Solar Decathlon
Eighteen college teams competed to show the world (and the judges) that solar energy is a viable alternative to power our everyday lives. The Solar Decathlon teams built fully-functional houses on the National Mall to showcase their ideas about how to integrate solar power into everything from washing a load of laundry to making the drive to the grocery store. But even though the competition took place down the street from Congress, the government may not be the best option to bring solar energy into the mainstream.
