NY girl of my dreams...FOUND!
real life romantic comedy...
From the report:
Camille Hayton has been identified as the "NY Girl of My Dreams," a topic of conversation for several hopeless romantics in New York City.
On Nov. 4, 2007, Patrick Moberg, 21, saw a woman standing across the train tracks in a Brooklyn subway, but lost her in the crowd. In order to track her down, Mosberg got the help of a sketch artist and created a website called "NY Girl of My Dreams" to find her. The website was located at http://www.nygirlofmydreams.com/.
On NYGirlofMyDreams.com, Moberg placed the picture and gave his cell phone number and e-mail address in order to track her down.
Within 48 hours, one of her friends spotted the Hayton's picture on the "NY Girl of My Dreams" site and recognized her. Hayton, a native of Melbourne, Australia, was living in Brooklyn at the time.
Shortly thereafter, Moberg and Hayton began dating in what many considered to be a modern-day fairy tale.
Moberg and Hayton initially appeared on TV and began to garner international media attention for their relationship. However, they began to keep a low-profile, prompting Moberg to shut down the site.
According to Australia's Sunday Telegraph, Hayton said that she dated Moberg for about two months but it just didn't work out. The two are now "just friends," and she "wanted to give it a go so I didn't wonder what if, what if?"
"We see each other now and then and we email quite a bit - I guess that's his forte," Hayton said. "It’s really nice that people embraced the story. It is part of my life now."
Moberg did not want to tell anyone of their breakup "because I loved the idea of people making their own endings to our unusual story."
Hayton, a one-time intern for BlackBook Magazine, now heads the "Looks" section for the August-September issue of Bust Magazine. She also landed a small role on As The World Turns and was an extra on Sex And The City. real life romantic comedy... From the report: ... more -
The FX Movie (A Tribute To Visual Effects)
This short film is a tribute/parody of all those special effect movies I grew up watching with over-the-top non-stop action. Inspired by movies from Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and anything that ILM and WETA are involved with. Happy 1st Anniversary YouTube and Google; Now Move Over a Bit
Time for another roundup, and this one coincides with a notable first-year anniversary: that of Googles $1.65 billion acquisition of YouTube, confirmed on October 9th, 2006.
Since then, the name YouTube has become virtually synonymous with online video sharing. According to Comscore, the website maintains a sizable lead over competitors with 205,593,000 unique visitors per month. Second-place Yahoo Video trails with 48,026,000 visitors. But must YouTube remain the clear winner in the online video space? While they have certainly captured the largest audience - which may in the end be all they had needed to do to secure their position - we shouldnt underestimate the many other companies vying for mindshare.
These are the services we looked at: blip.tv, Brightcove.tv, ClipShack, Crackle, DailyMotion, Sony eyeVio, Google Video, Megavideo, Metacafe, Motionbox, Revver, Spike (ifilm), Stage6, Veoh, Viddler, Vimeo, Yahoo Video, and YouTube. Law Firms go Hollywood, using online video to recruit
Lately, I've seen a lot of companies posting videos about "corporate life" at their respective offices, in an attempt to recruit fresh talent. Everybody from Vimeo with their clever lip sync bit, to Google, Yahoo (employing attractive females in the video, bah!), and now law firms, according to their video. In VC2, we've discussed making a parody, or maybe an actual video, to recruit new hires... please submit any ideas here.
