    • Palin's Apocalypse

ANP: Would biblical prophecies influence Palin's foreign policy positions? Nobody's asking her so far.

Does Sarah Palin believe in the Anti-Christ? Does she believe true Christians will be whisked up to heaven sometime in the near future? Does she expect Jesus to come back to earth in our lifetimes and battle the armies of Satan? Would biblical prophecies about Armageddon influence her foreign policy positions on Israel and Russia? These are urgent questions the media have failed to ask. According to Chip Berlet, a leading expert on the Christian right, mainstream reporters tend to view apocalyptic fundamentalists as a "silly little side show" in American political life, when, in fact, one of their own may soon be a heartbeat away from the most powerful office in the world.

    • Will the US Develop a Death Ray?

A band of pre-eminent scientists and war-fighters has concluded that the nation's military might isn't powerful enough for the 21st Century; and so the National Research Council (NRC), an independent, congressionally-chartered body charged with assessing scientific issues, is urging the Pentagon and Congress to get cracking on developing a weapon capable of hitting any target in the world within an hour of being launched.

The NRC's Committee on Conventional Prompt Global Strike Capability believes that there are threats (like nuclear terrorism) that the Pentagon's fleets of attack planes and missiles cannot handle and which have to be stopped with the immediacy of the push of a button by a future U.S. President. It's not quite a "death ray" but it's the closest existing technology can get to that fantasy weapon. Still, skeptics roll their eyes and say that the report's authors are like a bunch of junior high school boys who have seen all the James Bond movies and believe that if a weapon can be built, it must be built.

To be sure, there are serious arguments both for and against developing such a system. Part of the justification is that the U.S. military already has such a capability. Unfortunately, it's nuclear, which renders it worthless for anything but Armageddon. But for about $1 billion, over the next three years, the nation could convert some Trident missiles — now limited to carrying nuclear warheads in their submarine launchers — to non-nuclear weapons. The plan favored by the NRC panel would replace two of the 24 nuclear missiles on each of the Navy's 12 Trident subs with conventional-armed missiles.

The plan backed by the panel calls for putting up to four non-explosive "dispersible kinetic energy projectiles" atop each missile. Each GPS-guided projectile would contain about 1,000 tungsten rods that would strike the target at a mile a second (a fuse could spew them more widely across the ground, with less impact, or let all 250 pounds hit the same point for maximum destruction). The force of a single rod, the report says, would be similar to that of a hefty 50-caliber bullet. The lack of any explosive would generate precise mayhem, "comparable to the type of limited damage caused by meteor strikes," it adds.

Sounds nifty, until you read the fine print. It notes that Pentagon studies "indicate that in most cases, a single CTM [Conventional Trident Modification] KEP [Kinetic Energy Projectile] will have a high kill probability against fixed soft targets if target geolocation accuracy and guidance, navigation, and control accuracy are as predicted.

Beyond picking off terrorists and nuclear warheads stuck at border crossings, the report cites a couple of potentially cataclysmic events where a conventional strike from out of the blue could save the day. The system would be perfect for destroying an enemy missile carrying a nuclear warhead on its launch pad (apparently, the NRC has some doubts about the effectiveness of the nation's "Star Wars" missile shield and the utility of hundreds of warplanes). It would also be ideal for taking out an unexplained super-weapon (perhaps an electro-magnetic pulse nuclear bomb) that could lead to the "loss of numerous satellites crucial to U.S. command and control."

The report does point out one area of potential trouble in its own proposal. Deploying two kinds of missiles together in the same submarine "raises at least the possibility of an accidental launch of a nuclear weapon instead of the intended launch of a conventional weapon because... prompt global strikes may often allow little time for second checks.

    • McCain's 'Judeo-Christian values' reference puzzles

By Peter S. Canellos, Globe Staff | August 19, 2008

WASHINGTON - On a frozen winter evening at a Town Hall meeting in a school in the Manchester, N.H., suburbs, John McCain expressed surprise and irritation with an intelligence report downplaying the threat of Iran's nuclear program.

At the end of a long list of reasons to be suspicious of the Iranians, McCain declared: "And they sure don't share our Judeo-Christian values."

It seemed at the time to be an odd thing to say about a Muslim country. After all, even if there were no nuclear program, no oil, and no rabble-rousing president, Iran still wouldn't have Judeo-Christian values. And it's troubling to wonder if that alone would be a reason for suspicion.

Even President Bush has resisted framing the war on terrorism as a clash of religions; his inexpert use of the word "crusade" early in the conflict set off a wave of criticism and backtracking. He's never repeated it.

Perhaps McCain's comment was a similar mistake.

But on Saturday, at the nationally televised forum at evangelist Rick Warren's Saddleback Church in California, McCain declared: "Our Judeo-Christian principles dictate that we do what we can to help people who are oppressed throughout the world."

And a review of online records by the Globe library shows that McCain uses the term "Judeo-Christian values" quite often, and in varying contexts. For example, last week in York, Pa., he praised small-town Americans by saying, "The Judeo-Christian values that they hold are the strength of America."

He has also repeatedly urged that illegal immigrants be treated in a manner "consistent with Judeo-Christian values." In February, he declared that job training was a Judeo-Christian imperative.

"We've got to educate and train these people," he said, referring to laid-off workers. "It is a Judeo-Christian values nation and it's an obligation we have and we are not doing it."

Last year, when he was criticized for telling the website Beliefnet that America was founded on Christian principles, McCain's defense was that he meant to say "Judeo-Christian." (When pressed, he said he believes a Muslim could serve as president.)

The term Judeo-Christian has a benign history. It was popularized by liberal groups in the 1920s and 1930s to forestall anti-Semitism. It has come to describe the underpinnings of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. McCain, who rarely talks about his personal faith and has disdained the religious right, often uses the term as a synonym for "American values."

But when discussing foreign policy, his use of the term can be glaring.

McCain's view of American power harkens back to the World War II era, when the United States held the moral high ground as liberator. He is a staunch interventionist, both on humanitarian and national-security grounds.

To most of the world, especially in Muslim nations, there is an enormous difference between standing up for freedom and standing up for Judeo-Christian values, but McCain conflates the two. And sometimes, his use of the term seems more than accidental.

"This just wasn't the elimination of a threat to Iraq - this was elimination of a threat to the West, part of this titanic struggle we are in between western Judeo-Christian values and principles and Islamic extremists," McCain said in 2006, after the killing of Al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

    • Pastor Hagee's Extreme Makeover

ANP: John Hagee gets a new "face", but is it really still the same old song and dance?

American News Project: In late May, after three months of deliberation, John McCain called Pastor John Hagee "crazy" and renounced his endorsement. But Hagee has come back stronger than ever -- thanks to friends like William Kristol, Joe Lieberman . . . and the public relations firm W5, which also represents Microsoft, Snoop Dogg and Pamela Anderson. This week in Washington, D.C., Hagee's non-profit organization, Christians United for Israel (CUFI), brought together five thousand supporters of the bedeviled pastor, and a new regime of media relations was much in evidence. Hagee avoided issues that have caused controversy in the past (Armageddon, homosexuals, God's purposes for the Holocaust, Hurricane Katrina, etc.). By pulling back the veil and conducting unauthorized interviews with several of Hagee's Christian Zionist followers, ANP reveals the fanatical ideology that still lies behind the CUFI's more restrained rhetoric.

    • Jupiter could cause Mecury to smash into the Earth

Three separate groups of scientists have used different computer simulations to predict the same frightening outcome. It is possible the massive gravitational pull of Jupiter could put the planet Mercury on a collision course with Earth.

The findings indicate that the solar system is not as stable as previously thought and that Mercury is susceptible to being pulled around on its orbit. This could lead to one of four scenarios:

Scenario 1: Mercury will crash into the Sun

Scenario 2: Mercury will be ejected from the solar system altogether

Scenario 3: Mercury will crash into Venus

Scenario 4: Worst-case-scenario, Mercury will crash into Earth.

Any such collision would spell the end for pretty much everything on the planet. The last time such a collision occurred the resulting debris formed the Moon. BUT, don’t start worrying just yet. There's only about a 1% chance that any of this will happen before the Sun becomes a red giant billions of years from now (and destroys life on Earth anyway).

Nico Marquardt used telescopic findings from the Institute of Astrophysics in Potsdam to calculate that there was a 1 in 450 chance that the Apophis asteroid will collide with Earth, which is a bit scarier that the 1 in 45,000 NASA predicted.

If the asteroid hits in 2036, it will create a ball of iron and iridium 320 metres (1049 feet) wide and weighing 200 billion tonnes, which will crash into the Atlantic Ocean.

As Queen Latifah says in the film 'Taxi' - "Buckle up motherf**ker!" We have 28 years left. Maybe.

    • TV is GOD! Kill your Television or Not.

I really like this photography studio called Institutional Green, their slogan is "finding beauty in the dissonance."

I really love this image because it really sums up what I am feeling about what mainstream television and network news and reality TV is all about.

People in this world have latched onto television as though it were the de facto truth teller. If its on the network news its got to be true. Which also means that if it's not on the network news, ah then it must be at the very least a lie and better yet a conspiracy. These people are watching this tube and they are doing everything it tells them to do; it creates confusion in their minds so they are always asking themselves "what do I do?" It exploits all their fears and vulnerabilities in order to assault their senses and manipulate their minds; to control their thoughts.

It demands obedience by showing us why we aren't happy and how to make ourselves happier if only we consume. It constantly is telling us that we are not good enough because we have body odor, we don't pee enough or we pee too much, we don't have enough hair or it isn't shinny enough, our bodies are too fat, we are ugly, we are over worked and need a vacation, we need to buy life insurance because we are definitely going to die some day, etc, and etc, and etc. I am sure many of you can think of dozens of commercial examples that would have demonstrated these things.

Television has become the god, the mighty oracle that validates reality for millions of people all over the world. It is the most powerful medium because it can speak volumes in seconds. It can make or break anyone at any time. There are but a few who control and wield such power and they are the corporations that own the airwaves and they ultimately decide the reality they want us to accept.

However on Current TV we have something entirely different than that so I don't entirely agree with the statement "kill your TV" because I can see that TV is the most powerful medium and what we need are more voices, more channels of communication. We need more current TV channels so more voices can be heard through this medium.

Demand equal access to the GOD so we can help to wake up GOD's children (metaphorically speaking of course!)

    • www.H2onE2.com Glacial Respiration, Conceptual Ring of Ice, The End of Linear West...

A Geological Exploration of an E2 Earthen Planet And the H2 Human Species
Author: B Billy Marse, Professional Geologist

      Brief Description:
www.H2onE2.com is an exploration of the universe, geology, climate, biology, humans, psychology, folklore and ancient structures to uncover the beginning and disclose the end of linear western religion. The true DaVinci Code behind the bible is not a supreme spiritual power but a scientific record of climate change described as Glacial Respiration. The Greek philosophers originated the practice of communicating a hidden idea or message in the short story format, as a metaphor. In the bible, metaphors conceal historic climate change within the fanciful stories. The theory of Glacial Respiration explains the myth behind the Holy Grail, structures such as the Great Pyramids, Stonehenge, Easter Island and is the knowledge that was collected in the Jewish Ark of the Covenant.
The environmental changes of Glacial Respiration determine all biological evolution and can explain why higher forms of intelligent humans developed. Further, Glacial Respiration releases the secret hidden by the Knights Templars, Masonic Order and all religions. Uncovers an advanced Blue-Blooded semi-industrial Atlantian Civilization that was built and destroyed many times over for the last million years. The book ends with an explanation of how linear western religion will be physically ended and describes the construction of the doomsday device capable of fulfilling its own self defining prophesy, “Revelations”. H2onE2 is a mind-expanding experience that stimulates the soul, instinct, intellect and is an almanac to the past, present and future of humanity. Rise, awaken and evolve into H3 human consciousness.
      The discovery:
As a Professional Geologist, I attempted to link the Dust Bowl/Great Depression to a pre-glacial condition or mechanism and ended up writing the book H2onE2. I felt that there was a strong connection between the Dust Bowl and transition back into Glacial Winter. I did notice that my professors scientifically crumbled every time I mentioned the relationship. I could not go back in time or locate indisputable proof. The proof came from understanding all educational disciplines including history and theology. I soon discovered that all religious text both eastern and western continually described significant climate change conditions relating to Glacial Respiration. For years I fought off mixing science and religion until I discovered that the origins of all religions were founded or created to help humans psychologically survive the harsh earthen environment. Without reason I soon accepted that the world's complicated religions were the same. This came true and I continued to write and discover. Everything came into place as though I was unlocking a 10,000-year-old puzzle. I also realized this puzzle was opened before I discovered it, by someone else, some other group. If so, further understanding of this knowledge might be extracted from significant historical events. Lastly, this is the vital information needed to make future predictions.

Book Review from Allen Kime owner of Matrix Bookstore
      http://www.matrixbookstore.biz/guest_authors.htm
      Hi Billy,

Well, I finished your book and I must say it is an astounding piece of work. I consider it one of the most insightful I've ever read. Provocatively frank and profoundly informative, it is the equivalent of (or exceeds) "Holy Blood, Holy Grail".

, your book will remain one of my prized possessions.

Darwin suggested that perhaps evolution was accelerated at times. While he didn't offer any explanation how it could be possible... you did.

Microsoft’s proposed $45 billion buy of Yahoo would give the Redmond, Wash company control over a top open source e-mail company, open source projects and an open source infrastructure. On September 17 of 2007, Yahoo bought Zimbra for $350 million. Yahoo’s infrastructure is built on BSD. Yahoo has released a myriad of software to the open source community and even sponsors some open source projects.

    • Golden Compass is a Blast! - Don't let the fuss about the Catholic League kee...

I just came from seeing the movie that has got many in the Catholic and Evangelical Christian Communities in an uproar. The film is about a totalitarian government that has control of both the political and religious institutions. It is called the Magesterium. According to Mrs. Coulter, the part played by Nicole Kidman, the job of the Magesterium is to tell people what to do and what to think for their own good. However, disobedience is dealt with swiftly and painfully.

The story tells us that their are many parallel universes with their own unique realities. However the Magesterium wishes to be able to cross over from one universe to the other so that they can eventually control all the universes; all of them. This is megalomania to the extreme and on steroids.

I can see why Religions like the Catholics and the Evangelicals are afraid of this movie. One of the witches in the movie says that "a war is coming, you may not think that it is your war but it is your war, you just don't know it yet." Sam Elliot who plays a character named Lee Scorsby asks the witch, "what is this here quarrel all about?" And she responds, "Nothing less than your free will."

Catholic and Evangelical religion is about taking away your free will and bringing it under the authority of the church. That is why this story hits home because the Magesterium is very much like their own authority.

The Alethiometer is a device that helps you to find out the truth. In my view the Alethiometer is an allegory for our own conscience, when it is properly tuned to the source of all life, it acts as an internal compass to guide us and to protect us from lies.

I was raised Catholic and Baptist, but today I do not call myself a Christian because I believe that most of the organized religions have, as predicted in the New Testament's book of Revelation, become the apostate church in direct opposition to the true faith of Jesus Christ. Remember the Beatitudes?

Organized religions are the cause of 99 percent of the problems our world faces today when it comes to terrorism, abortion and civil rights. I can no longer support a president who wraps himself in Christianity as though it were the purple robe of royalty. His words say one thing, while his actions speak volumes to me.

Our country was founded on separation of church and state, and this president has done more in the five years of his presidency to distort that separation and to blur the lines than any other. This is unacceptable and must be stopped.

I strongly urge my constituents and fellow followers of Christ to demand that President Bush be impeached for being a liar. He lied about Iraq and now it is clear that he has lied about being the good guy he and the rest of his cronies says he is.
