Former Clinton staffers jump to McCain - First Read - msnbc.com
Former Hillary Clinton campaign staffers charged Obama with being too inexperienced for the presidency, shifting their support to McCain, on a conference call sponsored by the McCain campaign Friday afternoon.
"Obama really doesn't have the experience,” said Miguel Lausell, senior national political advisor to Hillary Clinton. “We don't know what he's going to be doing. We don't really know where he's coming from, and that's the big difference."
Luchy Secaira, former Sen. Hillary Clinton Delegate-at-Large, said that
stance on women’s issues is all talk and no action. Secaira said that Obama’s rhetoric on the Equal Pay Act is not backed up with hiring practices in his Senate office.
"We need to look no further than Sen. Obama's own senate office, where it's been documented that he pays women less on his staff than males on his staff,” said Secaira. “He talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk."
“The Hispanic community has nothing to fear, because they know John McCain,” Secaira added. “He has fought against his own party on behalf of the Hispanic community and was an integral part in trying to bring forth comprehensive immigration reform.” Former Hillary Clinton campaign staffers charged Obama with being too inexperienced for the presidency, shifting their support to McCa... more -
Will Palin Get the Same Scrutiny Hillary Got? -
So now we learn that Sarah Palin did not go to visit troops in Iraq, as the McCain-Palin campaign originally claimed, nor did she visit Ireland, as a spokesman claimed – she went through Ireland only for a refueling stop. Good reporting by the Boston Globe got to the truth of the matter. The McCain- Palin campaign was forced to concede the facts, but only after being pressed.
There’s a pattern here, two patterns actually. So now we learn that Sarah Palin did not go to visit troops in Iraq, as the McCain-Palin campaign originally claimed, nor did she visi... more -
Analysis: Palin Smears Intensify ....Hillary may have the last laugh !
This doesn't help! Obama needs his good intention surrogates to stop!
After selecting Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, Sen. John McCain has soared in the polls -- taking a 10-point lead over Sen. Barack Obama in the Gallup daily tracking poll among likely voters.
The development has shaken many in the major media who are strongly backing Obama, a Democrat. His allies have now launched an all-out offensive against the first GOP female vice presidential candidate.
Worrisome for the Obama camp is the momentous effect Palin has had on women. Before her selection, Obama led McCain among white women, 55 percent to 37 percent.
The most recent poll data out last week shows 53 percent to 41 percent in favor of McCain. ABC News called it "one of the single biggest post-convention changes in voter preference.''
Such political attacks have been backed up by vicious personal smears.
Comedian Bill Maher cracked a tasteless “joke” involving Palin’s Down syndrome child -- and referred to her as a “stewardess.” In the monologue of a recent HBO show, Maher noted that Palin has five children, including an infant “that has Down syndrome. She had it when she was 43 years old. And it looks a lot like John Edwards.”
Also notable was US Weekly magazine, whose cover story featured Palin and the headline “Babies, Lies & Scandal.”
Asked by Fox News Megyn Kelly to identify any “lies” Palin had uttered, US Weekly Senior Editor Bradley Jacobs could not offer any.
Just months ago, the same weekly had published Barack and Michelle Obama on the cover with the headline “Why Barack Loves Her.”
Meanwhile, the media has been elevating minor controversies in Palin’s home state of Alaska to national “scandals.” For example, the firing of a state trooper who allegedly Tasered his own 10-year-old son has been elevated to an international human-rights case.
The latest line of attack on Palin is focused on her strong Christian beliefs. She has been labeled a wacko fundamentalist who doesn’t believe in evolution. (Interestingly, several polls show most Americans don’t believe in it, either. A 2006 CBS poll found that just 13 percent of Americans believe in scientific evolution, and most Americans believe life was created and guided by God.)
The pro-Obama bias has not only affected Palin and the GOP. During one Democrat debate earlier this year, Sen. Hillary Clinton referenced a “Saturday Night Live” sketch that showed CNN moderators bending over backwards to help Obama.
Hillary may have the last laugh as the Republicans, with Palin leading the charge, are stealing the women vote – a bloc Hillary solidly owned and one she could have brought home to the Democratic Party on Election Day. This doesn't help! Obama needs his good intention surrogates to stop! ... more -
Live-Blogging Day 2 of the 2008 DNC: The Hillary Kerfuffle
This article discusses and compares Michelle Obama's DNC speech given Monday evening to Hillary Clinton's convention speech given Tuesday night. Michelle's presentation was found to be fearless in its passionate reminder for us to “strive for the world as it should be,” and a brave defense of maintaining hope in the sometimes difficult pursuit of our dreams.
On the other hand, Clinton's address to the convention's delegates is found to be yet another display of the now well-known Clinton congenital narcissistic conviction of personal and political entitlement. In the end, Hillary's speech was all about her.
The article presents great photographs, a re-playable live-blog of Tuesdays events at the Democratic convention, two videos (including a video of Hillary's speech) and a remarkable photo-gallery that documents the entire course of Obama's presidential campaign, and is accompanied by music audio. Hillary's not the VP
There’s one Democrat who would seem to have little or no chance of being picked by Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) to be his running mate – his former opponent, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.).
But it’s not for the reason you think.
Obama has often said, most recently on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on July 27, that Clinton “would be on anybody’s short list.”
But apparently not his.
“She was never vetted,” a Democratic official reported. “She was not asked for a single piece of paper. She and Senator Obama have never had a single conversation about it. How would he know if she’d take it?”
The official also said Clinton never met with Obama’s vetting team of Eric Holder and Caroline Kennedy.
And the official said she was never asked for medical records or for any financial 2008 information about her or former President Bill Clinton. The last information the couple has disclosed about taxes and financial holdings was for 2007.
The Clintons also were not asked about donors to the William J. Clinton Presidential Library.
“This would be the biggest leap of faith ever,” the official said. “She’s waiting for the text message like everyone else.”
An Obama aide said "absolutely exhaustive research was done on her over the course of the 16 month primary. She was researched more closely than any candidate in history." Ralph Nader predicts Hillary as Obama's VP
“I don’t think he’s that dumb,” said Nader, commenting on widespread speculation that Obama’s choices are down to Sens. Joe Biden, Evan Bayh, or Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine.
The smart pick, according to Nader, is Hillary Rodham Clinton. Nader phoned into Politico Tuesday afternoon to offer his prediction that a surprise nod to Clinton is actually what Obama has in store—never mind the talk of mistrust between the Clintons and Obama.
“He just has to swallow hard and do what JFK did” in picking rival Lyndon Johnson in 1960, said the liberal activist and maverick presidential candidate.
According to Nader’s logic, Obama may dislike Hillary, but will conclude he has no choice but to get over it if he hopes to leave next week’s convention in Denver with a unified party and a decent shot against John McCain in the fall: “The polls show 25 percent of her supporters have not gotten on board.” “I don’t think he’s that dumb,” said Nader, commenting on widespread speculation that Obama’s choices are down to Sens. Joe Biden, Eva... more -

Hillary to appear on ballot at Democratic convention
WASHINGTON, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- The leadership of Democratic Party has decided to put Senator Hillary Clinton's name on the ballot alongside presidential hopeful Barack Obama at the party's national convention late this month.
The symbolic move was intended to soothe a lingering rift between Obama's camp and Clinton supporters, the website of New York Times reported Thursday.
The decision was reached earlier this week, and will be announced later in the day.
It comes after negotiations on both sides, with many Clinton supporters vigorously pushing for her candidacy to be validated by giving her delegates the chance to support her through a roll call vote.
Clinton was defeated by Obama in the presidential primary election early this year, but party rules allow her name to appear on the ballot at the convention in a symbolic voting which will formally give Obama the party's presidential nomination. Wis. Democrats oust delegate over McCain support - Yahoo! News
MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin Democrats on Friday ousted a delegate to their national convention for saying she would vote for Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain in November.

Embarrassed by a defection in their ranks, the Wisconsin Democratic Party's administrative committee voted 23-0 to strip Debra Bartoshevich of her status as a delegate to the Denver convention next month.
Bartoshevich was elected by party activists as a pledged delegate for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton from the 1st Congressional District in southeastern Wisconsin. But after Clinton dropped out of the race, Bartoshevich told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel she would support McCain over Democratic Sen. Barack Obama. Ret. Gen. Clark: McCain lacks command experience
4 hours ago
WASHINGTON (AP) — Retired Gen. Wesley Clark, a former Democratic presidential candidate now supporting Barack Obama, said Sunday John McCain's military service does not automatically qualify him to be commander in chief.
Underscoring during a national television appearance a position he has been expressing for several weeks, Clark said performing heroic military service is not a substitute for gaining command experience.
"In the matters of national security policy making, it's a matter of understanding risk," he said on CBS' "Face the Nation." "It's a matter of gauging your opponents and it's a matter of being held accountable. John McCain's never done any of that in his official positions. I certainly honor his service as a prisoner of war. He was a hero to me and to hundreds of thousands and millions of others in the armed forces, as a prisoner of war.
"He has been a voice on the Senate Armed Services Committee and he has traveled all over the world, but he hasn't held executive responsibility," Clark said. "That large squadron in the Navy that he commanded — that wasn't a wartime squadron."

Google Trends proves mainstream media '08 election corruption
Jerry Day uses Google Trends to show how relative web traffic compares to mainstream media election coverage. Easily illustrating the bias in the media and how they've managed to marginalize the true candidates for our nations desire for "change".
If people in this country really want change, they'll start realizing that their news sources are as corrupt as the politicians they are pushing on us, and they'll turn off their TV and start looking elsewhere for their news.
Makes you wonder why they picked Obama over Hillary. Makes you wonder why they'd pick a Republican candidate that represents Bush's values, when America so desperately wants "change".
If you ask this American. It's not going to matter what the Diebold machines tally up this election. All of the news sources will declare a winner come election day just like they did in 2000 & 2004. And the sleeping sheep in this country will take the bait –hook, line, and sinker.
McCain is the patsy that can't win. A truly perfect method to rationalize the choice for Obama.
I can easily predict that Obama will win the election since McCain is being portrayed as "same" and Obama is portrayed as "change". The brand message is set in place. The graphics are ready for the lower thirds. The citizens will feel like they've helped America.
Mission (truly) Accomplished. Let the Obama "lovefest" begin.
