Qi Calligraphy Healing
This is a very rough first edit of a QiGong/Calligraphy healing doc in the making. The voice over used is mainly to get an idea of what could be said (by someone with a better voice) or asked in an interview.
The main idea is to show an alternative way of getting healed or to recharge your batteries compared to what's on offer via the main stream. It also shows a different outlook on life and the influence of eastern cultures on our western society and in London and how people could benefit from it.
Any comments welcome as I'm not sure whether it's going in the right direction or interesting enough... i.e
Do you understand what's going on?
Do the interviews with the participants work?
Is there something specific you'd like to know?
Do you want to know more about it?
The focus is currently more on the process as opposed to the Qi master - any preference?
Any ideas for a title?
etc.
Thanks

Warhol banned from Olympics
Officials say there is no "Chinese art only" policy, but 18 Warhol works slated for a gallery exhibit will spend the Olympics in a warehouse.
The exhibit, Andy Warhol Portraits: Sports, Stars, and Society, was to have opened on July 26 and run through Aug. 21 at Faurschou Gallery, a space in the city's trendy 798 Art District.
However the Ministry of Culture has refused to grant a license on the grounds that it was inappropriate to allow an exhibition of works by a foreign artist during the Olympics, according to Kai Heinze, the Danish director of the gallery.
While most measures have been implemented in the name of security against terrorist attacks, such worries clearly don't explain the Warhol ban. Instead, the move is a result of Chinese cultural protectionism, alleges Heinze. The 798 District—an area in northeastern Beijing that takes its name from a former military factory and now houses art galleries, cafés, and shops—is a top tourist draw, and with so many visitors in town for the Games, Heinze says, the government wants to showcase local artists. "We have received information that a resolution has been passed that only Chinese works are supposed to be on show as more than 40 different heads of state will be touring 798 during the Olympics," he says.
For its part, the Ministry denies any official policy barring foreign works from being shown during the Olympics. "This accusation is false," says Cai Lian, an official with the ministry's Office of European Affairs responsible for working with the gallery. "We did deny them permission from holding the exhibit but not for the reasons that Faurschou mentioned. It was illegal for the gallery to import works before the exhibition was registered. We are doing the registration now, but it has not been approved."
In response, Heinze says the gallery was told by a ministry official on July 14 that permission had been denied "for reasons that have to do with the Olympic Games."
The gallery had tried to curate the show with China's sensitivities in mind. For example, Warhol's famous silkscreen portraits of Chairman Mao were not part of the 18-piece collection. The works include portraits of tennis star Chris Evert, soccer legend Pelé, baseball Hall of Famer Tom Seaver, and boxing great Muhammad Ali, as well as images of Michael Jackson, Sitting Bull, and crime boss John Gotti.
Faurschou Beijing, which is a branch of Copenhagen-based Galleri Faurschou, has hosted several exhibitions of foreign artists since opening its doors last December, including a highly successful show featuring the works of Robert Rauschenberg. Warhol's works have shown on the mainland as well, most recently at an exhibition entitled "The King of Pop Art" Art+Shanghai space which closed on June 18.
Heinze says he is confident that once the Paralympics end Sept. 20, the show will be able to go ahead. In the meantime Warhol's works will spend the Olympics in a customs warehouse, at a cost of $200 per day for storage—billed to the gallery. Officials say there is no "Chinese art only" policy, but 18 Warhol works slated for a gallery exhibit will spend the Olympic... more -

China adopts pole dance exercise classes as "clean, fun, social activity"...
The New York Times reports that pole dancing, an activity traditionally associated with sex, is nudging its way into the mainstream Chinese exercise market, with increasing numbers of gyms and dance schools offering classes.
Luo Lan, a 39 year old woman, opened the Lolan Pole Dancing School after discovering pole dancing in Paris.
She realized that if she could take away the shadier aspects and repackage it into an activity more acceptable to mainstream Chinese women, she might create a Chinese fitness revolution. Here was an exercise that would allow women to stay fit and express their sexuality with an unprecedented degree of openness and freedom.
But she remains keenly aware of the challenges in a society where traditional values dictate that women be loyal, faithful and modestly dressed.
Many Chinese, who disapprove of its sexual movements, consider it unruly and licentious.
But those who embrace pole dancing for fitness are a snapshot of urban youths whose values are changing from those of their parents.
“A lot of people expect Chinese women to be subdued and faithful, that we should marry and take care of kids at an early age,” said Jiang Li, 23, “But I don’t think that way — I want to be independent. I’ve been studying traditional Chinese dance for many years, but this is totally different. I feel in control when I do this. If I learn this well, I feel I can be a superstar. I want to be a superstar.”
Is the advent of polce dancing a good thing for China? Are you surprised that something considered so Western and sexual is gradually being absorbed into China's restrictive society? What impact do you think it will have on Chinese society? A Brief Summary of the Uses of Hemp
Our Challenge to the World: Try to Prove Us Wrong
If all fossil fuels and their derivatives, as well as trees for paper and construction were banned in order to save the planet, reverse the Greenhouse Effect and stop deforestation;
Then there is only one known annually renewable natural resource that is capable of providing the overall majority of the world’s paper and textiles; meeting all of the world’s transportation, industrial and home energy needs; simultaneously reducing pollution, rebuilding the soil, and cleaning the atmosphere all at the same time…
And that substance is—the same one that did it all before—
Cannabis Hemp…Marijuana!
Ships & Sailors
Ninety percent* of all ships’ sails (since before the Phoenicians, from at least the 5th century B.C. until long after the invention and commercialization of steam ships, mid-to late-19th century) were made from hemp.
*The other 10% were usually flax or minor fibers like ramie, sisal, jute, abaca, etc.
(Abel, Ernest, Marijuana: The First 12,000 Years, Plenum Press, 1980; Herodotus, Histories, 5th century B.C.; Frazier, Jack, The Marijuana Farmers, 1972; U.S. Agricultural Index, 1916-1982; USDA film, Hemp for Victory, 1942.)
The word “canvas”1 is the Dutch pronunciation (twice removed, from French and Latin) of the Greek word “Kannabis.”*
*Kannabis, of the (Hellenized) Mediterranean Basin Greek language, derived from the Persian and earlier Northern Semitics (Quanuba, Kanabosm, Cana?, Kanah?) which scholars have now traced back to the dawn of the 6,000-year-old Indo-Semitic European language family base of the Sumerians and Acadians. The early Sumerian/Babylonian word K(a)N(a)B(a), or Q(a)N(a)B(a) is one of man’s longest surviving root words.1 (KN means cane and B means two, two reeds or two sexes.)
In addition to canvas sails, until this century virtually all of the rigging, anchor ropes, cargo nets, fishing nets, flags, shrouds, and oakum (the main protection for ships against salt water, used as a sealant between the outer and inner hull of ships) were made from the stalk of the marijuana plant.
Even the sailors’ clothing, right down to the stitching in the seamen’s rope-soled and (sometimes) “canvas” shoes, was crafted from cannabis.*
*An average cargo, clipper, whaler, or naval ship of the line, in the 16th, 17th, 18th, or 19th centuries carried 50 to 100 tons of cannabis hemp rigging, not to mention the sails, nets, etc., and needed it all replaced every year or two, due to salt rot. (Ask the U.S. Naval Academy, or see the construction of the USS Constitution, a.k.a. “Old Ironsides,” Boston Harbor.)
(Abel, Ernest, Marijuana, The First 12,000 Years, Plenum Press, 1980; Ency. Britannica; Magoun, Alexander, The Frigate Constitution, 1928; USDA film Hemp for Victory, 1942.)
Additionally, the ships’ charts, maps, logs, and Bibles were made from paper containing hemp fiber from the time of Columbus (15th century) until the early 1900s in the Western European/American World, and by the Chinese from the 1st century A.D. on. Hemp paper lasted 50 to 100 times longer than most preparations of papyrus, and was a hundred times easier and cheaper to make.
Incredibly, it cost more for a ship’s hempen sails, ropes, etc. than it did to build the wooden parts.
Nor was hemp use restricted to the briny deep… A Brief Summary of the Uses of Hemp Our Challenge to the World: Try to Prove Us Wrong ... more -

military trainers at Guantánamo Bay taught Chinese torture/interrogation technique...
military trainers at Guantanamo bay used a 50 year old interrogation chart that the Chinese used to coerce American soldiers into giving false confessions during the Korean war. Authorities are ruling the girl's death as suicidal. But to add to the family's misery... the AFP has reported that her uncle was pronounced dead on Saturday. He was beaten up by CCP officials for voicing anger over the death of his niece.
After hearing the news angry crowds then set fire to police stations and cars. The county office building of the Chinese Communist Party was then burned to the ground.
