A first look at 1o.A.k (1 Of A Kind) of the Honor Roll, an East Bay Area-based collective. • Phife from A Tribe Called Quest

If anyone saw the VH1 Hip Hop Honors show and wondered if Phife from A Tribe Called Quest was sick (he certainly looked it), well the answer is yes. He has Type 2 diabetes and is suffering from kidney failure that requires dialysis. Here's an interview he gave last year discussing his situation and how he got to this point.

If you're a hip hop fan and/or historian, you know Tribe's place and importance. It would be a real tragedy to lose both J Dilla and Phife in a year.
