Urban Outfitters’ join forces with Geren Ford
Urban Outfitters' is jumping on Target's "guest-designed lines" wagon. (I think Payless, and Express have jumped on too). Urban Outfitters' will feature a capsule collection by Geren Lockhart (designed by Geren Ford).
The line, Hawks by Geren Ford, will hit stores in May and retail for $48 to $128. Ford's contemporary label is sold at Barney's and Saks and retails for $98 to $547 (ouch).
According to the article Urban is taking on a new look thanks to the collection:
"Urban Outfitters is trying to infuse its merchandise with an Upper East Side jet-setting sensibility. The label for the Hawks line reads, 'Start in Texas. Skip to California. Head to New York. Jump Overseas. And Repeat.' It's so hipster, yet so not, which makes us think this could be a huge hit. If pencil skirts start proliferating off the Bedford L stop, at least we'll know why."
Cheaper yet fashionable clothes, always a plus. Urban Outfitters' is jumping on Target's "guest-designed lines" wagon. (I think Payless, and Express have jumped on too). Urban Outf... more -

Spring Summer '08 - Karl Lagerfeld
Being raised around fashion I can not help myself to submerge in the interpretation of its production creative process, the style and design of it. Both my parents were fashion designers and I know how hard is the work that goes behind and around it to produce a single piece of clothe. When I pickup a Collection, everything counts. From the video production concept, music theme choice to the final presentation.
Great Collection Karl!
Thanks!

Daspu: Red Light to Runway
Check out this Brazilian label Daspu... as in das putas ('from the whores'). The designs, models and employees are all working girls in Brazil, and the mastermind behind the label is a former prostitute herself. And they don't just make clothes. They're on a mission to promote the civil rights of prostitutes, promote safe sex, and change the public attitude towards prostitution.
"We are political whores: whores who know what we want, whores with rights and whores with duties to society."

Balenciaga, J. Crew Channel 60s Sci Fi Nerd Blazers
Remember that show "The Prisoners"? The costume from the 1967 hit TV series resembles a this season's Balenciaga blazer and its J. Crew acolyte. Apparently the series is such an integral part of sci-fi culture that even The Simpsons has spoofed the coat's specific cut, lapel, and white piping.
In case you are unaware, "The Prisoner" is a huge cult hit in the UK and Australia, and it's often considered the originator of Sci Fi serial dramas like Twin Peaks and Heroes.
According to Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquire , he sites his inspiration for the blazer, and the rest of his Fall collection, from a fantasy of multicultural girls meeting in dorm rooms.
Sweet.

The biannual gathering of the fashion flock known as Los Angeles Fashion Week has finally shifted out of soul-searching crisis mode. After five years, it is at last looking a lot like the city itself: tapping into the celebrity ether to generate buzz, sprawling with events from Culver City to downtown, cultivating the whole eco-chic movement and bringing back some of its runway stars for a victory lap.
