    • Israelis Unprovoked Attack: B'Tselem cameras pay off for Palestinian victims

Three months ago, the B'Tselem human rights organization gave Muna al-Nawaja a video camera. Nawaja, 24, lives near the Israeli settlement of Sussya, in the southern West Bank. Between caring for her young son and tending the family's sheep, she learned to use the camera, fell in love with it and now carries it with her everywhere.

But its "baptism of fire" occurred last week, on Sunday afternoon. Most Israelis were busy preparing for the Shavuot holiday. But some had a different priority: savagely beating Nawaja's relatives. She managed to capture a few seconds of the beating - in which her 57-year-old aunt was severely injured, and two uncles, age 60 and 33 were hurt - on film. But she never dreamed that it would prove to be the main, and possibly only, evidence available to the police investigating the assault.

Before the cameras were donated to some Palestinians, the Israeli government would never investigate saying, these people are lying and never tell the truth.

When is the hate going to stop? It's clearly the Israeli government that is conducting a genocide in this writers opinion. There has been too much evidence to the contrary... Israeli government taking land that is supposed to be part of the peace pact with Palestine. Israel demanding it owns Jerusalem even though the Palestinians what East Jerusalem for their capital.

Its greed and complete hate from the Israeli government towards the Palestinians that is making the peace prospect all but impossible. Ironically, a majority of Israelis agree that their government is at fault.

Incidentally, I saw the video on cnn and it was horrible. I couldn't find it to post it here, but I promise I will if I find it can convert it....peace,

    • Israel brushes aside U.S. pressure over statehood deal

Israel sought on Monday to lower U.S. expectations for any deal with the Palestinians this year, brushing aside pressure over settlements and calling for decisions on Jerusalem's future to be deferred.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice ended her sixth trip to the region this year with no sign of progress in nudging both sides toward a peace deal by the end of 2008.

Image above is a satellite view of the region needing peace. Let's visualize peace in Israel and Palestine and bring some good vibes to the table. Rice didn't and the Israeli Government didn't.
All the Israeli government needs to do is give back most of the land they illegally took from Palestine. As far as Jerusalem is concerned, both countries want to control it and it is a major obstacle. My idea is to give Jerusalem to an International concern and have both countries in charge. Jerusalem belongs to the world.

Remember, lets visualize peace while looking at the picture of the region there!

    • Peace Is Happening: After 15 Years, Hints of Peace in Burundi

An example for Israel and Palestine to ponder...

Areas that had been cut off for years because of fighting are finally opening up. And a cautious optimism seems to be spreading across the land.

“It looks like peace,” said Ama Hayyarimana, a father of eight. “But you never know.”

After 15 years of off-again-on-again civil war, the last of Burundi’s rebel groups has finally come to the negotiating table. A cease-fire signed in late May is still holding, and for the first time all the decision makers — including top rebel leaders who until recently had been demonized as terrorists and commanded troops from exile — are in the same place, here in the capital, Bujumbura.

OK Israel and Palestine, your turn.

    • Israel is attacking Iran if enrichment continues. Looks like WWIII my friends

An Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear sites looks "unavoidable" given the apparent failure of sanctions to deny Tehran technology with bomb-making potential, one of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's deputies said on Friday.

Israeli government must be playing a game to provoke an attack. Then they can justify the mass murdering of innocent civilians.

    • Jewish Lobby Group AIPAC Role in the world. Is it spying, illegal nuclear missles,...

What exactly is the role of the AIPAC?

Is it merely a lobbying group, or is it an intelligence-gathering network? AIPAC/Israeli government has been caught spying on America, They have broken the most UN treaties.

      What gives?

Will Israel get rid of its 150+ Nuclear missiles? (Illegal according to International law)

Will Israel ever give back land it illegally took from Palestinians? (without giving these people a place to live, basically throwing them to the wolves)

Will Israel ever let medical supplies go thru to to save the lives of many innocent Palestinian woman and children? (If that was done to Britain guess what would happen??)

Will Israel ever stop killing innocent people including reporters reporting on whats happening there?

Why does Israel get away with breaking international law, going as far as diminishing the population of the Palestinians by bocking food and much needed medical supplies. Sounds like (and I'm not saying it is) a genocide being carried out by the Israeli government. Remember, its not the people, it is the government committing these atrocious acts.

Israel needs to be accountable for the laws that have been broken, since other countries are always scrutinized, punished and worse for similar crimes.

Not just Israels security, but the worlds security depends on Israel coming clean and giving the Palestinian people a fair deal, a fair deal that will bring a more peaceful world. In my opinion, Israel is the reason for most of the bloodshed in todays world.

And one more thing...anti antisemitism is not the criticizing of the government or people, it is the hate and racism toward them. Therefore, it is not an acceptable argument with this writer since there is no hate nor racism inferred and I have many friends from many nations, including Israel and Palestine.

      We just want peace.

    • Al Jazeera reports Arabs shocked by Obama speech

Arab leaders have reacted with anger and disbelief to an intensely pro-Israeli speech delivered by Barack Obama, the US Democratic presumptive presidential nominee.

Obama told the influential annual policy conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Council (Aipac): "Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel and it must remain undivided."
His comments appalled Palestinians who see occupied East Jerusalem as part of a future Palestinian state.

Saeb Erekat, the chief Palestinian negotiator, told Al Jazeera on Thursday: "This is the worst thing to happen to us since 1967 ... he has given ammunition to extremists across the region".

"What really disppoints me is that someone like Barack Obama, who runs a campaign on the theme of change - when it comes to Aipac and what's needed to be said differently about the Palestinian state, he fails."

"I say to Obama ... please stop being more Israeli than the Israelis themselves, leave the Israelis and Palestinians alone to make decisions required for peace."

Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, rejected the statement, saying: "We will not accept an independent Palestinian state without having Jerusalem as the capital.

"I believe that case is clear."

He said: "Jerusalem is part of the six points that are subjects on the negotiations' agenda.

"And the whole world knows that East Jerusalem, Arab Jerusalem and Holy Jerusalem were occupied in 1967."

    • Bush-Olmert to meet on Mideast peace and Iran

Israel's fears that Iran could obtain nuclear weapons and the Israeli government's attempts to negotiate peace with the Palestinians and Syria are top agenda items when Israel's beleaguered prime minister, Ehud Olmert, meets President Bush.

"Beleaguered" is an understatement. Both these leaders have some major issues to contend with besides world politics and peace. But Peace, the way the real Mideast and Israel wants are two different things. When the Palestinians meet demands, Israel comes back with something else for the Palestinians to meet. The Israeli government continuously puts another roadblock up so real peace is unattainable. (Read "Center of the Storm" by former CIA director George Tennent)

Israel government needs to give back land it illegally took from the Palestinian people, throwing them out into the street without medical and food supplies and continually making it impossible for these people to live. It is a genocide in the making and something needs to take place to afford these people a way of life. Only then will we see peace and no more bloodshed from either side.

As far as the nukes are concerned, Israeli governments illegal possession of these weapons makes them a axis of evil in this writers eyes. The only reason they are afraid of Iran possessing them is that Iran may step up to the plate and put an end to the crimes Israeli government has committed.

Is this person a sad reflection of a countries government filled with greed, power and selfishness?

Get rid of the corruption in the government (lock em up!) and something positive may come of it. Maybe a new beginning. A clean and peace full coexistence.

    • "Promises" shows the Israeli/Palestinian conflict through children's eyes

"PROMISES follows the journey of one of the filmmakers, Israeli-American B.Z. Goldberg. B.Z. travels to a Palestinian refugee camp and to an Israeli settlement in the West Bank, and to the more familiar neighborhoods of Jerusalem where he meets seven Palestinian and Israeli children.

Though the children live only 20 minutes apart, they exist in completely separate worlds; the physical, historical and emotional obstacles between them run deep.

PROMISES explores the nature of these boundaries and tells the story of a few children who dared to cross the lines to meet their neighbors. Rather than focusing on political events, the seven children featured in PROMISES offer a refreshing, human and sometimes humorous portrait of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

PROMISES, a film by Justine Shapiro, B.Z. Goldberg and co-director and editor Carlos Bolado, was shot between 1995-2000."

    • "Occupation 101: Voices of the Silenced Majority"

"A thought-provoking and powerful documentary film on the current and historical root causes of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Unlike any other film ever produced on the conflict -- 'Occupation 101' presents a comprehensive analysis of the facts and hidden truths surrounding the never ending controversy and dispels many of its long-perceived myths and misconceptions.

The film also details life under Israeli military rule, the role of the United States in the conflict, and the major obstacles that stand in the way of a lasting and viable peace. The roots of the conflict are explained through first-hand on-the-ground experiences from leading Middle East scholars, peace activists, journalists, religious leaders and humanitarian workers whose voices have too often been suppressed in American media outlets.

The film covers a wide range of topics -- which include -- the first wave of Jewish immigration from Europe in the 1880's, the 1920 tensions, the 1948 war, the 1967 war, the first Intifada of 1987, the Oslo Peace Process, Settlement expansion, the role of the United States Government, the second Intifada of 2000, the separation barrier and the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, as well as many heart wrenching testimonials from victims of this tragedy.

Occupation 101 features a leading list of some of the most credible Middle East scholars, historians, peace activists, journalists, and humanitarian workers."

    • Shocking Waterboarding Film the CIA Does Not Want You To See

This film released by Amnesty International gives you a good idea what this technique does to human being. Anyone that says this is not torture must either be insane or a lier. Maybe both!
"The water is poured very carefully over the nose – you keep a constant pour. You are drowning in water but you don't have the ability to hold your breath. You feel the water going in, you understand that water is filling your lungs." "...the technique was also futile, as well as barbaric, as the prisoner would say anything to survive – regardless of its truth."

NOTE: The Current piece by Current producer Kaj is up for a Webby Award and I urge you to check out his excellent film as well. He demonstrates the technique with some professional interrogators.

    • Carter: Hamas willing to accept Israel

The only problem is that Israel and the United States refuse to talk. Israel continues to take land (illegally), Israel continues to put up road blocks (against the peace plan) and Israel continues to kill innocent children and people with their overkill retaliation and not allowing medical supplies into Palestine. Its all about power and greed folks. Here's some info:

n 1992, AIPAC president David Steiner was forced to resign after he was tape recorded boasting about his political influence in obtaining aid for Israel. Steiner claimed that he had "met with (then Bush U.S. Secretary of State) Jim Baker and I cut a deal with him. I got, besides the $3 billion, you know they're looking for the Jewish votes, and I'll tell him whatever he wants to hear ... Besides the $10 billion in loan guarantees which was a fabulous thing, $3 billion in foreign, in military aid, and I got almost a billion dollars in other goodies that people don't even know about." Steiner also claimed to be "negotiating" with the incoming Clinton administration over who Clinton would appoint as Secretary of State and Secretary of the National Security Agency. Steiner stated that AIPAC had "a dozen people in [the Clinton] campaign, in the headquarters... in Little Rock, and they're all going to get big jobs."

Haim Katz told The Washington Times that he taped the conversation because "as someone Jewish, I am concerned when a small group has a disproportionate power. I think that hurts everyone, including Jews. If David Steiner wants to talk about the incredible, disproportionate clout AIPAC has, the public should know about it."

Again, its all about greed and power. Without the AIPAC and simular organizations there would be no problems in the Mideast.
