Robot Controlled Robot
"If you think robots might one day control human beings, then you are right, because the process is already underway. The Viking mega-robot “Little Big Man” is controlled by another robot, which makes it believable to think that robots might eventually control humans too. The tinier robot is placed within a neon cave in the bigger Viking’s radio cabinet chest.
Showcased at the San Jose Museum of Art, the robot was built by Nemo Gould. Nemo has also built other robots such as the “Above It All,” which has a tripod-like design and follows the same pattern of having a robot within a robot. The toad, the deer, and the blink, which is made of recycled materials, are some of the other interesting robot models by Nemo Gould..." Di-Cycle: A Bike That Travels Over Land and Water
"Right off the bat the Di-Cycle design is eye-catching. Imagine the looks you would get pedaling this down the road, smashing into cars and bumping old ladies off the sidewalk. Now imagine the looks you would get when you turn sharply toward the neighborhood pool, ride in and mow down all of the swimmers flailing around in the water trying desperately to escape. Apparently that pleasant dream is possible with this bizarre looking contraption. Unfortunately, you are going to have to rein in your bicycle blood lust for now. The Di-Cycle is only in the design phase at the moment..." "Right off the bat the Di-Cycle design is eye-catching. Imagine the looks you would get pedaling this down the road, smashing int... more

One Percent Water is an exhibition curated by Ilse Crawford and Jane Withers that explores the social and environmental impact of water.
The exhibition features work from artists and designers including Brandon Ballangéem, Lucy Orta (top image), Fulgaro, Ideo and Doshi Levien (above).
And yet - largely through the way we use and abuse this precious resource - we face a water crisis and many of the ways we use water today are no longer appropriate to our future. 1%= percentage of drinkable water in the world. Lexus Nuaero concept
Does one reach for a camera or a can of RAID when the Lexus Nuaero concept pulls into the driveway? Sure Jon Rådbrink's design looks incredibly cool, fast and futuristic; but then again I've also spent the last few minutes looking over my shoulder to see if Sigourney Weaver was about to burst from the wall in a load lifter to do battle with it in my office. As it turns out, there's a lot more to this design than just looks, and Rådbrink believes the car's "low weight and large presence" will be the way premium cars could be manufactured in the future. Oh, and it's loaded with tech, too.
To drive this catamaran-inspired luxury car, the driver would use a drive-by-wire steering pad and a completely customizable multi-point touch screen. Rådbrink contends that our hands are far more accurate for driving than our feet, so he's eliminated pedals. Everything is controlled via the steering wheel. "Since the car is powered by electrical motors [found in each of the four wheels]," Rådbrink says, "there is no transmission and you break intuitively by pushing the steering wheel away from your body."
The kicker is that this 14.5-ft. car is designed with lightweight materials meant to increase mileage and efficiency. How light is light? Try roughly the same weight as the diminutive SMART fortwo. "I believe that this design paradox of low weight and large presence could be the way we’ll define premium in the future," Rådbrink said. Just don't forget the futuristic airbags if this ever makes it into production. Does one reach for a camera or a can of RAID when the Lexus Nuaero concept pulls into the driveway? Bicycle Adds A Futuristic Look To Commuting
When it comes to commuting to work, individuals are stuck with two choices: riding in a four-wheeled vehicle or walking. There used to be three choices, but nowadays it seems like no one enjoys riding a bike to work anymore. But that might change with one new concept from Thomas Jowen.
The inventor has added another project to his portfolio with “One”, a futuristic bike that’s ideal for commuters. Along with looking very unique and stylish, the “One” is a curvy method of transportation that can be carried around in a compact form after use. Can’t find somewhere to park your bike while you do your daily job? No problem, the innovation eliminates that hassle.
With oil prices on the rise, Jowen’s project is an answer that can definitely help gas guzzlers and their transportation issues. But it may not impress bicycle enthusiasts. With no special features aside from being able to fold, the “One” is pretty much a simple bike. Another problem could be comfort. Even though the design looks sturdy, the bicycle seat looks rather uncomfortable. When it comes to commuting to work, individuals are stuck with two choices: riding in a four-wheeled vehicle or walking. There used to... more -

A Train That Doesn't Stop For Passengers
The above video (note: it's in Taiwanese), demonstrates a rather interesting concept by Taiwanese inventor Peng Yu-Lun for a train that never stops. He correctly points out that trains would be far more efficient (and on-time) if they didn't have to go through the trouble of, you know, stopping to pick up passengers, Unfortunately, at present not stopping for passengers would mean, well, no passengers. Yu-Lun's design solves that problem with a kind of "top-mounted boarding shuttle that is scooped up when the train passes one station and automatically deposited when it reaches the next stop." See the video to get a better sense of how it would work. An interesting concept, though one wonders about its practicality. On day 260108 of the New Calendar, article 3 of the "Liberation Act" established by the reunited governments of the WestFederal Union declared that no human being would ever be allowed again to produce, share or perform any form of artistic expression able to induce mass cultural development and gathering.
C.G.I. operatives from the Central Governing Institution persecuted such "criminals" with the accusation of stirring masses to cause social disorder.
Any visual, written or auditory expression of art had been strictly forbidden ever since.
Film and music production became the highest conceivable expression of crime.

Camo Collector
It's safe to say that Owen Thornton has found his niche. The 40 year old Thornton has made a name for himself selling vintage camo clothes.
