A Premature Burning
The Man is on fire! Most Burners were enjoying the lunar eclipse when people started to notice smoke and flames coming from the infamous Man, positioned in the middle of the Black Rock City. Officials were on site immediately to combat the flames while onlookers cheered "Save the Man". Eventually the fire was put out and the Man was safe once again albeit very badly charred. Early Burner gets prison sentence.
The man who burned the man early at last year's Burning Man, has been sentenced to up to four years.
'Paul Addis pleaded guilty in May to one felony count of injury to property stemming from the burning of the 40-foot icon on Aug. 28 - four days earlier than planned. Alleged Burning Man arsonist accused of trying to burn Grace Cathedral...
The man accused of setting the Burning Man on fire four days early has been arrested for allegedly planning to set Grace Cathedral ablaze, San Francisco police said today.
Deputy Chief Morris Tabak said Addis had only a small amount of explosives.
"Did he have the capability to do substantial damage? Absolutely not," Tabak said.
Tabak said police didn't know what Addis' alleged motive was. "He said something about it was his religious right," Tabak said.
