George Clooney And Sarah Larson Broke Up??
George Clooney and Sarah Larson have broken up? Why do I not believe this rumor? And why does InTouch only have the story? This is what they are saying….
A friend of Sarah’s has revealed to the magazine that Sarah moved out of George’s house in LA.
“George is relieved to be single again,” says an insider. “He thinks Sarah is sweet and that is why it was so hard to break up with her.”
And the reason for the break-up?
“The truth is that they had little in common and he just doesn’t want to be tied down,” explains the insider.
How did George’s rep comment?
“I can only confirm that we have never commented on George’s personal life.”
That’s no fun…now we can pretend it’s the truth! But I think it isn’t…these two are in it for the long haul. George Clooney and Sarah Larson have broken up? Why do I not believe this rumor? And why does InTouch only have the story? This is wha... more -
Indian billions tie Bollywood to Hollywood at Cannes
Bollywood has met Hollywood at the Cannes Film Festival, with George Clooney, Tom Hanks and Brad Pitt signing rupee-spinning deals for big movie collaborations.
India produces more films than any other country, and sells more than four billion cinema tickets a year, far more than in America. Now one of its biggest companies is to become a significant Hollywood player, it was announced yesterday in Cannes.
Reliance Big Entertainment, part of a $100 billion (£50 billion) Indian conglomerate, is to invest in development funds for eight production companies owned by Alist stars: they include Nicolas Cage’s Saturn Productions, Jim Carrey’s JC 23 Entertainment, Clooney’s Smokehouse Productions, Hanks’s Playtone Productions and Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment.
The Indian company, owned by Anil Ambani, ranked the world’s sixth-richest man in the Forbes list, is offering an initial $1 billion investment in Hollywood. It is a vital injection of cash for the US studios at a time when equity financing has dried up with the credit crunch. It also offers the Americans a foothold in India.
Amit Khanna, Reliance’s chairman, said: “Reliance Entertainment has a dominant position in India but, when it comes to motion pictures, it has been obvious that we need to extend our footprint to Hollywood . . .
“Bollywood is somehow personified by song and dance and Hollywood by sex and violence, and there is this idea that neither can meet. We don’t believe this is true.”
The film-makers Chris Columbus and Jay Roach have also signed up with Reliance Big Entertainment.
“With this deal, we hope to develop up to 30 scripts, of which hopefully, ten will go into production,” Mr Khanna said. “The value of this slate of films will be worth a billion dollars. The films will be made in the next two years under different genres and will have a range of budgets.”
But Kishore Lulla, chairman of Eros International, a leading Indian studio with a catalogue of 2,000 films, said that Hollywood was too risky.
“It is a dangerous area to go in,” he said. “I do not want to play that volatile game. I am sitting on a goldmine market, which is India. There will be major growth in India in the next five years, whereas Hollywood growth has plateaued out in the last five years.”
Mr Lulla’s company is making 35 films this year alone, including one with Aishwarya Rai, the Bollywood actress, who has also been in Cannes this week.
The agreement was signed as the Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas is preparing to shoot what is believed to be the first American co-production filmed in India.
Racing the Monsoon, a sequel to Romancing the Stone, will be about a diamond robbery in India. It will also star Catherine Zeta-Jones, Douglas’s wife, and Matt Damon.

New mayor of Rome to blacklist Hollywood stars
"The new mayor of Rome, Gianni Alemanno, a former fascist, has launched a campaign to promote Italian films at the expense of those featuring Hollywood stars such as Nicole Kidman and Leonardo DiCaprio, who are to be blacklisted.
American actors who flocked to Rome for its film festival will no longer be invited, on the orders of Alemanno, 50, of the National Alliance party, who last week became the first rightwinger to win the mayor’s job in 15 years.
“Italian cinema used to be in great shape, now it doesn’t exist any more. So what are we celebrating? Nicole Kidman and Leonardo DiCaprio?” he asked.
George Clooney is also unlikely to be welcomed back to Rome; he warmly praised Alemanno’s centre-left-wing predecessor, the failed presidential candidate Walter Veltroni. "

George Clooney in feud with writers union
Los Angeles, Apr 4 : George Clooney has quietly withdrawn from the Writers Guild of America after the union rejected his request for a writing credit on his new film “Leatherheads,” according to reports on Friday.
Clooney opted to become a “financial core status” non member last fall, which means that he is still covered by the basic contract, the trade paper said.
But he loses his voting rights, and cannot run for office or attend membership meetings, according to the WGA’s constitution. He must continue to pay his dues, but gets a break on “non-germane” WGA activities, such as political and lobbying efforts. His decision is also irrevocable.
Clooney, 46, directed, produced and stars in “Leatherheads,” a screwball period football comedy that opens across North America on Friday via General Electric Co’s Universal Pictures. Despite mixed reviews, it is expected to be the top draw at the weekend box office.
He had sought to receive a writing credit alongside Duncan Brantley and Rick Reilly, claiming that he personally gave the duo’s languishing 17-year old project a major overhaul.
Clooney, who received an Oscar nomination two years ago for co-writing “Good Night, and Good Luck,” told Daily Variety that he felt he had written all but two of the scenes for “Leatherheads.” His request for credit was voted down 2-1 at an arbitration hearing.
“When your own union doesn’t back what you’ve done, the only honorable thing to do is not participate,” the paper quoted Clooney as saying.
He said he would have resigned from the union altogether — a revocable move — but that would have prevented him from working on all WGA-covered productions. He kept quiet about his move, because the union was about to go on strike for the first time in almost two decades, and he did not want to provide an unwelcome distraction. Clooney was a keen supporter of the 100-day strike, which ended almost two months ago. And to You Whoopi Goldberg, Bravo!!
As most people probably already know by now, Sunday night’s Academy Awards featured many montages, one of which was described as a “Montage of Oscar Hosts.” That montage included almost every host in the show’s history. But there was one host who was not included, the 4-time host and Academy Awards winner Whoopi Goldberg.
Until now, most writers have described what took place on "The View" the next day simply in terms of how displeased and upset Whoopi's co-hosts were about the slight. However, there is a different, possibly more plausible perspective on what actually took place Monday on "The View." Consider that not only does Whoopi have to suffer the daily indignity of being reduced to just another “chatting-head”, but also that her co-hosts insisted upon going on and on, in front of millions of American people, rubbing in the fact that the Oscar winning and Oscar hosting actress had not been shown in Sunday's montage. Dumb and dumberer Elisabeth Hasselbeck babbled on and on about how it must feel so terrible to have been so slighted. Placing a cherry atop the poison pudding, the ever-duplicitous Barbara Walters intimated that nothing Whoopi had ever done at the Oscars was really a Great Moment anyway.
Whoopi just sat there, looking unbelievably miserable, trying to collect the remaining shards of her dignity that were being scattered around the set. When the others just wouldn’t stop, Whoopi quietly got up and gave each of them “the kiss of death” just to shut their mouths, briefly weeping when she got behind Barbara Walters.
Update: On Tuesday, the producer of the Oscar awards show apologized to Whoopi for leaving her out. The View should be interesting to watch tomorrow.
Photographs, the video of the "Oscar Hosts Montage" and the video of Monday's embarrassing moments on "The View" are included. As most people probably already know by now, Sunday night’s Academy Awards featured many montages, one of which was described as a “Mo... more -

George Clooney aims to shine celebrity light on UN
United Nations, Feb 1 : Academy Award winning US actor George Clooney became a UN messenger of peace on Thursday, pledging to use his fame to "shine a light" on peacekeeping efforts, particularly in Sudan's Darfur.
But Clooney was blocked from delivering a message on his recent trip to Darfur in western Sudan, Chad and the Democratic Republic of Congo to a meeting of nations contributing peacekeeping troops.
Diplomats said several countries including Russia had objected to his presence as inappropriate.
Instead, Clooney delivered the message to a news conference. "The message is the world is watching and that at this point we cannot afford to fail," he said.
"Millions are homeless, not from famine or disease or acts of God, but from a well armed militia intent on ridding the land of its people."
With fellow actors Don Cheadle and Brad Pitt, Clooney, 46, has used his celebrity status to raise money for refugees through their "Not On Our Watch" charity and draw attention to the crisis in Darfur.
The United Nations is trying to deploy a peacekeeping force in Darfur, where experts say some 200,000 people have been killed and more than 2 million driven from their homes in fighting between Sudan's government and rebels.
