With the airlines maintenance practices now in question, what about the places where there is little or no regulation or cameras. Do we have a Maintenance Crisis? You better believe it! Islamic extremists targeting kids
Islamic extremist terrorist groups are now specifically targeting schoolchildren by using cartoon-laden web sites.
The picture shows a site called Al-Fateh (The Conqueror) which is maintained by Hamas, combines songs and stories with the promotion of suicide terrorism.
It has graphic images on the site, one of which shows a decapitated woman who was a suicide bomber, as well as praising her for killing two policemen and wounding 17 innocent bystanders in an attack on Jerusalem, claiming she has been rewarded in paradise.
There are also reports that such terrorist groups are using online games to gain both new support and recruits, a tactic that appears to be succeeding everywhere in the Islamic world except Iraq.

Online Volunteer Shows Quality Video Production Doable via the Internet by Randy T...
Winnipeg, Canada -- It was 2004 when Detroit-based Kibben Miller came across an Internet-based volunteer opportunity that he saw as a perfect fit for both his lifestyle and skill set as a video editor. Although Miller was initially somewhat skeptical of whether or not the Internet could be used as an effective collaboration tool for video production, he soon proved otherwise. In his first production, he successfully co-ordinated and worked with three other online volunteers he had never met. And these four strangers, who were dispersed throughout North America, collaborated to produce a compelling Video for Canadian charitable organization Macdonald Youth Services (MYS), which aired on local television.
And after three years of successfully navigating cyberspace as an MYS Internet-based volunteer, Miller has some inspiring words for anyone considering online volunteering:
" ... regardless of what they think they can offer or they can't offer, there is going to be an organization that will welcome your work," commented Miller. "You don't have to have extraordinary computer skills and an elaborate setup to make a real significant contribution to the organization ...," added Miller.
"Whether from the Eastern US in Detroit or on the other end of the country in Portland connected via a coffee shop's wireless Internet connection, Kibben has been there for us," stated MYS Online Volunteer Program Developer Randy Tyler. "Methodical, experienced and creative, he has been an invaluable resource both as a video editor/producer and consultant," added Tyler.
To learn more about Kibben's motivations for online volunteering, the rewards and what has helped keep him involved for three years, MYS South Dakota-based online volunteer audio producer John Small interviewed Kibben. To listen to or to download the approximate nine minute interview (which was recorded on both ends and mixed in post production), please visit MYS's "About Online Volunteering" Web-based Resource and Podcast site now at:

How to Retain Online Volunteers, for Years - A Best Practices Example by MYS
Winnipeg, Canada -- After nearly seven years of online volunteering for a charitable organization 1200 miles away, Toronto area resident, Tu Loan St-Cyr, is taking a leave of absence from a charitable organization she has never seen. St-Cyr, who began Internet-based volunteering with Winnipeg-based charitable organization Macdonald Youth Services (MYS) in 2001, clearly demonstrates that an online volunteer can be retained for years if appropriately screened, assigned and recognized, even though the non-profit has never met their volunteer face-to-face.
"Never one to shy away from a challenge, Tu Loan is a dedicated, creative and reliable virtual volunteer, stated MYS Online Volunteer Program Developer," Randy Tyler. "For any non-profit organization, retaining Internet-based volunteers, like St-Cyr, is much more efficient and effective than frequently attempting to recruit new volunteers," added Tyler.
"I would like to share with you some great news and in turn inform you that I will be taking a leave of absence from MYS for a year commencing December of this year [2007]", stated St-Cyr in an e-mail to Tyler. "I will be taking a year off my regular job and would like to also take a leave of absence from MYS to concentrate on our newborn," continued St-Cyr.
To learn more about how this dedicated online volunteer was recruited, listen to MYS South Dakota-based online volunteer audio producer John Small's podcast interview with St-Cyr. The five minute interview can be downloaded or listened to online from MYS's "About Online Volunteering" Web-based Resource and Podcast site:

MoD Accused of Glamourising War
The MoD is denying claims that potential recruits to the armed forces are given a misleading picture of military life, including the physical risks and ethical dilemmas involved. According to a report published today, they are not always told that once they enlist, they have to stay in the forces for years, it says.
Britain is the only European country which recruits youngsters into the armed forces from the age of 16, though they cannot be deployed on operations until they are 18. The Ministry of Defence, which last night criticised the report, says this is the only way it can compete in the battle to attract school-leavers. However, today's report says the armed forces draw non-officer recruits mainly from among young people with "low educational attainment and living in poor communities". The MoD is denying claims that potential recruits to the armed forces are given a misleading picture of military life, including the p... more -
