Depp and Burton reteam for Alice in Wonderland

Johnny Depp is to play the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's forthcoming adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, Disney said yesterday. The news was broken at a special showcase in Los Angeles at which the Mouse house unveiled its plans for the next two years.
Burton's version of the Lewis Carroll fantasy is to be presented in 3D using a mix of live action and performance capture CGI. Little-known Australian actor, Mia Wasikowska, 18, will play Alice.
The movie, which will start shooting in the autumn, will be Depp and Burton's sixth collaboration. The pair most recently worked together on last year's musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, although their professional relationship goes all the way back to 1990's Edward Scissorhands.
Depp will also take the role of sidekick Tonto in the forthcoming big screen version of the Lone Ranger, Disney said. The firm also announced that it was planning a fourth installment in the hugely popular Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, which features Depp in the role of Captain Jack Sparrow.
During the day-long preview of upcoming projects, held at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland, Disney also said it was bringing forward the date of Pixar's Cars II from summer 2012 to summer 2011.
The multiple Depp roles suggest the Oscar-nominated actor is fast becoming Disney's most important banker. He was certainly happy to play ball yesterday, arriving on stage at the preview event dressed as Sparrow to The William Tell Overture, the Lone Ranger's theme tune. Depp, Law e Farrell - tutti e tre sostituti di Ledger sul set di The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, regia di Terry Gilliam, che lui stava girando quando è morto in gennaio per overdose - hanno deciso di lavorare gratis, e di donare i loro cachet alla figlia di Heath Ledger. Ledger, infatti, non è riuscito a portare a termine il lavoro. Ma per non perdere del tutto il suo contributo alla pellicola, registi e produttori hanno deciso di dividere in quattro la sua parte, affidandone gli altri tre pezzi ad altrettanti attori celebri. E utilizzando, per rendere credibile questo alternarsi di volti per un unico personaggio, l'escamotage di uno specchio magico che trasforma, di volta il volta, le sembianze di Tim, il protagonista. Matilda Ledger star studded gift
The late Heath Ledger's daughter Matilda was spotted skipping along the streets of NYC yesterday with her mom Michelle Williams in the cutest pink sundress. Every time I see a photo of the 2-year-old I can't believe how much she looks like her dad. He definitely lives on through her.
As most of you probably know, Heath was filming Terry Gilliam's "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus" at the time of his death. Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell stepped in to complete Heath's role, playing different versions of his character "Tim."
When the three actors learned that Ledger's will had not been updated to include his daughter, the generous trio decided to donate all the money they earned from the film to little Matilda!

Johnny Depp and Terry Gilliam are filming 'Don Quixote' ...again.
Seven years after abandoning their first attempt, Johnny Depp and filmmaker Terry Gilliam are trying once again to shoot the film The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.
In one of the most incident-prone shoots ever, the original attempt to film the flick suffered a variety of accidents, including the set being washed away by a flash flood and one the lead actors taking ill. After just five days of filming, Gilliam was forced to pull the plug on the project.
Since then, the failed movie has found fame as the subject of 1992's hit documentary Lost In La Mancha.

Johnny Depp Has The Best Speech At The MTV Movie Awards
Of all the speeches I saw from the 2008 MTV Movie Awards last night…Johnny Depp’s was the best. Johnny never ceases to amaze me. When he came up to accept the award for Best Comedic Performance (in Pirates of the Caribbean) he just took the moment in. He is so famous that you think that he would be used to people screaming at him…but he is the most humble celebrity I have seen. I loved that he really didn’t have a speech and that was the real Johnny. He said a lot by saying nothing.
