    • Co-Founder of Facebook to leave firm

Dustin Moskovitz, co-founder of social-networking start-up Facebook Inc., said he would leave the company in about a month.

Mr. Moskovitz founded the social-networking Web site with Mark Zuckerberg, who is now Facebook's chief executive, while they were both students at Harvard University several years ago.

Justin Rosenstein, a Facebook engineering manager, will also leave the company to join Mr. Moskovitz in starting a new software business. In a message left on Mr. Moskovitz's Facebook page, the two said they have been working on software for business users and wanted to incorporate the software into Facebook.

"But at some point it became clear that doing so wouldn't be good for Facebook or for us," he wrote. Mr. Moskovitz wrote that he sees the new venture as complementary to Facebook.

Several other executives have left Facebook over the past 18 months, including Owen van Natta, who served as chief revenue officer and chief operations officer; Adam D'Angelo, its former chief technology officer; and Matt Cohler, vice president of product management.

"Dustin has always had Facebook's best interest at heart and will always be someone I turn to for advice," said Mr. Zuckerberg in a statement.

    • MySpace president is Paris Hilton's latest accessory?

      ---------------------------------------------
It's not the sort of TechCrunch post you see every day: the Valley blog reported on Friday night that Chris DeWolfe, president of News Corp.'s MySpace, is dating ubiquitous heiress Paris Hilton. It's been going on for a few weeks, editor Michael Arrington wrote, adding that he was tipped off to it when he saw the two together in a video clip from paparazzi site X17.

The gossip column of the New York Post has also mentioned offhand that Hilton has been spotted at parties in a house that DeWolfe has rented in Southampton, N.Y. (That's an upscale summer party town on Long Island, for those of you unfamiliar with mid-Atlantic geography.)

DeWolfe, 42, is married but going through a separation process, according to TechCrunch. Hilton, 27, ostensibly still has a boyfriend, but really, who the heck knows?

Maybe this is what happens after Paris Hilton articulates her proposed energy policy via Web video and receives a resoundingly positive response: she stops dating Greek shipping heirs, B-list musicians, and reality show stars, opting instead for digital-media executives.

It also might be a publicity stunt, a sort of way for DeWolfe to make a statement about MySpace's identity. I mean, could you ever see Mark Zuckerberg doing something like this? TMZ.com once hounded the young Facebook founder as he walked out of a chic restaurant in L.A. with a cute date. In fact, she was his girlfriend of several years; all the pair was willing to do for the cameras was laugh for a few minutes and then walk away.

      ---------------------------------------------------------

Wow.. first the amazingly clever ad, now she is dating a geek... did she just become a GOOD role model? or is it a publicity stunt on Myspace's behalf...... either way she's chipping away some points as far my being the biggest annoying B**** in my opinion......

What do you think? and this a TMZ thing so you know its for real...

as far as the picture--- i wanna see if that plays a role in current popularity equation

    • F8: Zuckerberg insults underlings, Al Gore and audience at developer conference

The only word to describe Facebook cofounder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg's keynote at the company's second annual F8 developer conference.? Awkward. In this clip, Zuckerberg tries to demonstrate how useful Facebook platform applications are by comparing iLike to MySpace, Zynga to Las Vegas and Causes to β€” wait for it β€” Al Gore. Clearly, Zuck's speechwriters meant the whole thing as a kind of joke β€” the kind they should have known Zuck wouldn't be able to deliver. As usual, Zuck throws his employees under the bus for his inability to speak in public: "Not sure where the team came up with these examples. They're pretty funny." Yes, Mark, we're not cringing at you, we're cringing with you! The only word to describe Facebook cofounder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg's keynote at the company's second annual F8 developer c... more

    • Facebook wins four-year lawsuit against ConnectU

Facebook have two reasons to celebrate.

Not only has the social networking site just recently celebrated their four-year anniversary, but their long court battle with ConnectU has come to an end last Wednesday.

The reason behind this lawsuit is that twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss and Divya Narendra accused Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg of stealing their idea while they were all attending Harvard University, claining that he used the source code he was hired to develop ConnectU.

However, Judge James Ware stick by on a settlement from February between both companies. Several factors behind his decision was that following the $15 billion valuation, "Facebook's board of directors determined a value of the company's shares which was different than the valuation disclosed in the press release" presenting the Microsoft investment.

What was once and still is for college students, Facebook has increased its membership to even teens and adults of all ages, as its membership continues to go up at almost 40 million members. ConnectU, on the other hand, is said to have 15,000 members and available at 200 schools.

After the verdict, Facebook issued an statement:

"We are happy that Judge Ware enforced the agreement settling our dispute with the ConnectU founders. ... The ConnectU founders understood the deal they made, and we are gratified that the court rejected their false allegations of fraud. ... We were disappointed that we had to litigate the settlement, as we believed we were caught in the middle of a fee dispute between ConnectU's founders and its former counsel. Nevertheless, we can now consider this chapter closed and wish the Winklevoss brothers the best of luck in their future endeavors."

    • "Live, from New York, it's...Mark Zuckerberg?"

"In a surprise move that has shocked Silicon Valley, young Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg will guest host an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live, according to multiple sources.

"The mild-mannered Zuckerberg, best-known for vanilla-flavored speeches filled with talking points about 'the social graph' and 'making communication more efficient,' will provide the opening monologue as well as appear in a number of sketches on the NBC show's April 5 episode.

"Appearing on the sketch comedy show is something Zuckerberg has wanted to do for a long time, a close friend confided to CNET News.com. 'Mark actually has really good comic timing,' the friend said on condition of anonymity, out of the fear that Zuckerberg might 'de-friend' him on Facebook if his identity were revealed. 'He's got this totally hilarious side that nobody ever gets to see, except his stuffed animals and sometimes his investors. Ever since Justin Timberlake did that sweet music video on the show, he's been aching to go on SNL. He had his assistant call up NBC but they were all like, 'Mark who?'"

    • Notorious social network hacker exposes Paris Hilton's Facebook

A security breach on Facebook allowed a Vancouver computer technician to find photos of a partying Paris Hilton and ones of her younger brother in private online albums intended to be accessible only to their friends.

Byron Ng, who last July cracked the security behind the then-unreleased novel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, discovered the security hole when he was checking out an earlier breach that had been fixed by Facebook.

"It's just lazy programming I guess," Ng said of the glitch which allowed surfers to find people based on tags put on photographs.

While Facebook users can control access to their social networking sites, the practice of "tagging," or putting names to photos allowed Ng to access them. After Facebook closed the breach this week, the photos were only accessible if you had the URL.

Based on Ng's findings, The Vancouver Sun was able to access an album of clearly unedited and sometimes red-eyed, poorly lit snapshots tagged as Whitney Hilton - Paris's full name is Paris Whitney Hilton - from an album entitled Emmy Night. From there, it was possible to view the "friends" of Whitney Hilton

    • Mark Zuckerberg, Middle East peace envoy

At South By Southwest, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said his company doesn't "want to be in the business of deciding who's a country." And yet, inescapably, it is -- right down to drawing borders. Facebook classified some West Bank towns as being in Palestine instead of Israel. This angered some Jewish settlers who wanted to be classified as living in Israel. On the other side of the fence, some Palestinians want East Jerusalem to be listed as part of Palestine. Facebook, in an effort to stay neutral, Facebook has given users the option of choosing which country they wish to identify with. We're just waiting for the Zionist-conspiracy wingnuts to notice that Zuckerberg is Jewish. • SXSW: Zuckerberg Keynote Descends Into Chaos as Audience Takes Over

Ballroom A of the Austin Convention Center was packed to capacity Sunday evening for an hour-long interview with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the keynote speaker at this year's South by Southwest Interactive festival. The 23-year-old billionaire founder of the social networking site was interviewed on stage by author and journalist Sarah Lacy. Using her unique, friendly style of interviewing -- closer to two friends chatting than a straight question-and-answer session -- Lacy tried to get the notoriously tight-lipped Zuckerberg to open up. But the discussion rarely strayed beyond the usual business fare and eventually descended into a string of awkward moments punctuated by the audience's heckling. "Facebook wants to turn every member into a spokesman for its advertisers. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and chief executive of the superhot social network, today announced what the company calls 'social ads.'
