Cindy McCain's $300,000 outfit for the RNC!
It caught Vanity Fair's attention when First Lady Laura Bush and would-be First Lady Cindy McCain took the stage Tuesday night wearing some rather fancy designer clothes. So they asked their fashion department to price out the outfits.
here's the breakdown:
Laura Bush
Oscar de la Renta suit: $2,500
Stuart Weitzman heels: $325
Pearl stud earrings: $600–$1,500
Total: Between $3,425 and $4,325
Cindy McCain
Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000
Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500
Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000
Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000–$25,000
Shoes, designer unknown: $600
Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100
Wow! No wonder McCain has so many houses: his wife has the price of a Scottsdale split-level hanging from her ears.
(All prices except Laura’s shoes and Cindy’s watch are estimates, and the jewelry prices are based on the assumption that the pieces are real.) It caught Vanity Fair's attention when First Lady Laura Bush and would-be First Lady Cindy McCain took the stage Tuesday night we... more -
Palin Expert on Russia "because they're right next door"
In an interview with George Stephanopoulos Cindy McCain states " You know, the experience that she comes from is what she’s done in government, and remember, Alaska is the closest part of our continent to Russia. It’s not as if she doesn’t understand what’s at stake here."
It doesn’t appear that Palin has ever even traveled to Russia, despite her state’s proximity. In fact, she didn’t even have a passport until 2007, when she visited troops stationed in Kuwait and Germany. She has also visited Ireland.

Cindy McCain's drug addiction highlights press double standards
Cindy McCain used to take drugs. Lots of 'em. She even stole them from her own charity relief organization. But that's not the bigger story. Why does the "fist bump" greeting of Michelle Obama get more press than Cindy McCain's drug use and theft? Can you imagine what a field day Fox and others would have if this story was about Michelle Obama??!! Cindy McCain used to take drugs. Lots of 'em. Tesco refuses beer to man shopping with daughter
A man was told he was not allowed to buy bottled beer by a cashier at his local Tesco, because he had his teenage daughter with him.
Dominic Zenden, 45, was told he would not be served at the shop in Norwich in case he gave any to his 15-year-old daughter, Devon.
Mr Zenden told The Times: "I was dumbfounded. There was absolutely no indication that my daughter would be drinking the alcohol. It was for me. I fancied a nice cool beer on a warm evening. But the woman told me that they don't sell alcohol to people who have children with them."
Shops such as Tesco have been forced to clamp down on sales of alcohol to under-18s, and face fines of up to £10,000 if caught. A man was told he was not allowed to buy bottled beer by a cashier at his local Tesco, because he had his teenage daughter with him. ... more -

Big Beer Merger
Coors and Miller are merging their U.S. and Puerto Rico operations (they make beer in Puerto Rico?) in a deal that's expected to save them $500 million of cost savings 3 years after completion of the merge. Execs are saying there will be no closures of breweries, and that in fact, expansions might be made possible by the move (perhaps one way they'll save money is by putting the same stuff in the bottles of the different beers! No harm, no foul, since they all already taste the same!). The new company will be called MillerCoors...and still won't be as big or as rich as Bud. Talk about an industry leader!
