Marilyn Manson band member found dead
Reports are coming in that former Marilyn Manson band member Brad Stewart (a.k.a. Gidget Gein) has died. He was apparently found at his Burbank home yesterday (Thursday, October 9). An overdose is suspected to be the cause of his death, but the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office aren't issuing any details until his family have been notified.
Stewart played bass with Manson from 1989 through 1993. He was fired from the band, and was replaced by Twiggy Ramirez, however his influence remained apparent in Manson's style and music. How to serve absinthe.
Always wanted to know how to serve it:
You've heard Marilyn Manson sing its praises and seen Trent Reznor pour it in the video for "The Perfect Drug” and Kylie Minogue portray "the Green Fairy" (a.k.a. absinthe) in Moulin Rouge. But, what the hell is absinthe? It's a green, sometimes red or black, anise-flavored liquor made with herbs and wormwood that gives you a fuzzier feeling than your average alcoholic beverage. And, this is how you serve it:
The Traditional French Ritual:
Step 1: Pour two shots of absinthe into the glass.
Step 2: Rest the absinthe spoon on top of the glass.
Step 3: Place one to two sugar cubes (to taste) on top of the spoon.
Step 4: Pour another shot of absinthe over the sugar, soaking the cubes with the liqueur.
Step 5: Light the absinthe-soaked sugar on fire and let the sugar burn until it caramelizes and starts melting into the glass. Be careful here: The blue flame is sometimes hard to see. Don't stick your finger in it see if it's on fire - it is!
Step 6: Pour a shot of ice-cold water over the fired up sugar to put the fire out.
Step 7: Stir any sugar that remains on the spoon into your absinthe. Once the water and sugar are stirred in, the absinthe will "louche," which means to turn a milky white-green shade. And, it's time to drink!

Ne-Yo and Marilyn Manson to collaborate
Ne-Yo and Marilyn Manson must have heard about Elton John and The Killers releasing a single together ( http://current.com/items/89330535_elton_john_and_the_ki... ) and decided they too wanted to compete for Most Unlikely Collaboration of the year.
In July of this year, Ne-Yo spoke about wanting to do a track with Manson. Now it seems his wish will become reality: "I've wanted to work with him for ages and his people reached out to me when they heard."
"We're obviously two separate sides of the musical extreme but that's what makes it exciting.
People might think it's a strange collaboration, I don't. But don't worry - you won't see me adopting his style. I don't think you'll ever see me in make-up."

Fur Anarchy Ends At Freedom Fighter Vivienne Westwood's Door

British designer Vivienne Westwood has vowed to go fur free following a meeting with PETA. "We have not used fur of any kind in next season's collection, and have no plans to use it in the future," said a spokesperson for Westwood, who first found fame in the late 70's and early 80's designing punk and post-punk pirate looks for U.K. bands The Sex Pistols and Bow Wow Wow.
It's not the first time Westwood has used her clothes to express what she believes in. In 2005 she joined up with British civil rights group Liberty, designing T shirts bearing the slogan "I AM NOT A TERRORIST, please don't arrest me" to protest against governmental attacks on the principle of habeas corpus after 9/11. Habeas corpus stands as a cornerstone of any free society, and is a common principle in law on both sides of the Atlantic which dates back to the Magna Carta which was signed in 1215.
"When I was a schoolgirl my history teacher, Mr. Scott, began to take classes in civic affairs. The first thing he explained to us was the fundamental rule of law embodied in habeas corpus," says Westwood. "He spoke with pride of civilization and democracy. The hatred of arbitrary arrest by the lettres de cachet of the French monarchy caused the storming of the Bastille. We can only take democracy for granted if we insist on our liberty."
Fans of Westwood include Gwen Stefani, Jerry Hall, Marilyn Manson and Naomi Campbell. The Daily Mantra applauds the designer for standing up for the right of both animals and humans to live freely.

Marilyn Manson has formed a close friendship with his 19-year-old girlfriend?s dad because they both have a penchant for vampires and all things gothic.
The 38-year-old shock-rocker formed the unlikely bond with Evan Rachel Wood?s father after Manson discovered he used to play Dracula onstage.
Asked by Wonderland Magazine whether her parents get on with Manson, Wood said: ?My mom dated rock stars and my dad has played Dracula onstage so they get it.

This past week Dita performed as the mainstage act for the Macy's Passport AIDS fundraiser. She's the spokesmodel for MAC and performed on behalf of the MAC AIDS fund.
