Ne-Yo and Marilyn Manson to collaborate
Ne-Yo and Marilyn Manson must have heard about Elton John and The Killers releasing a single together ( http://current.com/items/89330535_elton_john_and_the_ki... ) and decided they too wanted to compete for Most Unlikely Collaboration of the year.
In July of this year, Ne-Yo spoke about wanting to do a track with Manson. Now it seems his wish will become reality: "I've wanted to work with him for ages and his people reached out to me when they heard."
"We're obviously two separate sides of the musical extreme but that's what makes it exciting.
People might think it's a strange collaboration, I don't. But don't worry - you won't see me adopting his style. I don't think you'll ever see me in make-up."
The R&B songwriter has put collaborations with Pussycat Dolls and Michael Jackson aside to concentrate on this bizarre hook-up. Ne-Yo and Marilyn Manson must have heard about Elton John and The Killers releasing a single together ( http://current.com/items/89330... more -

Hope for the Radio?
In case you forgot, I just got back from California recently. One thing I’ve come to learn about that state is that even after I know what I’m getting into when I plan a trip there, something still manages to surprise me. The most notable surprise of my trip this time around came way out of left field.
I listened to the radio.
Yeah, I listened to the radio while I was stuck in the rental car in rush hour traffic in Oakland. I’m not sure what possessed me to do this, considering that I am 100% sure that I had CD’s (and decent ones at that) in the car at the time, but I’m glad that I did. I was scanning through channels and stopped upon 89.3, whatever that is. I’ve actually tried to figure out what exactly it is and have come to the conclusion that it’s either a college radio station or an “educational”-type radio station run out of Berkeley. Anyway, I stopped on this station because I heard a voice that sounded rather familiar. And lo and behold, it was Dead Prez being interviewed on the air. The station was even playing their music between interview questions.

Cocaine Cowboys II: Down With The Queen
Charles Cosby’s inviting nature bears the classic sign of a salesman. He’s a skilled storyteller who speaks with a hint of hyperbole, which can occasionally trigger a “you’re being hustled” uneasiness. But Cosby’s salesman-like demeanor is understandable. It’s easy to seem outlandish when recounting the graphic tales of Griselda Blanco.
In the recently released documentary Cocaine Cowboys II: Hustlin’ With the Godmother [click to read], Cosby shares his experience as an associate of famed cocaine distributor Griselda Blanco, a former Colombian drug lord known more for her insatiable bloodlust than her potent product. Though the 2006 documentary Cocaine Cowboys explored several facets of the rampant drug trade in Miami during the 1980s, it was Blanco’s reported viciousness that sparked word-of-mouth for the heavily-bootlegged film.
“When we started meeting celebrities like Janet Jackson or Pharrell, the only thing people could ever talk about was The Godmother,” says the film’s director/producer Billy Corben. “We knew right away that there was more of this story to tell.”

KRS-One Formally Welcomes Soulja Boy To Hip Hop
Soulja Boy [click to read] may have just gotten his most important cosign yet in the Hip Hop arena a few days ago. Bridging the gap on BET’s Rap City, KRS-One [click to read] and Soulja Boy presented their own takes on Hip Hop, as well as showcased the need for rappers to talk to each other rather than at each other.
Defining Hip Hop as “having fun, rapping, dancing, and partying,” Soulja Boy stated he viewed 50 Cent as an “old school” rapper. Laying down a foundational timeline of Hip Hop to supplement Soulja Boy’s reasoning, The Teacha confronted the problem that arises when old school meets new school. “Every 10 years, we get a “new” old school. In [19]87, we thought that 1977 was the best time for Hip Hop. In 97’, we said 1987 was the best era for Hip Hop. Here we are in 200[8], and we’re discussing 97’, 98’…This is showing us first how time flies, and also how new blood is brought into Hip Hop. We can’t be dissing new blood that comes in and expect [Hip Hop] to exist.”

Assassination Plot On Barack Obama?
A group of individuals who made vague threats about assassinating presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama posed no threat to the Illinois Senator, US officials say.
The three men in question were high at the time of their arrest on gun and drug charges but would have been unable to carry out any attack, Colorado federal prosecutor Troy Eid says. Any attempts to kill Obama equaled little more than the “racist ramblings of three meth heads.”
During the arrest of the three men, one suspect attempted to escape by jumping from the sixth floor of a Denver hotel, breaking his ankle in the process.
