Kathy Lee Gifford bashes pagans on The Today Show!
On Wednesday, June 25, 2008, during a live broadcast of a wedding reception on The Today Show, Kathy Lee Gifford gratuitously referred to pagans as "nasty, bad Pagans." Ms Gifford's hate speech has done harm to American pagans' ability to live in peace with our neighbors of other faiths. By allowing her hate speech to be broadcast, her direct employer The Today Show, and their network, NBC, participate in that hate speech.
This is a petition calling for, at the very least, an on-air apology. A Today Show program devoted to dispelling misconceptions about pagans and paganism would go a long way toward undoing the damage.
Signers of this petition are also putting the sponsor of that Today Show segment, Samsung, on notice that we are conducting a boycott against them until such time as we receive justice.

Obama 'monster' aide quits
A senior foreign policy adviser to Barack Obama was forced to apologize Thursday night for describing Hillary Clinton as a "monster" during an interview with a Scottish newspaper, a major embarrassment to the Illinois senator who promised voters he wouldn't engage in the politics of personal destruction.
During an interview with The Scotsman, Samantha Power, one of Obama's unpaid advisers, said Clinton would stop at nothing in her zeal to seize the lead from Obama.
The adviser resigned yesterday. The comment threatened to be an embarrassment for Obama, who has criticized Clinton for what he called her negative campaign tactics and has stressed his commitment to rising above political bickering. Aussie Aborigines now planning to sue
After receiving an apology from the Australian government to the thousands of Aborigines who were taken from their families as children under now discredited assimilation policies, representatives have now announced they plan to file compensation lawsuits for the past abuses. The government has ruled out a compensation fund, and legal experts say the apology does not help the case of the Aborigines vying for money in the courts. Not to be a total cynic...but I'm sure the Australian government took that into account before making the apology.
The question then is, what is an apology and the acknowledgment of wrong doing worth? Seems to me it's better than nothing for its symbolic and emotional weight, right? "Australia will issue its first formal apology to the country's indigenous people on Feb. 13, a senior minister said Wednesday, a step that could ease tensions with a minority once subjected to policies that included removal of mixed-blood children from families on the premise that their race was doomed."

DNA Scientist is Sorry
A Nobel prize-winning geneticist who sparked a furore after claiming that black people were less intelligent than white people moved to quell the row last night with an apology.
That is not what I meant. More importantly, there is no scientific basis for such a belief.
He claimed to be baffled at the words attributed to him by The Sunday Times Magazine. I cannot understand how I could have said what I am quoted as having said. Oops, Our Bad!
Mattel is making history, folks! For the first time in recalls-from-China history, the company that issued the recall of goods manufactured in China has now admitted that there was a design flaw in the recalled toys that was their own fault, not that of their Chinese manufacturers.
