Judge bars footage of Anna Nicole's breast surgery
A judge ordered a Texas doctor and his wife on Friday not to distribute videotaped footage of Anna Nicole Smith's breast augmentation surgery in 1994.
The order settles a lawsuit filed last year by Howard K. Stern, the executor of Smith's estate, who was trying to stop Dr. Gerald Johnson and his wife from distributing the tapes of the former Playboy Playmate.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff issued preliminary injunctions against the Johnsons more than a year ago before issuing his final decision.
Stern maintained that Smith never consented to the taping or to allowing the footage to be seen by Los Angeles memorabilia dealer Thomas Riccio, who got tapes from the Johnsons, according to court records.
Johnson has said he routinely records surgeries with the patient's permission and promises to keep the video confidential "during the patient's lifetime."
He said he gave Riccio permission to use the video after Smith died of a drug overdose in February 2007 in Florida. She was 39. Riccio's daughter edited the footage into a five-minute tape, scored with music similar to the theme from the film "Jaws."
The Johnsons' Houston-based attorney, Gus Pappas, did not return a message seeking comment Friday.
Larry Birkhead, who fathered Smith's daughter, called the video "truly disgusting" in a sworn declaration issued last year.
"It was clear that Anna Nicole was unconscious during the videotaping, and even more disturbing, the videotape focused on areas of her nude body that were unrelated to the location of the surgery," he said in the declaration.
Stern's attorney, Vivian Thoreen, said all the tapes have been accounted for under the judge's previous orders. She said the other terms of the settlement are confidential.
Although the Johnsons live in Texas, the Los Angeles Superior Court still has jurisdiction because the physician allegedly tried to disseminate the tape in Los Angeles County, said attorney Bruce S. Boob jobs force shops to stock bigger bras
Increasing numbers of breast enlargement operations are forcing shops to stock larger bras.
Sales figures from Debenhams, the High Street retailer, indicate that British women now have bigger busts than in previous generations. The company disclosed that the average bra sold is now an entire size bigger than it was just five years ago.
Demand for G cups has risen sharply in recent years and larger sizes - those in size D and above - now make up the majority of the company's entire bra sales (63 per cent).
Sharon Webb, a specialist lingerie buyer at Debenhams, said: "It is clear that Britain is now entering the age of the fuller bust. "Some of the increase has undoubtedly been due to poor bust measuring techniques in the past - our results show that many women are often between one and two cup sizes larger than they realize. In addition, women now have their bust size measured more frequently as they grow older, taking into account the changes in body shape which occur because of pregnancy, age and weight gain.
She continued: "There is no doubt that the popularity of surgical breast enhancements is also having a major impact on the average bust size. It is sometimes possible to tell who has had a helping hand from surgery, because the relationship between the women's back measurement and cup size is altered dramatically." Mama's Milk Ice Cream Cone, Anyone?
Mooove over, Holsteins. PETA wants world-famous Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream to tap nursing moms, rather than cows, for the milk used in its ice cream.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is asking the ice cream maker to begin using breast milk in its products instead of cow's milk, saying it would reduce the suffering of cows and calves and give ice cream lovers a healthier product.
The idea got a cool reception Thursday from Ben & Jerry's officials, the company's customers and even La Leche League International, the world's oldest breast-feeding support organization, which promotes the practice — for babies, anyway.
PETA wrote a letter to company founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield on Tuesday, telling them cow's milk is hazardous and that milking them is cruel.
"If Ben and Jerry's replaced the cow's milk in its ice cream with breast milk, your customers — and cows — would reap the benefits," wrote Tracy Reiman, executive vice president of the animal rights advocacy group. She said dairy products have been linked to juvenile diabetes, allergies and obesity.
Ashley Byrne, a campaign coordinator for PETA, acknowledged the implausibility of substituting breast milk for cow's milk, but said it's no stranger than humans consuming the milk of another species.
"We're aware this idea is somewhat absurd, and that putting it into practice is a stretch. At the time same, it's pretty absurd for us to be drinking the milk of cows," she said.
It takes about 12 pounds — or 1 1/2 gallons of milk — to make a gallon of ice cream. Ben & Jerry's, which gets its milk exclusively from Vermont cows, won't say how much milk it uses or how much ice cream it sells.
As a standardized product under federal regulations, ice cream must be made with milk from healthy cows. Ice cream made from goat's milk, for example, would have to be labeled as such.

Secretary complained breasts were too small - so boss bought her new ones!
A secretary complained in an interview that her breasts were too small, her boss stumped up €4,000 for a boob job.
Claudia, who stripped down on camera when she was the February's BILD Girl of the Month, came back to show us the astounding results – a 75E (36DD) bust!
In her interview with BILD after being chosen by readers, Claudia revealed that she thought her breasts were “much too small” and said: “With my height of 1.80 metres, a 75B [36B] just looks pathetic.”
When her boss, business consultant Marco Bauschke (29), heard of the problem, he immediately stepped in and offered to pay for breast enhancement surgery. He said: “Claudia does a great job at the firm. I see the €4,000 for a breast enhancement as a raise.
“I wanted to fulfil her dream, that’s why I paid for the new boobs.”
Claudia took her boss up on the offer and on May 31, she underwent surgery, planning to bump up her boobs to a 75C (36C). But she was in for a very big surprise after the operation: “Instead of 75C, the doctor gave me 75E – a slight communication problem,” she explained.
Although it took her some time to get used to her new look, Claudia said: “I am completely satisfied now.”
Her only complaint: “I had purchased €100 worth of bras in size 75C. Now I have to throw those out and go buy some in E!”

"What do we want? To walk around topless! When do we want it? Now!" Over 50 women demonstrated for their right to walk around topless in Venice Beach, California, to the delight of male onlookers.
There certainly weren't many men who were arguing with the foxy feminists as they marched down the street armed with posters and bare chests. "We want to show our breasts" shouted the feminists, who were fighting for equal rights with men.
One of the pretty protesters said: "It's not right that men in the USA are allowed to walk around topless, and not women." Women who bare their breasts in public face, according to the state, a hefty fine or even prison. The demonstrators said they just want to be able to go topless on the beach, and sun their breasts at open air swimming pools.
Naked protests also took place in New York, Miami, Denver, Chicago and Hawaii, as part of national GoTopless protest day in the US.
Women will also go topless and demonstrate in Denver, where the four day democratic party conference is taking place.

'Wrong bras' can damage breasts, biomechanics warn
Women who wear the wrong bra could be damaging their breasts, the breast biomechanics team at the University of Portsmouth has revealed. The study shows that poor support could lead to fragile ligaments in the breast being stretched.
The research team tested about 50 bra designs on hundreds of women during the past three years. Wendy Hedger, one of the scientists who carried out the work, said: "Many women have strong preferences for certain styles of bra and won't buy anything else.

Artists make jewelry from human breast milk
A group of French artists, commissioned for an exhibit to examine the early relationship between mother and infant, have designed a line of jewelry made out of … breast milk.
The jewelry is made by boiling human milk mixed with vinegar.
The process causes the casein protein in the milk to harden into plastic, which then can be molded and painted.
The “milk pearl” necklaces, bracelets and other objects created by the design collective Duende will go on display later this year in Paris.
Other objects in the exhibit include dishes and containers for storing and burying human placentas.
The collective say it envisions the day when all mothers will be able to send a bottle of their milk to a laboratory to obtain a permanent memento of their pregnancy.
