Nicole Kidman to be the female Indiana Jones?
Nicole Kidman has signed up for the lead role in a project conceived as being to the Indy films what Bourne is to Bond.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Kidman is to headline the Indiana Jones-style tale The Eighth Wonder. Kidman might not be the most obvious choice for an adventure movie, but this is hersecond action adventure gig of the past couple of years. She recently wrapped work on Baz Luhrmann's epic Australia, in which she plays an English aristocrat who reluctantly makes a pact with a stock-man (Hugh Jackman) to protect her sprawling ranch from a takeover plot.
Kidman will produce and also star in the film, which will centre on an archaeological discovery that sets off a race which spans the world. Nicole Kidman has signed up for the lead role in a project conceived as being to the Indy films what Bourne is to Bond. ... more -

Sunday Rose? Mystery of Kidman's baby name revealed
The mystery of Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman's name choice for her daughter has reportedly been solved, with Kidman's father saying "Sunday Rose" was inspired by an Australian arts patron notorious for her lurid love life.
Antony Kidman said the unusual name chosen by Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban was first suggested by him and his wife, who drew inspiration from prominent Australian arts patron Sunday Reed.
"I have read a bit about Sunday Reed and her husband John. She was a key mover and shaker in the arts around the beginning of the century. The name Sunday struck me as being a nice name for a woman, so my wife and I mentioned it," Antony Kidman told the Daily Telegraph newspaper on Wednesday.
Sunday Reed lived for nine years during the 1930s in a three-way love triangle relationship involving her arts patron husband and one of Australia's best-known artists, Sidney Nolan. She eventually became Nolan's muse.
Nolan is best known in his homeland for a series of stylized paintings of famous outlaw Ned Kelly, who battled police in an armored suit and whose final days were turned into several films variously starring Mick Jagger and late Australian actor Heath Ledger, who died of a drug overdose in January.
Reed committed suicide 10 days after the death of her husband in 1981.
The Telegraph said Nicole Kidman and Urban had spent a long time looking at a quote by Nolan about birth, hanging in a Sydney art gallery, shortly before announcing Kidman's pregnancy in January 2008. Catholic League Wages Jihad On Golden Compass
Concoct-a-controversy organization, the (Rent-a) Catholic League are asking cinema-goers to boycott the new fantasy film The Golden Compass, claiming it is "candy-coated atheism." The $150 million New Line movie, which stars Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman, opens on Dec 7th. Written and directed by Chris Weitz (whose previous credits include About A Boy), the film is based on the first installment of English author Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy.
Pullman's stories are set in a parallel universe where witches, magical creatures, and animal spirits walk the earth alongside humans, who are governed by a sinister religious organization called the Magisterium, which some have likened to the Roman Catholic Church. A good against evil battle takes place over the course of the books, which culminates in the death of God at the hand of a child.
Ironically many Christians, including Church of England leader, Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, have come out in support of Pullman, claiming his books attack oppressive dogma, rather than religion itself. Despite deliberately playing down the questions of religion in the adaptation of the book to film in an attempt to placate more religious American audiences, the Catholic League are still concerned the film will serve as a gateway to Pullman's literature. They accuse the author of having twin goals "to promote atheism and denigrate Christianity. To kids."
A statement on their website says, "The Catholic League wants Christians to stay away from this movie precisely because it knows that the film is bait for the books: unsuspecting parents who take their children to see the movie may be impelled to buy the three books as a Christmas present. And no parent who wants to bring their children up in the faith will want any part of these books." The league are also flogging a pamphlet entitled "The Golden Compass: Agenda Unmasked" for $5 via their website.
In an interview with the BBC, Pullman dismissed the leagues accusations as "absolute rubbish" saying, "I am a story teller. If I wanted to send a message I would have written a sermon."
The Catholic League, who have a long history of getting upset about things, previously called for a boycott of The Da Vinci Code. The fim went on to top box office charts here in America and grossed $758 million worldwide in 2006.

"Lagerfeld Confidential"
Filmmaker Rodolphe Marconi's new documentary "Lagerfeld Confidential", opened yesterday at Film Forum in Manhattan. The film focuses more on Mr. Lagerfeld as a photographer than as a designer. At least half of the 90-minute film shows him taking pictures of his collections, Nicole Kidman and almost undressed male models.
