Radiohead score Palahniuk film
If the news that a Palahniuk film is on the way wasn't enough to make you happy, wait to hear who's in charge of the soundtrack.

"Speaking to BBC 6 Music on the Shaun Keaveny Breakfast Show, Palahniuk explained it all came from his love of the band’s music, saying: 'Clark Gregg, who directed the movie version of Choke which comes out on September 26 (in the US), he knew that I’d written Choke while listening to Radiohead’s Pablo Honey, with Creep, over and over and over. So Clark got Radiohead to contribute a song; to write a song for the very end of the movie, the final credits. Apparently Radiohead liked the movie so much, they’ve written the score, most of the ambient music throughout it. So it’s Choke – with the music of Radiohead." Footloose album in a whole new light
Doveman, aka Thomas Bartlett, has made a cover of the Footloose album in its entirety. But it won't have you kicking off your blue suede shoes. It's a hushed take on the 80s soundtrack inspired by quite a sad story. Bartlett's friend lost his sister about 20 years ago and he only knew her by her possessions. He was going through her things and found her Footloose tape. So he gave the lyrics to Bartlett (who had never heard any of the songs, apparently) and had him re-interpret the entire soundtrack to help him deal with his grief. What the two created is a masterpiece, in my opinion. You'll never listen to these songs the same way again. Doveman, aka Thomas Bartlett, has made a cover of the Footloose album in its entirety. 'Juno' soundtrack tops US chart
The movie was awesome enough, but the sound track just made it even more awesomer (I know that is not a word).
The soundtrack got a little boost also because of the movies 4 Academy Award nominations last week.
Further, this is the first time a release from 30-year-old label Rhino Records has hit Number One.
Score for the little guys. The movie was awesome enough, but the sound track just made it even more awesomer (I know that is not a word). ... more -

Music Called Invisible Character in Film
There's already Oscar buzz circulating around Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe for their roles in "American Gangster." But those involved with the movie are hoping that talk extends to the music in the film as well.
The 1960s and '70s-era soul music featured in the movie, out on Friday, is its invisible character, says Kathy Nelson, president of film music for Universal Pictures, who helped put together the music for "American Gangster."
Some of the songs are classics, like Sam & Dave's "Hold On, I'm Coming." But because licensing music can be expensive, Nelson told The Associated Press they had to be creative at times.
