Morgan Freeman discharged from hospital
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Morgan Freeman was discharged Thursday from a Tennessee hospital after the Oscar-winning actor was treated for broken bones and other injuries sustained in a weekend car crash in Mississippi.
Kathy Stringer, a spokeswoman for the Regional Medical Center, said Freeman was discharged but gave no other details.
The 71-year-old actor was hospitalized after the accident Sunday left him with a broken arm, broken elbow and shoulder damage.
Demaris Meyer, 48, of Memphis, a passenger in the car driven by Freeman, was also injured in the crash.
Freeman's lawyer, Bill Luckett, told the Memphis Commercial-Appeal in Thursday's editions that a divorce action is pending for the actor and Myrna Colley-Lee, his wife of 24 years. Luckett declined to provide details.
There was no answer Thursday at phone numbers for Luckett or for Freeman's publicist, Donna Lee.
No divorce papers have been filed in Tallahatchie County where Freeman owns a home with Colley-Lee, according to Tallahatchie County Chancery Clerk Anita Mullen Greenwood. Morgan Freeman is getting a divorce from his wife of 24 years, according to US reports.
The announcement comes just days after the actor survived a life-threatening car crash with another female passenger.
His lawyer told US TV program Access Hollywood that the actor and wife Myrna Colley-Lee 'are involved in a divorce action'.

The box-office behemoth, expected to pass the $400 million mark this week, is notorious as being the late Heath Ledger’s last completed movie.
Now Morgan Freeman, the 71-year-old actor who plays Batman’s techie Lucius Fox, is in serious condition following a car accident in Mississippi late Sunday night.
The Oscar-winning actor was driving his wife’s friend Demaris Meyer’s 1997 Nissan Maxima when it rolled off Tallahatchie County Highway 32, flipping over several times. Meyer was treated for minor injuries and released.
Freeman, who was driving to his Charleston home, reportedly suffered broken ribs and was air-lifted to Regional Medical Center in Tennessee.
This tragedy follows assault allegations made last month by the mother and sister of “Dark Knight” star Christian Bale. The 34-year-old Bale denied the charges. He’ll be back in court next month.
“Dark Knight,” is dedicated to both the 28-year-old Ledger, who died of an accidental overdose last Jan. 22, and Conway Wickliffe, 41, a stunt supervisor who died in a freak accident in London while setting up a car crash.
“The Dark Knight” joins a grim list of “cursed” flicks. The “Superman” hex struck Christopher Reeve, who shot to fame after starring in the 1978 movie, after he broke his neck in a horse riding accident. Television’s original “Superman,” George Reeves died in an apparent suicide in 1969.
The 1982 horror classic “Poltergeist” was haunted by the premature deaths of two of its female stars. Vanity Fair celebrity scribe Dominick Dunne’s daughter Dominique was murdered by her live-in lover soon after the film was finished. And Heather O’Rourke, the film’s child star, died in 1988 at age 12 of cardiopulmonary arrest prompted by Crohn’s disease. The Batman Curse?
The Dark Knight, the latest in a new series of films based on the popular DC Comics character Batman, has had the good fortune of grossing almost $400 million dollars through this past weekend. That good fortune has not rang true for some of its actors.
The Dark Knight received much fanfare months before its release due to the tragic death of Heath Ledger, who plays the latest incarnation of the Joker in the film. Many critiques have noted that this was Ledger's best work in an illustrious, albiet sadly cut short acting career.
Ledger was found unconscious in his apartment,in New York City on January 22, 2008. Emergency crews arrived soon after but were unable to revive him. His death occurred while The Dark Knight was in post production.
The Dark Knight was released on July 18, 2008 in North America and grossed $67,165,092 on its opening day, beating the previous record of $59.8 million held by Spider-Man 3(2007). Through this past weekend it has grossed over $397 million dollars.
On July 22, 2008, Christian Bale, who reprises his role as Batman appeared at a London police station by and was arrested in connection with an alleged verbal assault on his mother and sister. After being held for more than four hours, he was released on bail, pending further investigation. He has denied these allegations.

These incidents are obviously not linked, but we as a society like the intrigue of curses and I must feed the fire some. While traveling to promote his latest film The Dark Knight [click to read], actor Morgan Freeman was seriously injured in a car accident that took place Sunday night in North Mississippi.
According to reports, Freeman's 1997 Nissan Maxima flipped several times after Freeman over corrected the car after it veered off the edge of the road.

Actor Morgan Freeman is injured in car accident
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -- Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman was injured in a car accident late Sunday night and is in a hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Kathy Stringer said Freeman, 71, is in serious condition. The hospital is about 90 miles north of the accident scene in rural Tallahatchie County in the Mississippi Delta.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Ben Williams confirmed Freeman was in a wreck shortly before midnight Sunday, but said he was still gathering information and had few details Monday.
Clay McFerrin, editor of Sun Sentinel in Charleston, said he arrived at the accident scene on Mississippi Highway 32 soon after it happened about 4 miles west of Charleston, not far from where Freeman owns a home with his wife.
McFerrin said it appeared that Freeman's car was airborne went it left the highway and landed in a ditch.
"They had to use the jaws of life to extract him from the vehicle," McFerrin said. "He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point."
McFerrin said bystanders converged on the scene trying to get a glimpse of the actor.
When one person tried to snap a photo with a cell phone camera, Freeman joked, "no freebies, no freebies," McFerrin said.
The hospital where Freeman is being treated is commonly known as The Med, and is an acute-care teaching facility that serves patients within 150 miles of Memphis. JACKSON, Miss.
