Wave powered vessel
The propulsion system works by taking the usually-hindering power of waves to propel the boat forward. Two fins set at the front of the boat generate the power by moving up and down as the waves rock the boat. The fins act much like a dolphin’s tail, pushing the boat as the waves move past them. As if that wasn’t enough, the hull of the boat is made out of a super-thin recycled aluminum and solar power will be used for the ship’s interior electronics. Wave Energy
In 2007, researchers completed the first tests of a system that uses a type of artificial muscle to generate power from the motion of ocean waves.
The system is based on a rubbery material coated with conductive goo that was originally developed as an artificial muscle for robots. The artificial muscle stretches or shrinks when a voltage is applied to it. But the process works backwards, too. That is, when the muscle material is stretched by an outside force, such as ocean waves, it can generate electricity.
Now imagine a network of buoys employing this technology anchored off the California coastline. In 2007, researchers completed the first tests of a system that uses a type of artificial muscle to generate power from the motion o... more -

The Mortal Edge
One gorgeous day, big wave surfers armed with the jetskis, risked their lives and charged some of the largest waves ever ridden on the west coast.
In the early 90's, a California surf spot, Mavericks, emerged into the international spotlight and challenged the widespread belief that giant surfable waves only existed in the Hawaiian Island chain. Then, in 2002, a new big wave was discovered off the 18th Hole of Pebble Beach. After considerable scouting and attempts on a few medium size days, with waves in the 15 to 20 foot range, we realized we had a legitimate big wave right in our backyard - Ghost Trees. Witness some of the most death defying waves ever attempted and see how these surfers prepare to challenge Mother Nature in her most volitale state. One gorgeous day, big wave surfers armed with the jetskis, risked their lives and charged some of the largest waves ever ridden on the... more -
