Above is another link that goes with the photo. Spc. Joseph Dwyer died due a denied action from the U.S government AND state medical assistance. It's not an event that can only be blamed on one group. Soldiers from all over the world suffer from the one thing that they can never truly run from- War. It stays with you even long after you're dead- because the loved ones you leave behind will remember what happened to you, what happened to them, and what has been left behind. PTSD is no joke. Soldiers are NOT weak for being exposed to war and then trying to have a normal life afterwards... they need help... just as much as the war-torn families they tried to assist overseas... these soldiers need help.
The less they get- the more they will be lost to their own dangers... and they'll be bringing it home when they get back. It's not their fault. War is never the fault of the soldier- the politicians and the lobbyists are the engines for war...
How about we send all of our politicians to Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi... Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo... send every single one of them out there. How many would come back normal? How many would come back at all? Would PTSD be a noticeable problem then? I bet medical facilities and state departments would get some excellent fundings and muuuuch better staff...
Probably build a Walter Reed in every state...

      Bali's day
      of silence

Every religion or culture all over the world has their own way to define and celebrate their new year. For example, the Chinese have the Imlek year and to celebrate it, have, as they called it in their own language, "Gong Xi Fat Choy". The Moslem societies have their Muharam year, and any of the people over the world using the Gregorian calendar, celebrate the New Year on January 1st.

The same thing also occurs in Bali, however the Balinese use many different calendar systems. They have adopted the Gregorian calendar for business and government purposes. But for the endless procession of holy days, temple anniversaries, celebrations, sacred dances, building houses, wedding ceremonies, death and cremation processes and other activities that define Balinese life, they have two calendar systems. The first is the Pawukon (from the word Wuku which means week) and Sasih (which is means month). Wuku consists of 30 items starting from Sinta, the first Wuku and end up with the Watugunung the last one. The Pawukon, a 210-day ritual calendar brought over from Java in the 14th century, is a complex cycle of numerological conjunctions that provides the basic schedule for ritual activities on Bali. Sasih, a parallel system of Indian origin, is a twelve month lunar calendar that starts with the vernal equinox and is equally important in determining when to pay respect to the Gods.

Westerners open the New Year in revelry, however, in contrast, the Balinese open their New Year in silence. This is called Nyepi Day, the Balinese day of Silence, which falls on the day following the dark moon of the spring equinox, and opens a new year of the Saka Hindu era which began in 78 A.D.

Nyepi is a day to make and keep the balance of nature. It is based on the story of when King Kaniska I of India was chosen in 78 A.D. The King was famous for his wisdom and tolerance for the Hinduism and Buddhism societies. In that age, Aji Saka did Dharma Yatra (the missionary tour to promote and spread Hinduism) to Indonesia and introduce the Saka year.

    • pagan magic ritual

Many newcomers to the field are uncertain what rituals.

I would therefore give an overview of how and in what order a ritual should be carried out. It is very important that a ritual always in the same way, so that their subconscious to adjust immediately. Also, all points are important and should not be a part omitted.
First, you need a few utensils, for each ritual and any kind of magic needed. This would be:
A Athamen, it is a zweischneidiger ritual dagger, which is exclusively for driving nenutzt of energy and not for such mundane things like bread cut or carve.
      A cup of any material
A Pentakelscheibe made of metal, wood or clay, just from a earthy material, because it symbolizes the earth.
An R ä uchergef ä ß, which consists of fireproof material.
Anyone who does not so much money has the same right to einzudecken can also deal with simple items such as kitchen knives, but then only for this purpose be used, wine glass, a sheet of paper covered with stave painted, and a flower pot behelfen red clay.
So now can begin the ritual.
      1st Preparation
First of all, it is important to take time and only once on the energies of the space in which they perform their ritual einzustimmen.
Thus, there are several participants discussed, which are part of the ritual wishing, if not one or the whole ritual of a director.
Experience has shown results in more group dynamics, if any part of another ritual participants incorporated.
After all the uncertainties are removed, you can override the festive part.
Who wants can now be special ritual robe and related create jewelry. The person who-where the ritual is not want to move, should ensure that they are clothes made of natural fibres, such as wool, cotton, silk or linen, as these are the emerging energy to penetrate.
For this reason celebrate their rituals, some naked, which I think is not absolutely necessary.
Now, in the centre of the circle provided an altar with a view towards the East was built.
If this is not possible, because the circle is a camp fire, the altar in the East, where the sun and the moon rise.
Some also insist the altar for the North to choose, because this cardinal direction is the earth on which we live and symbolizes power and strength. I personally prefer the east, where the sun and the moon rise.

      How does magic?

You read these pages because they are about everyday magic want to know their lives because they are a turning point, or the "fate" a little peripherals. This is a good thing, because everyone is actually his fortune blacksmith. Some people are daunted by the waves of life, and her throw to lick their wounds and wait anxiously, what happens next, because you can not do anything, it's fate. False thought, you can very well herumreißen the reins when the horse in a different direction than the desired, gallops.

One must also clear, however, there are certain limits which must be acknowledged. The Indians call it karma, I want to life task. It is no coincidence (which is a zufällt), they calculated that these parents, siblings, friends, boss' `s, etc. colleagues. All are part of their life task, even if they are to some fellow ausbeißen the teeth and they only trouble with them. Life is a school and every one of us has to learn his lesson, or you will sit and must repeat the class, in the next life, so to speak, until it is grasped.

I mention this because it is not provided for all, rich or his soul to find partners, if this is not their life task. Some tasks is easier to cope alone and without the sweet life in Saus and Braus. That they must also accept to resign. Our life tasks are as varied as the people themselves must therefore also every man for himself recognize its role and work. It may also help nobody. Even if some people take responsibility for themselves and their happy life to others, they constantly put the cards, or ask another ritual for them to celebrate.

I know there are situations in a person's life, where on foreign aid, because you are no longer the power it has. But they are, please do not get into the habit. I, too, has been frequently asked if I was one or the other ritual for someone could have made. But I think everyone has the ability to own, and it is their own energy that works and that is much more effective. Furthermore, it was not the helm of their lives in foreign hands. Only courage, which others can, they can.

Who says, however, magic would be a great thing, like a light switch without much effort works, has deceived. We must also magic of a certain base, in which they can achieve. I can not, for example, lottery profits to a hope, if I never get a ticket ausfülle. Also at the roulette can only win if they are ready to use. In short if you want to receive something you have to first be willing to give something. In the case of a ritual, it is especially time and energy they have to invest.

    • Annual phallus festival in Greece

Each year on the first Monday of Lent, the people of the tiny Greek town of Tyrnavos go crazy about penises, singing lewd songs and urging passersby to kiss their model phallusses. The pagan fertility festival is one of the most famous parties in Greece.

If you want to eat phallus-shaped bread, drink through phallus-shaped straws from phallus-shaped cups, kiss ceramic phalluses, sit on a phallus-shaped throne and sing dirty Greek songs about the phallus, then you should visit the little Greek town of Tyrnavos each year on "Clean Monday."

    • Kathy Lee Gifford bashes pagans on The Today Show!

On Wednesday, June 25, 2008, during a live broadcast of a wedding reception on The Today Show, Kathy Lee Gifford gratuitously referred to pagans as "nasty, bad Pagans." Ms Gifford's hate speech has done harm to American pagans' ability to live in peace with our neighbors of other faiths. By allowing her hate speech to be broadcast, her direct employer The Today Show, and their network, NBC, participate in that hate speech.

This is a petition calling for, at the very least, an on-air apology. A Today Show program devoted to dispelling misconceptions about pagans and paganism would go a long way toward undoing the damage.

Signers of this petition are also putting the sponsor of that Today Show segment, Samsung, on notice that we are conducting a boycott against them until such time as we receive justice.

    • Christams and Easter are Pagan Holidays!

Christmas and Easter were established by the Holy Roman Empire and the days of
celebration were chosen by the Roman leaders to coincide with established pagan
holidays and feasts, as well as being tied to the Winter Solstice and the Vernal
Equinox. Apparently when the sun reaches the Winter Solstice it stays just below the horizon for three days before it rises up again above the horizon.

I say let the common folk have their pagan holidays.

Jesus commands us in the Revelation of John (that is if you believe in commands from teh bible) to get out of the apostate church lest we be guilty of her sin. The church, both protestant and catholic have been practicing pagan holidays since their inception. Remember that the Romans made Christianity their official religion when they made Constantine both Emperor and Pope; when they formed the Holy Roman Empire. The Holy Roman Empire became the first Christian Theocracy.

Since then, whatever affiliation with Jesus they had was lost. They redefined Jesus to suit their purposes and burned and destroyed any writings that contradicted the official story; which is the official story of Jesus to this day practiced by 2.4 Billion Christians all over the world.

Christianity is not where you will find Jesus. Jesus is in our hearts and our minds, all we need to do is look inside ourselves to find him.

BTW The pendulum of teaching the bible in schools has already swung the other
way. In Texas bible classes are offered in many high schools. The bible is being
      taught as literature.

    • Pagan Origins of the Christ Myth

Don't tell mom you're an atheist - oh my god!

It is really startling when you start to do the research on the internet and you realize that their are unmistakable parallels and patterns that are copied or borrowed from ancient cultures and civilizations all over the world. These ancient cultures and civilizations, considered pagan by modern day Christians, held sacred truths that are remarkably similar to the sacred truths of Christianity.

The most notable parallel is that of Jesus and Egyptian god Horus. Both were son's of Gods, born of virgins, turned water into wine, were good shepherds, etc.. I was blown away. You got to check these things out for yourself.

If you consider yourself to be religious, prepare to have your world rocked by a major reality earthquake. If you aren't particularly religious then prepare yourself to have one aha moment after another.

    • Countdown To Halloween: Wise Old Crone Or Wizened Hag, Which Witch Are You?

      by Marisa
The association of Halloween with witches is as old as the holiday itself – and yet witchy interpretations have varied wildly with time. To contemporary American children, the cackling gorgon on her broomstick is textbook nightmare and horror film fodder. To Wiccans and ancient Celts, however, this wart-nosed hag represented the Goddess as woman in the final state of life. Wise with experience, she stirred at her cauldron (womb), wherein the dead awaited their rebirth with the Sun God at Yule. Pagan perspectives often utilize both Goddess and God figures in a yin/yang-like dynamic: the God being born of the Goddess each year and maturing to his death and rebirth, as the Goddess holds constant and immortal.

So, why the huge interpretational chasm? When Pope Gregory IV standardized All Hollow’s Day (or All Saints’ Day) from its previous May date to November 1, the Pagan Samhain festival was imbued with Christian meaning. Some of these pieces fit easily - Samhain’s honoring of the dead became All Hollow’s Day’s honoring of the saints - but others, like the powerful crone, were perhaps a bit more threatening, as demonstrated by the European witch hunts spanning 1450-1700. And so what was once a symbol of reverence for death and the life cycle transitioned into a figure of mystical peril.

So, ok, that takes care of the witch and the cauldron, but what’s with the broomsticks and flying in the air? The Wiccan broom (or besom) is used to cleanse ritual spaces by literally and figuratively sweeping away negativity, and then stored near a hearth or door to prevent evil from entering. During the Burning Times, witches were accused of flying broom-less, thanks to a grease-based “flying ointment.” Given that many of the ointment’s ingredients were hallucinogenic (hemp, belladonna, and poppy), another interpretation is that “flying” may have referred to astral projection.

And then there’s that favorite witchy companion: the bat. While nocturnal flight and vampiric associations have long contributed to make the bat a symbol of Halloween hauntings, many Pagans view the bat as a protective presence, harbinger of good fortune, or guide to past lives. Fortunately such dichotomies are in many ways exactly what Halloween is about: the veil between life and death, love and fear, yin and yang. So whether you think she’s a magical crone or a terrifying hag, on Samhain, all witches are welcome.
