Pangea Day is a global event with the goal of bringing the world together through film. The four hour show features 24 extraordinary short films, internationally renowned speakers, and live musical performances including Bob Geldof, The Eurythmics' Dave Stewart, and Iranian rock band Hypernova. It's a story the world needs to know, please help us tell it. I watched this video and three minutes into it my eyes welled up at the pictures this man took all over the world. From Palestine to the USA-yes, even the USA, you will see pictures of events that the human race will have a hard time being forgiven for.
On October 3, the story breaks - be a part of it. From New York City to Hong Kong, Zurich and a handfull of other locations throughout the world, an event will take place that you should be part of. The Earth is Expanding
This video is a Neal Adams animation about his theory that the Earth is growing. This differs from traditional Pangea understandings. Watch it, you will be amazed.
The Expanding Earth theory
is an attempt to explain the position and movement of continents (continental drift) on the surface of the Earth. The expanded earth theory (and plate tectonics) incorporates the appearance of new crustal material at mid-ocean ridges, but the process of subduction is largely absent in this model. So the continents drifted away from each other because of further expansion at the rip-zones, where oceans currently lie. The result is an increasing radius of the earth.
The theory has a relatively small following today, compared with the almost universally accepted theory of plate tectonics, and is considered to be discredited by mainstream geologists. Many of those that remain are proponents of the ideas of the late Australian geologist S. Warren Carey. While Carey's ideas were popular for a time in the 1950s and 1960s, most workers in earth science believe that evidence collected over the last several decades supports a fixed size Earth, due to subduction, over the expanded Earth.

Pangea Day is an international multimedia event conducted on May 10, 2008. Cairo, Kigali, London, Los Angeles, Milano, Mumbai, and Rio de Janeiro were linked to produce a 4-hour program of films, music and speakers. The program was broadcast live across the globe, culminating in a global drum circle, symbolizing the common heartbeat of the world. According to the festival organizers, "Pangea Day plans to use the power of film to bring the world a little closer together."
The films were chosen based on their ability to inspire, transform, and allow us see the world through another person’s eyes.

On Saturday, Current TV personalities Max Lugavere and Jason Silva co-host the international Pangea Day music and film festival. Wired.com caught up with the duo a few hours before showtime.
Wired: How did you prepare for this transcontinental broadcast? Lots of Red Bull?
Lugavere: Lots of sleep actually. This is the first time we've ever hosted in front of a live audience.
Wired: Where are you based during the broadcast?
Silva: We will physically be in Los Angeles, although during the broadcast we refer to it as Pangea Central.
Lugavere: Physically in L.A. but our voices will be heard in 150 plus countries. Quite a trip.

Swiss Chris' Drum Solo With Electrifying Effects: A tribute to Aung San Suu K...
Swiss Chris is no ordinary drummer. This video is his tribute to Aung San Suu Kyi, a Nobel Peace Prize recipient that is in jail for speaking of freedom and democracy in Burma.
Who is Aung San Suu Kyi?
* Known to much of the world as "Asia's Nelson Mandela", she currently leads a popular, nonviolent freedom struggle in Burma.
* In 1990, the year of Burma's last democratic election, her political party, the National League for Democracy, won 82% of the seats in parliament; however the ruling military regime refused to recognize the results.
* One year later, in 1991, while still under house arrest and leading a non-violent struggle for democracy she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
* The regime has kept her imprisoned for 11 of the past 16 years.
* She has won over 70 major international awards for her work on behalf of the people of Burma, including: the Nobel Peace Prize, Sakharov Prize (from the European Parliament) and the US Presidential Medal of Freedom.
In an increasingly jaded world of political apathy and power-hungry institutions, Aung San Suu Kyi is truly that rare heroine of legend - a symbol of hope - championing the rights of individuals in the face of human rights violations and dictatorial oppression. Suu Kyi continues to stand alone in defiance of an unjust and brutal military regime with grace and Gandhi-like resolve.
Throughout 11 of the past 16 years, she has struggled in obscurity, with little or no contact with the world. Due to her perseverance amid growing concern for health and well-being, a determined community of individuals from around the world have rallied in support of Suu Kyi and the plight of the Burmese people.
The video displays his innovative techniques and electronic know how along with his passion for the plight of Aung San Suu Kyi. Besides the ordinary drum kit, Swiss Chris adds electronic pads that when hit with his drumsticks, triggers a multitude of sounds and video that he's prerecorded into his mixing unit. The result is a sound thats like having a backing band, including a vocalist if he wants as well as various video of current news, historic news and just about anything he wants that he gets clearance for.
Swiss has used this technology mainly for his human rights efforts for the Freedom campaign as well as his own organization, Saving With Instruments Samples and Soundz (SWISS). Swiss Chris is also the Music Director and Drummer for 5 time Grammy winner John Legend.

An Inside Look at a Young Iranian Rock Band and Their Music from Within
These boys were arrested last year for playing their rock music. Really! Just for playing rock music!
Iran should be proud of the talent these boys have and let them grow.
Anyway, the boys went to a pretty lousy jail for several months and are now out doing what they want and do best. Communicate with their art. When I talk to them, they all say they want peace in the world. I don't blame them, but they insisted I get the world out for them.
They came to me for help last year and I lost contact not knowing they were part of that roundup of rock bands the Iranian authorities arrested. They have now resurfaced and recontacted me. You can hear it in their music...
They want freedom! They want Peace! They want to express their views..... These boys were arrested last year for playing their rock music. Really! Just for playing rock music! ... more -

Ball and Chain: EuroRock Peace Full Sail Peace Band New Music Video and Pangea Day...
The musicians sailing the world for peace have come up with a new video, "Ball and Chain" about what they have been perceiving from their mission with EuroRock World Peace Tour. And, if you are in Melbourne Florida this weekend, EuroRock is featuring them as well as hosting Pangea Day this May 10th at 2pm till 6. EuroRock is an official Friends of Pangea and will be showing the 4 hour special, live from all over the world in our movie theatre there at the Metro. Many musicians from all over the world will be on hand there for the evening after the Pangea Day showing. Come a day early and a day after for some special treats! Here is some of the lineup:

The Pangea Day Mission & Purpose
Pangea Day is a global event bringing the world together through film.
Why? In a world where people are often divided by borders, difference, and conflict, it's easy to lose sight of what we all have in common. Pangea Day seeks to overcome that – to help people see themselves in others – through the power of film.
The Pangea Day Event
Starting at 18:00 GMT on May 10, 2008, locations in Cairo, Kigali, London, Los Angeles, Mumbai, and Rio de Janeiro will be linked for a live program of powerful films, live music, and visionary speakers. The entire program will be broadcast – in seven languages – to millions of people worldwide through the internet, television, and mobile phones.
The 24 short films to be featured have been selected from an international competition that generated more than 2,500 submissions from over one hundred countries. The films were chosen based on their ability to inspire, transform, and allow us see the world through another person's eyes. Details on the Pangea Day films can be viewed here.
The program will also include a number of exceptional speakers and musical performers. Queen Noor of Jordan, CNN's Christiane Amanpour, musician/activist Bob Geldof, and Iranian rock phenom Hypernova are among those taking part.
What Will Happen After Pangea Day
People inspired by Pangea Day will have the opportunity to participate in community-building activities around the world. Through the live program, the Pangea Day web site, and self-organized local events, everyday people will be connected with extraordinary activists and organizations.
Many of the films and performances seen on Pangea Day will be made available on the Web and via mobile phone, alongside open forums for discussion and ideas for how to take social action.

MY COUNTRY IS THE WORLD: A Citizen of no nation, World Citizen #1 travels on his W...
The extraordinary true story of one man who took on all the nations of the world -- and won!
In 1948, compelled by the pain of war, Garry Davis gave up everything -- a promising Broadway career (he stood-in for Danny Kaye and got 13 curtain calls!), his well-to-do show-biz family, even his nationality – to become the world’s first official world citizen. He embarked upon a bold adventure, crashing borders, scaling cliffs, escaping a concentration-camp and challenging border guards, prison commandants and warring armies on a one-man mission to heal the wounds of war and to prevent World War III.
“If I can show that it is possible for one man to live in a new global space, above the nation-states that divide us, and still survive, then I’ll prove that it is possible for all of us to choose to live in the higher reality that we are already one planet,” Garry declared in 1948.
With Albert Camus and others, he interrupted squabbling of nations at the UN in Paris, calling for world-wide elections to create a world parliament to outlaw war and make peace. 20,000 war-weary Europeans rallied with him to demand that the UN recognize the rights of humanity. The very next day the Soviet Union stepped aside and allowed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to be passed unanimously.
Under the authority of that Declaration, and at the suggestion of Eleanor Roosevelt, Garry founded the World Service Authority in Washington DC, which has issued 2 million world passports, IDs, marriage licenses and other documents. (www.worldservice.org) While some nations reject the world passport, 150 Nations have stamped it with Visas. (www.eworldcitizen.com) Thousands of refugees and stateless people have used the World Passport to gain back their identity—and for many their freedom.
Today Nelson Mandela, Bishop Tutu, Jimmy Carter, and other Elders are calling on a billion people to sign the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and to make a personal pledge to protect the rights of our fellow global villagers. (www.theelders.org)
