    • Fake Pound Coins On The RIse

You might think forgers would go for the easy option and make one £300 million pound note. But that's a stupid idea, apparently. Instead the Royal Mint says that the number of fake pound coins has doubled in the last few years. You might think forgers would go for the easy option and make one £300 million pound note. • Obama's Birth Certificate : CHANGE you can believe in.

Why alter a Certificate of Live Birth? If it makes you the most powerful man in the world - why not?

The analyst is an active member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, American College of Forensic Examiners, The International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners, International Information Systems Forensics Association - the list goes on. He also a board certified as a forensic computer examiner, a certificated legal investigator, and a licensed private investigator. He has been performing computer based forensic investigations since 1993 (although back then it did not even have a formal name yet) and he has performed countless investigations since then.

      Here is his analysis:

(You'll find the full report at http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2008/07...

For some odd reason, this website doesn't believe in that website, sorry to make you go the long way around, but it is an interesting read@)

I have decided to leave out the low level technicalities and the how-to section of this report due to a lack of time and more importantly I want to get the facts out as quickly as possible. As some of you may or may not know some asshat decided to track me down and vandalize my car and hang a dead mutilated rabbit from my front door in a lame attempt to intimidate me from proceeding with releasing any details of my analysis. They did succeed in delaying the report by a few days but instead of deterring me they just really pissed me off. To their credit, if I had not taken a few days off from the analysis I would have missed the most damning piece of evidence – the remnants of the previous security border. So to the demented retard who slaughtered an animal to make a point – f*ck you and thank you. And because of the amazing number of violent psychopaths who seem to be drawn to this issue, I am not going to use or supply any details that can be used to identify the owners of the COLBS used in the analysis except for those which have already been publicly disclosed. If the owners want to come forward on their own that is entirely their decision. "

    • Buchanan Under Fire

ANP: Congressman Vern Buchanan's campaign is under fire as former employees accuse him of corruption.

American News Project: Congressman Vern Buchanan, of the 13th district in Florida, is facing increasing trouble in his reelection campaign. A first-term congressman and a long-time autodealer, Buchanan is being sued by a remarkable number of former employees and customers at the very height of the campaign season. So far, seven separate legal complaints have been filed against Buchanan, accusing him of flouting campaign finance laws, defrauding banks and customers, and even smuggling undocumented immigrants into the country to work on his beachfront house. ANP traveled to Florida to investigate the story.

    • Fake Egyptian sculptures showcasing at the Brooklyn Museum

The Brooklyn Museum, which recently announced its prized collection of stone sculptures from ancient Egypt was cluttered with fakes, is planning an exhibit with these pieces to raise awareness of forgeries in the world's art collections.

"We really have to face the fact that mistakes are made in museums just as they are made anywhere else," Edna Russmann, curator of the museum's Egyptian, classical, and ancient Middle Eastern art, said this week. "Museums are in the habit of hiding these things away."

The exhibit, "Unearthing the Truth: Egypt's Pagan and Coptic Sculpture," is set to open next February.

Russmann says she was long suspicious about some of the museum's 4th to 6th century Coptic, or Christian Egyptian sculptures, acquired before she joined the museum. Some scholars had already raised doubts about their authenticity and several years ago she decided to put the question to rest.

A three-year inquiry found that of the 31 Coptic sculptures, most were either retouched in some way or entirely fake. Some were repainted or reworked, and about a third were modern forgeries made of Egyptian stone.

Russmann said it is probably too late to find out who made the fakes, but the show could prompt other museums around the world to take a closer look at their collections.

"Any museum in this country and most of the important museums in Europe who have Coptics have the bad along with good," she said.

    • Did the White House order forgery?

According to a new book out from Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Ron Suskind (formerly of the Wall Street Journal), the CIA, at the request of the White House, forged a backdated letter "from" the head of Iraqi intelligence "to" Saddam Hussein that discusses Mohammad Atta training for the 9/11 mission in Iraq...thus making a link between Al Qaeda and Iraq.

The letter itself has been written about before - it was passed to a journalist in 2003 and was written about as a genuine letter, discussed on the news show circuit etc.

The White House and then-CIA director George Tenet are adamantly denying the claims.

Ron Suskind is a pretty well-respected journalist and author, and Journalism 101 teaches you not to make claims like these unless you trust your sources. But they are huge allegations... Thoughts?

    • One third of Brooklyn Museum’s Coptic collection is fake

LONDON. A third of the Coptic sculptures at the Brooklyn Museum of Art are modern fakes. Its collection of late Egyptian sculpture was, until now, the second largest in North America. Brooklyn curator Dr Edna Russmann, who is concluding a study of the works, warns that other museums which acquired Coptic sculptures in the past 50 years are likely to face similar problems.

The unmasking of the forgeries will be revealed in an exhibition on “Coptic Sculpture in the Brooklyn Museum”, opening on 13 February 2009. The Art Newspaper can reveal that ten of Brooklyn’s 30 sculptures are now deemed to be complete fakes, with over half the remainder having been recarved and repainted in modern times.

The fakes were mainly bought in the 1960s and 70s, and can be traced back to major antiquities dealers in New York and in Switzerland, to where they were shipped from Egypt. Dr Russmann believes that the dismissal of these works will encourage scholars to “re-evaluate Coptic art”.

What is striking about the fakes is that they place a greater emphasis on Christian iconography than the authentic works. This reflects market demand for such imagery in Europe and North America.

    • Dallas man tries to cash $360 billion cheque

A man has been accused of attempting to pass a $360 billion check, which he claims was given to him by his girlfriend’s mother to start a record business, Fort Worth police have said.

The personal check was not made out to Mr. Fuller and when the bank contacted the check owner, the woman said she did not write a check for $360 billion.

"Ummm, no. I don't think I've made out any cheques for $360 billion today."
