyn French, spokeswoman for the district attorney, on Tuesday said Dornfield was charged with at least one crime and that his case “has been resolved.”

“He has completed the court process,” French said.

She said she could not discuss details of the case because Dornfield is younger than 18 and was prosecuted as a juvenile.

Police administrative assistant Laurie Chestnut said Tuesday that officers previously had discussed with prosecutors the possibility of filing third-degree assault and criminal mischief charges against Dornfield.

Chief Mark Beckner said he could not discuss the case because of Dornfield’s juvenile status.

Police officials acknowledged they erred last week in releasing Dornfield’s name and not identifying him as a juvenile. Despite the Camera’s request for Dornfield’s age last week, police did not reveal he was a teenager until Monday.

According to police records, Dornfield allegedly split a hit of LSD with his friend, Brian Skutch, and was then taken for a drive by his other friends when he went out of control.

The group kicked Dornfield out of the car after he kicked his roommate in the eye while wearing a sock with thorns stuck to it, according to a police report.

Dornfield, naked and crawling on a patch of grass, was contacted by police at about 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of 28th Street and Iris Avenue, according to the report.

When Dornfield refused to comply with officers’ orders to hold still, he was shot with a Taser stun gun, according to police. He was shocked twice more after he tried to get back on his feet and advanced toward officers, police said.

Dornfield was treated and released from Boulder Community Hospital.

Police and paramedics later went to a nearby apartment to check on Dornfield’s friend. They found him sitting with his eyes open — but otherwise unresponsive — and took him to the hospital.

Baron Pikes, 21, was Tasered nine times by a police officer in January in Winnfield, Louisiana.

He stopped twitching after seven, according to a coroner's report. Soon afterward, Pikes was dead.

Now the officer, since fired, could end up facing criminal charges in Pikes' January death after medical examiners ruled it a homicide.

Dr. Randolph Williams, the Winn Parish coroner, told CNN the 21-year-old sawmill worker was jolted so many times by the 50,000-volt Taser that he might have been dead before the last two shocks were delivered.

Williams ruled Pikes' death a homicide in June after extensive study.

An internal affairs report says a Daytona Beach police officer demanded free coffee and tea from a Starbucks and threatened employees with slower emergency response times if they refused.

Lt. Major Garvin, a 15-year veteran, was fired July 8. According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Chief Mike Chitwood says Garvin recently failed a polygraph test that he insisted on taking.

The coffeehouse's employees claim that since June 2007, Garvin had visited the store as many as six times a night while on duty. Besides demanding free drinks, workers complained that Garvin also cut in front of paying customers.

    • Update: Taser arrest witnesses in Eugene, Oregon want police prosecuted

Three witnesses to the controversial stun-gun arrest of anti-pesticide protester Ian Van Ornum say a pair of Eugene police officers should face assault charges for roughing up the University of Oregon student after breaking up a downtown rally.

Eugene residents Josh Schlossberg, Samantha Chirillo and Amy Pincus Merwin announced Wednesday that they had filed a formal criminal complaint alleging that police Sgt. Bill Solesbee and officer Jud Warden assaulted Van Ornum on May 30 near Kesey Square.

Brian Michaels, a Eugene attorney representing the three residents, said he hopes the complaint spurs investigators toscrutinize the actions of Solesbee and Warden.

“These police officers need to be held accountable,” Michaels said during a news conference held at City Hall to announce the complaint’s filing. “We’re hoping this keeps the light shining on these officers … for assaulting and nearly killing” Van Ornum.

They say 29 year-old Clarence Smith Jr. was tasered Tuesday at his home on 17-13 South in Windsor.

The Bertie County Sheriff's office says deputies went to Smith's home Tuesday for a court-ordered committment.

The family says that is when Smith was tasered. Smith's father Clarence Smith Sr. says, "I'm numb right now. I saw him laying there in the hospital. The initial impact hasn't hit me yet. I just would like to get to the bottom of it."

The sheriff's office will not comment on the case except to say it is considered a death in custody and an autopsy will be performed.

      The S.B.I. is investigating.

WKRN News 2 reports that “the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating after video shot from inside a Mount Joliet patrol car shows an officer choking a suspect.”

In the video, the officer has both hands around the neck of the suspect and is telling him to “stick your tongue out.” The suspect, James Anders, then passes out.

According to WKRN, “The incident began with a traffic stop. • NYC Police Beat Up Rap Group Members Rebel Diaz

By Davey D & Jenny on the Block

Looks like the NYPD are living up to their reputation of being bonafide 'dipshits'. We are just getting word that NYC Police located in what was once known as Fort Apache-the 41st Precint in the Bronx, have shown that police terrorism is alive and well. The word is in a unprovoked attack they badly assaulted two members of the Rap group Rebel Diaz.

The story we are hearing is that group Rodstarz and G1 were up in Bronx on Southern Blvd in Hunts Point, when they noticed the police were harassing a street vendor who was selling fruit. The two went over to witness the cops in action and when they saw the police being abusive they pulled out a cell phone to video tape the incident and asked for the officers badge numbers.
Keep in mind that part of the Bronx has a large immigrant community and it is also being gentrified. The police from the 41st Precint have made it a point to commit acts of terror including the shooting and killing of an unarmed immigrant man last year. The case brought up images of Amadou Diallo another immigrant was gunned down by out of control Bronx cops in the neighboring precint.

According to witnesses, when Rodstarz and G1 asked for badge numbers the police became agitated and turned around and started beating them with bully clubs and kicking them in full view of other vendors and people on the crowded street. The two were dragged off bloody, put into a police car and charged with resisting arrest and assault.

The backdrop to this story is that Rebel Diaz are not your ordinary rappers. They are well known activist who not only speak out against police terrorism, but have been key in helping out folks within this immigrant community. Hence it would not be usual for group members to bear witness and to speak out against the injustices. Rebel Diaz has committed themselves to given voice to the voiceless in that Bronx neighborhood.

Many feel that the assault by these cowardly Bronx police officers in plain view of everyone was a way to send a strong message to folks in the community that the police run things and they best stay in line. By beating the Rebel Diaz members in front of everyone was a way to spark fear and remind people that no one is safe from the police. They wanna let folks know that they can brazenly beat up popular rappers in front everyone even with cell phone cameras rolling and do so with impunity. The whole ordeal is akin to the slave masters from way back sparking fear in the hearts of other slaves by beating the strongest among them in front of everyone for all to see.

Over the past year NY Police have been man handling, arresting and terrorizing politicized Hip Hop artists, activists and news reporters.

For example, last year in Brooklyn well known attorney Michael Tarif Warren who routinely represents people in police abuse cases was badly beaten along with his wife when they stopped to watch and bear witness to NY cops terrorizing a unarmed tennage boy at a gas station.

During the protests immediately following the acquittal of the officers on trial for the Sean Bell shooting, journalists who had been speaking out against the police were harassed and roughed up.

Hopefully folks will read this and understand that what the police are doing will not work.. A police state will not take place on our collective watch..
      -----------
La Peña del Bronx is urging folks to call the 41st Precint

    • Milwaukee Police Attack High School Students

Shortly after 4pm on Tuesday, Jun 10, Milwaukee police officers attacked and arrested a Riverside High School student who allegedly hit a car with a water balloon during a supposed water balloon fight. Onlookers witnessed this act of aggression by the police officers on duty. The officers on the scene viciously beat the victim over the head and tackled him to the ground. According to over a dozen witnesses, the boy was lying prone on the ground for several minutes before officers proceeded to lift his shirt and attack him with a tazer gun, an excessive and potentially lethal force. The tazer gun was used at close range. After the melee, the police spokesperson told the media that three officers were injured, but has yet to provide concrete evidence supporting these claims.

According to witnesses, including the boy's cousin, the student attacked is a severe asthmatic and was not resisting arrest when tazered. The student was held in the police vehicle for twenty minutes until an ambulance arrived on the scene. At least thirty officers were present and arrested a total of seven students and one parent. At least three of the people arrested were in the act of filming the incident. Police forced many of the first hand witnesses to leave the area.

Demand Police Accountability from Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett: (414.286.2200, mayor@milwaukee.gov) and new Police Chief Edward Flynn: (414.935.7200, acolem@milwaukee.gov)

Some of the students were detained for two days before being released and many of the students arrested are currently facing criminal charges and expulsion hearings.

In the wake of the tragic incident at Riverside high school, there is a call for answers, justice, and police accountability. Criminalization of young people and excessive force by the Milwaukee Police Department is unacceptable and happens too often to deny that there is a serious problem.

The systemic issues causing this pattern of police misconduct and brutality cannot be addressed by investigations led by anyone close to the MPD. They can only be addressed when Chief Flynn restores respect for the chain of command and when the Mayor calls for an independent, elected civilian review board to review, investigate, and rule on complaints against officers. Too many unarmed individuals have died at the hands of the MPD and external oversight is desperately needed to prevent future tragedies in our communities.

The city deserves a professional police force that will earn the respect of the community though good police work and a high level community involvement, otherwise police-community relations will continue to deteriorate and prospects for improving safety and reducing crime will diminish. Safety in our neighborhoods and effectively fighting crime both require rebuilding broken community relationships with law enforcement officers. This can only happen when officers respect the safety and Civil Rights of those who they serve. No one is above the law.
