So here's the deal. After 2004, voters in states that were not Iowa or New Hampshire felt a little disenagaged from the process of choosing the Democratic Presidential candidate. While the Dems rely heavily on the electoral votes of California and New York (among other more urban states) in the national tally, when it comes to the primaries, tradition dictates tiny New Hampshire and potentially forgettable Iowa get to choose.
