Firefighter killed by gun shot on the scene
Ryan Hummert, 22, a firefighter in Maplewood, Missouri (suburb of St. Louis) was responding to a call about a pick up truck that was in flames. He arrived to the scene to help save lives and by a horrible twist of fate his life was taken. Not by the fire but by a gunman hiding in a house across the street. Two other policemen were then shot but only Ryan's shot was fatal. The gunman set the car on fire to lure firemen and cops there to shoot them and then set the house he was in on fire which is to believed to be his own. There is no known motive and it has not yet been determined whether the gunman killed himself in his burning house or ran away. This has been a horrible event for the St. Louis area and all those who knew and loved Ryan. Please keep his family and friends in mind and in prayers. Do you have questions about 9/11 or the war? Follow a step by step timeline.
I Guarantee you will not regret it. http://www.911pressfortruth.com/story
Following the attacks of September 11th, a small group of grieving families waged a tenacious battle against those who sought to bury the truth about the event—including, to their amazement, President Bush. In ‘9/11 PRESS FOR TRUTH’, six of them, including three of the famous “Jersey Girls”, tell for the first time the powerful story of how they took on the greatest powers in Washington—and won!—compelling an investigation, only to subsequently watch the 9/11 Commission fail in answering most of their questions.
Adapting Paul Thompson’s definitive Complete 9/11 Timeline (published by HarperCollins as ‘The Terror Timeline’), the filmmakers collaborate with documentary veterans Globalvision (‘WMD: Weapons of Mass Deception’, ‘Beyond JFK’) to stitch together rare overlooked news clips, buried stories, and government press conferences, revealing a pattern of official lies, deception and spin. As a result, a very different picture of 9/11 emerges, one that raises new and more pressing questions.
What actions were taken by top government officials who received dozens of specific warnings before the attack? Was Osama Bin Laden and his top al Qaeda leadership allowed to escape U.S. forces in Afghanistan? And what has been the reason for the deliberate obscuring of evidence for state sponsorship? Perhaps the most important one of all: Why, five years later, are so many of the families’ questions still unanswered?
It was only due to pressure from the 9/11 families, led by a particular twelve calling themselves the Family Steering Committee, that, fourteen months after the attacks, the first hearing finally began. These twelve remained active in monitoring the Commission’s investigation, providing a list of hundreds of specific, well-researched questions to the Commissioners. In the end, the Final Report failed to answer seventy percent of them.

Yesteryear’s New York: The Belly of the Beast
During the 1970s and 80s, an adventurous blonde named Jill Freedman with a quick eye for the unusual and bizarre focussed her camera upon the spirited characters and gritty sidewalks of a now-bygone era in New York City life. This modernist documentarian was a self-taught photographer who captured raw, intimate images in black and white, transforming urban scenes into theatrical dramas.
Freedman’s portrait of New York reflected a fallen city that was strewn with piles of garbage. Prostitutes and bag ladies walked the streets, while junkies staked out abandoned tenements next to children playing in vacant lots. For reasons involving both a shift in photographic styles and her own declining personal circumstances, Ms. Freedman faded from the popular scene in the late 1980s. But today, at a moment when much of Manhattan is awash in money and glamour, Freedman’s photographic legacy offers us a vivid portrait of a metropolis once defined by violence, poverty and disarray, a New York that once was.
Photographs, a video and photo-gallery are included. During the 1970s and 80s, an adventurous blonde named Jill Freedman with a quick eye for the unusual and bizarre focussed her camera u... more -

Firemen saw ring off mans penis
When not fighting fires or rescuing Mr. Whiskers stuck down a drain, the brave members of the UK fire brigades are sometimes called upon to assist in the most unusual of circumstances.
Take for instance, this story from Fridays Metro newspaper: A 40-something man somehow got a metal ring stuck at the end of his penis. When doctors at Wigan Infirmary failed to remove the ring, they called in the fire-fighters. The victim was anaesthetised before firemen successfully cut the ring with a mini-grinder.
No points for guessing how the ring ended up on the mans privates.
