SYNOPSIS IN ENGLISH:
The document Visão Ambulante is a vision to Califa's world. He is an artesan who works at the touristic beaches of the southern zone of Rio de Janeiro - Ipanema and Copacabana. He lives with his wife and son in the northern working class neighbourhood called Ramos. Life there is sometimes violent and cruel. The hill where their house is located at, offers a shelter and is one of best places in the world to live in. The document reflects Califa's values and thoughts about work, life and death. Califa died of cancer in 2007. His legacy, thoughts and vision into human life lives on in this documentary.

Firm in trouble for slum tour with a twist
A Rio de Janeiro tour company could be in trouble for giving tourists too intimate a view of life in the city's notorious slums, including photo opportunities with drug gang leaders.
The Brazilian city's tourism chief said on Monday that the company, Private Tours, could be stripped of its license after a report in Sunday's Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper that it had set up meetings between traffickers and tourists.
The paper sent a reporter disguised as a foreign tourist on the 4-hour, $55 tour of Rocinha, the city's largest slum, that included visits to the "bocas de fumo" where traffickers sell drugs to Rio residents.
It said the traffickers told the tourists stories about their time in prison, described the life of a Rio drug dealer, and would then pose for pictures with their guns -- as long as their faces were not photographed.
That sounds soooo cool! As a huge fan of City of God and the City of Men TV series (not the lame movie) and Baile Funk, I'd be on this tour in a second. Tourists, meet the drug dealers of Brazil
Rio de Janerio's police are reportedly investigating claims that tourists visiting some of the city's notorious 'favelas' are being offered a chance to meet armed drug dealers.
According to the BBC, the police are believed to be looking into whether tourists are 'being put at risk' on guided tours of the Rio's shanty towns.
According to the BBC, the Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo has reported that one company offering such tours includes a chat with what it calls an "armed soldier".
One of the paper's journalists went on a tour of Rocinha - said to be the largest shanty town in Latin America, and whilst there was introduced to an armed man belonging to the faction that controls the sale of drugs in the area. Dengue Affects 50,000+ In Brazil
-- More than 55,000 people have been hit by dengue -- a sometimes deadly mosquito-borne virus -- around Rio de Janeiro in the last four months, Brazilian authorities said Thursday.
During the last four months, more than 55,000 cases of dengue have been reported in Brazil.
The disease killed 67 people so far this year in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro state, the state's Ministry of Health reported.
Nearly half of the deaths were children under the age of 13, the ministry said.
There are four types of the dengue virus, and all are carried by infected mosquitoes -- mainly the Aedes Aegypti mosquito -- according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Rio judge bans float on the Holocaust
A Brazilian judge has banned a float, intended for the Rio carnival, depicting the victims of the Holocaust and a Hitler figure.
The samba group can still parade, but they must remove the mannequins representing the dead bodies.
Not sure if i agree or not. I am all for the expression of ideas. I guess the concern seemed to be if it was offensive, respectful or something along those lines. Rio de Janeiro's police force has been left in the lurch just days before Carnival as several senior officers handed in their resignations after their commander was sacked. The state governor dismissed the military police head after he allowed a mass demonstration by officers over their pay.
