'Charlie Rose' by Samuel Beckett
Something has happened to PBS favorite "Charlie Rose." The erudite conversations and sober intellectualism have been replaced by an absurd world where illogic, inane dialogues, and open hostility rule. The one-on-one interview between Charlie and his guest begins as usual but quickly goes awry, so much so that Charlie is warned that, somewhere, a man named "Steve" is "not happy." Though this seemingly random statement might confuse us, Charlie understands it for what it is -- a threat. But who is "Steve" and why is he angry? And why does the mere mention of his name stop Charlie cold? Using appropriated footage from a single episode of "Charlie Rose," filmmaker Andrew Filippone Jr. creates something both disturbing and farcical in "'Charlie Rose' by Samuel Beckett." Something has happened to PBS favorite "Charlie Rose." The erudite conversations and sober intellectualism have been replaced by an ab... more

Jay Leno is in T-R-O-U-B-L-E
Mr. Leno could face disciplinary action from the WGA for writing his monologue.
Leno met with WGA West President Patric Verrone to discuss his decision to write his own monologue. During the meeting Leno was told that writing the monologue constituted a violation of WGA strike rules.
Did the other hosts "write" or just talk? I mean what do they mean by "write"? They all came back on air. If you just made it up in your head would that have been okay, or, is it the preparation that is most important. I am sure they all didn't just go on their shows and not say anything funny, or anything at all.

Despite the writers' stike, Ellen has continued to tape for her talk show. In her defense she says:
"I want to say I love my writers. I love them. In honor of them today, I'm not going to do a monologue," she's quoted as saying. "[But] people have traveled across the country. They've made plans. They're here. I want to do everything I can to make your trip enjoyable and give you a show."

Dems' letter that tried to censor Rush Limbaugh fetches 2.1 million on ebay
What the?
Majority Leader Harry Reid and 40 other Democratic senators, including White House hopefuls Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton signed a letter written to Limbaugh's boss, Clear Channel CEO Mark Mays. The letter complained of Limbaugh's "unpatriotic comments."
Ummm...Can you say abuse of power?
Mays scoffed at the letter and the letter ended up fetching 2.1 million on ebay. Rush then turned around and matched the 2.1 million with all funds going to "The Marine Corps - Law Enforcement Foundation."
Now Rush has his issues, I know that. But what were the Dems thinking? This is a scary abuse of power, trying to put pressure on a media outlet to censor a private citizen's freedom of speech.
41 signatures, including Hillary and Barack? Wow.
