Malawi, il viaggio degli studenti romani
Anno 2007 dopo Cristo.

2007 a.C. In a part of the planet Earth richness and the privilege to live for a small percentage of universal people. At the other end, on the biggest part of the livable terrestral territory, the 80% of population has no right to the most basic needs just to survive.
This is not the story of a science fiction. This is the normality of every day in Africa and in many other countries of so called Southern world. That's what was discovered by the students of 21 schools from Rome in travel with the ex major of the italian capital Walter Veltroni during the journey to Malawi from april the 27th to may the second 2007.
I've been in Malawi as a reporter of Dire, an italian news daily press agency. I made my job as a "normal" journalist, sending everyday my "takes". But the most important work I was making there was to be a real multimedia journalist, following with my camera several people, the real "guest stars" of this journey.
This is the first video about the travel in general. Anno 2007 dopo Cristo.

Episode 3: Outside the Wire
Because IEDs are one of the biggest threats and there had been deaths recently, it becomes the central issue of this episode. All the missions are outside the wire, so going anywhere will put your life at stake. In the beginning there is a prayer, a little preparation, test fire and its on the roads. I address my own fear because this was the first time I felt really afraid in my life. I run around and do a lot of crazy things, but it was a new kind of realization of fragility and surrender to fate. We look for IEDs pass through remote towns and finally reach FOB Four Corners, a remote base with a handful of guys. Life on this base is a bit different, more relaxed perhaps, a quick snap shot of the guys with a final note about the danger they face not on the roads, but in their beds from incoming. Because IEDs are one of the biggest threats and there had been deaths recently, it becomes the central issue of this episode. All the... more

Flying in Afghanistan
Rough cut. This episode is a journal entry style. Because I happened to be in Afghanistan on my 25th birthday, it probably made me a bit introspective on the choices we make in life, the responsibilities, and the consequences ... building from end of episode 1. In this episode we meet up with the 82nd Airborne division, and fly deeper into the country via C130 Hercules and Chinook47... finally arriving at FOB Ghazni. In the week preceding my arrival, including one the day I arrived, there had been 3 IED (improvised explosive device) explosions and related deaths - on the same roads I am to find myself driving around on. I meet a soldier my age and take a look at his life here. Rough cut. This episode is a journal entry style. Because I happened to be in Afghanistan on my 25th birthday, it probably made me a... more
