Fish found in boy's penis
Doctors were surprised to find a 2 cm long fish in the penis of a 14-year-old boy from India. Apparently, the fish had slipped up the penis and into the boy's bladder.
The patient was admitted to hospital with complaints of pain, dribbling urine and acute urinary retention spanning a 24-hour period. According to the boy, the fish slipped into his penis while he was cleaning his aquarium at home.
Professor Vezhaventhan and Professor Jeyaraman, who treated the boy and later wrote a paper on the case, explain: "While he was cleaning the fish tank in his house, he was holding a fish in his hand and went to the toilet for passing urine. When he was passing urine, the fish slipped from his hand and entered his urethra and then he developed all these symptoms."
After detecting the fish in the boy's bladder, Vezhaventhan and Jeyaraman used a technique known as cystourethroscopy to insert a special set of forceps down the patient's penis. Unfortunately, the fish was just too slippery to grip, so they resorted to using a rigid ureteroscope with a tool attached that is normally used for removing bladder stones.
The fish the urologists removed, which Practical Fishkeeping believes to be a small member of the Betta genus, measured 2cm long and 1.5cm wide.
Vezhaventhan and Jeyaraman report that a range of self-inflicted foreign bodies have been previously removed from the male genitalia and lower urinary tract.

Court grants injunction to stop woman cutting off ex's penis
An Australian man was granted a court injunction to stop his former girlfriend from trying to cut off his penis.
Tony Goodchild told the court that the woman was trying to hunt him down and threatening to "cut his penis off''. The unusual application caused laughter in the courtroom.
Goodchild, who was shaking and carrying two backpacks during the hearing, said he had been in hiding in the long grass from his ex since she had "bashed'' him up. "I'm pretty scared,'' he said, before swearing that he was telling the truth.
The judge told Goodchild he could only grant an interim domestic violence order - preventing his ex-girlfriend from approaching or threatening him - as she was not in court to answer to the case. The Thai Health Services Department has filed a lawsuit against Pratunam Polyclinic for castrating underage sex change candidates.
Officials hope that the legal action will constitute an example and discourage other clinics from providing the service that was made illegal last month when the Council of State ruled that commercial testicle-removal surgery was unlawful unless the procedure was carried out for diagnosed medical reasons.

Girl cuts off ex-boyfriend's penis
A Liberian girl has reportedly cut off the penis of her former boyfriend after he refused to take her back.
The victim, Musa S. Kromah, had previously gone out with the accused, a woman known only as Kadiatu, but refused to get back with her due to her criminal activities. As their conversation was coming to an end, Kadiatu asked Kromah to walk her home. On the way, she grabbed Kromah's penis and claimed that she was going to cut it off if he failed to give in to her romantic advances. When Kromah mistook the warning as a joke and continued to reject this former partner, the girl allegedly cut off a good portion of his penis.
The brother of the victim explained that Kromah is currently undergoing medical treatment at the John F. Kennedy Hospital in Sinkor, Liberia, but revealed that the incident was too terrible for human sight.

Male circumcision to help control AIDS in Africa?
Researchers and activists are calling for an increase in male circumcision to prevent HIV infection, particularly in vulnerable countries in eastern and southern Africa.
Several studies have shown strong evidence that male circumcision could prevent HIV infection. Some researchers even claim that it could be 80 % effective in protecting men against HIV infection.
Unfortunately, very little effort has been made to push for more men to go under the knife.
"This is a call to action... to call for male circumcision. It's been two years and still there is not enough money, focus to scale up effort and more needs to be done," said Dvora Joseph, head of the HIV department at Population Services International, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization.
One of the problems surrounding male circumcision is stigmatisation and a lack of eduction. A judge has ordered a 19-year-old man to write an apology to a the city of Saratoga Springs in New York for dressing in an offensive costume at a high school graduation.

Penis Pump Judge gains release
Donald Thompson, the former Creek County judge who became known as the “penis pump judge” after he was convicted of indecent exposure while adjudicating trials, has been released from prison.
Thompson, 61, married and the father of three adult children, was convicted in September 2006 on four counts of indecent exposure for using a penis pump while presiding over four trials in 2002 and 2003. He was sentenced to four, one year sentences in state prison, to be served consecutively, and fined $40,000. He has served about 20 months in prison. He will have to register as a sex offender with the Oklahoma Corrections Department and the Sapulpa Police Department within 72 hours.
The former judge had claimed the penis pump was a gag gift on his 50th birthday from a friend and despite eyewitness accounts, including police officers, he claimed he never used it.
Thompson had turned down a plea deal pre-trial which would have spared him prison with a guilty plea to three misdemeanor counts of outraging public decency. The plea deal would also have allowed him to keep his $93,468 annual pension.

Police in Congo have arrested 13 suspected sorcerers accused of using black magic to steal or shrink men's penises after a wave of panic and attempted lynchings triggered by the alleged witchcraft.
Reports of so-called penis snatching are not uncommon in West Africa, where belief in traditional religions and witchcraft remains widespread, and where ritual killings to obtain blood or body parts still occur.
Rumors of penis theft began circulating last week in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo's sprawling capital of some 8 million inhabitants. They quickly dominated radio call-in shows, with listeners advised to beware of fellow passengers in communal taxis wearing gold rings.
Purported victims, 14 of whom were also detained by police, claimed that sorcerers simply touched them to make their genitals shrink or disappear, in what some residents said was an attempt to extort cash with the promise of a cure.
"You just have to be accused of that, and people come after you. We've had a number of attempted lynchings... You see them covered in marks after being beaten," Kinshasa's police chief, Jean-Dieudonne Oleko, told Reuters on Tuesday.
Police arrested the accused sorcerers and their victims in an effort to avoid the sort of bloodshed seen in Ghana a decade ago, when 12 suspected penis snatchers were beaten to death by angry mobs. The 27 men have since been released.
"I'm tempted to say it's one huge joke," Oleko said.
"But when you try to tell the victims that their penises are still there, they tell you that it's become tiny or that they've become impotent. To that I tell them, 'how do you know if you haven't gone home and tried it'," he said.
Some Kinshasa residents accuse a separatist sect from nearby Bas-Congo province of being behind the witchcraft in revenge for a recent government crackdown on its members.
"It's real. Just yesterday here, there was a man who was a victim. We saw. What was left was tiny," said 29-year-old Alain Kalala, who sells phone credits near a Kinshasa police station.
