SF Noise Pop Festival - Electropop feat. MSTRKRFT
Saturday night will feature electro/rock hybrid MSTRKRFT. The duo of JFK and ALP have been breaking down the musical boundaries between punk, electro, disco, and more since their work with rock project, Death From Above 1979. Since then, MSTRKRFT has released their well received debut LP "The Looks," remixed tracks for the likes of Justice, Chromeo, and Armand Van Helden (to name a few), and excited dance floors the world over with their extraordinary performances. Expect a new album from MSTRKRFT soon!
Electropop will also feature a number of local talents, including blasthaus residents. And along with the musical portion of the festival, the two-night showcase will include interactive art installations by Bay Area new media artists along with blasthaus' low-tech gaming initiative BOLT (Bureau of Low Technology). Come be a part of history with Electropop, the first annual electronic music showcase at Noisepop Music, Film and Arts Festival.

SF: MSTRKRFT @Mighty 3/1
Before the Ed Banger crew began taking the sounds of Daft Punk's Discovery and flipping them inside-out, Toronto's MSTRKRFT (pronounced like "Master Craft") had the equation down pat. Formed from the remains of Death From Above 1979, the duo of Jesse Keeler and Al-P began dropping gritty club anthems full of fuzzy synths and seductive beats in 2004 -- years before French-based acts like Justice, Uffie, and Sebastian scored dance floor hits. MSTRKRFT
Remixes. Athletic shoes. Sexy robots. DJs Al-P and Jesse Keeler have moved at a rapid pace in the music business. In less than a year they went from quitting the band Death From Above 1979 to scoring a new record deal as the electronic duo MSTRKRFT, then on to curating their own national tour AND having Puma name a very limited edition shoe after them. This is their story as told from a rooftop. Remixes. Athletic shoes. Sexy robots. DJs Al-P and Jesse Keeler have moved at a rapid pace in the music business. In less than a year ... more
