    • Oh we got yr "times are a changin'" right here, Lord!

Cody Chesnutt has joined the slightly disturbing fray of musicians writing folk-hero worship songs about Barack Obama.

For us, these songs have become less inspiring and more scary in the passing months—just because they seem to hinge some John Henry-level hopes on a cat who, let’s face it, will be reeeally busy a.) playing Jenga with G-Dub’s screw-ups and b.) double-talking in order to get this “unified,” cooperative-party nation he’s banking on. It’s not likely he’s gonna be able to pave this country’s streets with gold, leave booty-shakin’ video chicks, ripe for your pickin’, in his wake when his cavalcade comes to your town, provide your children’s children’s children with free education and high-paying jobs, dap you up like he did Michelle just because you’re within ten feet of him after one his State of the Union addresses, *and* end the war.

It’s just too much pressure, okay? Set the bar a little lower. Stop praying to him like he’s a deity. Stop writing encomiums about his goodness.

He’s not a fable, celebrities. He’s just a man of sinew and bone.

But we’ll see, right? And, as Obama himself never ceases to remind us, there’s nothing wrong with having really high, almost delirious, vapor-catching Hope.

Anyway, pedestal-placing aside, the song, called "AfrObama" >> http://www.zshare.net/audio/1356292293d434e1/ <<, sounds cool, if you’re into Cody Chesnutt or children chanting or acoustic guitar.

      Can you watch this video?
And if you watch it, how much do you feel?
      And what do you feel?
How many people have to see this until it no longer exists?
And when those people see it, how many of them will feel strongly,
and how many will not care?
Can a video really get you to care? And if a lot of people care,
does that mean anything? It is reassuring to know that other people
feel the same sense of horror that I do. But what good is that?
The wolf is still trapped. His cranium will still be smashed by that fur trapper.

I'm trying to make sense of this. I see that man's foot and I see the animal's crushed throat underneath, and I wonder how some humans can do what other humans could never.

DISCLAIMER: I could only watch about 1:20 of it.
I will watch the rest at some point.

    • Body types and Handbag Style

Most women cannot leave the house without bringing a purse or a handbag with them. After all, carrying a purse along is a convenient way of lugging loose change, a cell phone, a compact, a comb, a lipstick, keys, a vial of perfume, reading material, and all the other stuff that women cannot leave home without. Toting a purse or a handbag saves women from having stuffed and bulky pockets, if they have pockets at all.
