Al Gore is the Kwisatz Haderach
Frequent readers of TCD will know I have made a few references to Frank Herbert?s Dune series - maybe some of the best science fiction ever written.
What I can?t escape is the close allegories between Dune and the current political climate. It is fun to play at placing the characters around the story. Is Karl Rove part of the Spacing Guild or House Harkonnen - maybe a mentat? Rice has to be a Bene Gesserit. I shudder to think of the role of Barbara Bush in all of this.
Taking this game to the logical conclusion, Al Gore is the Madhi, the off-world prophet that will lead the Fremen and the world of Arrakis to a paradise of green and lush ecology. But there is a price and that price is a loss of spice that the Empire needs in great abundance to continue its reign of power.
That of course makes all of the Gore supporters, Fremen.

Lifting the Veil on the Agenda Behind not Wanting Al Gore to Run for President
Has anyone noticed that there is another movement in this country that is trying to keep Mr. Al Gore out of politics at any cost? This concept is mentioned time and again in articles lately that say that many in government fear Al Gores return to politics because they know that if in fact he does except the peoples challenge to run for president, then he would be unstoppable against any other candidate. Hillarys people shake when they hear talk of Gore running and the top Republican candidates dont even wish to speak of it. Is this a threat because he would reshape the government in ways that would change our country in fundamental ways? I know that both big business and those who run the government at present dont want to see a man of such high moral standards run for this office because they know that the laws that have been so unscrupulously passed to give them unprecedented powers would quickly be revoked. What I dont understand are the individuals who write glowing statements of Al Gores integrity, but say that he would lose all this integrity just by trying to right the wrongs that men of money and power have committed. These men of power have beat down the world with their wars and starved humanity of the very basics in life, and now that Al has shown the world this ultimate betrayal they tremble at the thought of his acquisition of the most powerful position in the world today, that of President of the United States. We should remember the last Presidential Race and the oh-so-underhanded ways that people, pretending to be individuals, lied about the Democratic candidate then, trying to convince this country that Kerrys service was disingenuous. I think what is going on is very similar, but since the people of the world cannot be convinced that Gore is disingenuous they say hes doing much better things for this world as a citizen who speaks from the side lines to the governments and corporations. They essentially are twisting common sense, saying that if Gore is effective as an individual that he somehow will be less effective by taking on the role of President. When in fact, if Mr. Gore listened to the call of the people, he could do all the things he has wanted to do throughout his life. We all recognize that any great task will take more than one man to accomplish, but if one man doesnt start this movement, and the world follow him then we are doomed to extinction. Great change has always started with one man brave enough to stand up and say something is very wrong then it spreads through the consciousness of the rest of humanity. Al Gore is the one man who has opened up the consciousness of the many and now he should lead the way to greater accomplishments. He has trained many others to do the work that he does now. He now needs to lead the world to a better way of life and doing business. I have many ideas as to how to help accomplish this and hopefully my next article will be able to cover that. First I thought I should speak to those who were confused or concerned by these nay-sayers who have tried to cloud the issues by pretending to be a friend of Al Gore. When in reality,.0 these people are overcome by the shear numbers of us that want to see this government and our world changed that they have reverted to underhanded tactics. They stroke him with one sentence and then dismiss his morality with the next. If any of you out there understand and have also seen this then please comment on it here, and please let others know that there really is another movement out there that is trying hard to keep Al under wraps so that they can continue their rein of terror and degradation upon this world. Peace and Power to the People! RUN AL RUN!! Has anyone noticed that there is another movement in this country that is trying to keep Mr. Al Gore out of politics at any cost? This... more

The Goresque Statement
from - http://www.towncalleddobson.com/?p=922
A lot of bandwidth has been used for the phrase Shermanesque Statement in reference to Gores plans about the 2008 Presidential race. Gore is not one of those guys who uses words in an unmeasured fashion. From his years in Congress and the White House, Gore is known for his precise language. He has even been accused of being a total geek about it.
When he said he will not make a Shermanesque statement about his plans to run, I seriously doubt he pulled that out of thin air. Lets look at the origins of the phrase.
The term derives from the Sherman pledge, a remark made by American Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman when he was being considered as a possible Republican candidate for the presidential election of 1884. He declined, saying If drafted, I will not run; if nominated, I will not accept; if elected, I will not serve.
Gore had to have known what the actual quote was. Hints at the future? Portents? Chicken entrails? The imagination runs wild.
it is obvious to Gore and his staff that there is a HUGE movement afoot to draft him to run for 2008. I know, I called his office and they added me to a list of hundreds that call on the typical day. So if he ISNT going to run, why not just say time has passed for me to consider a run in 2008? Why NOT make that Shermanesque statement?
Could it be if drafted, he will run; if nominated, he will accept; if elected, he will serve?
We can only hope. from - http://www.towncalleddobson.com/?p=922 ... more -
Wherefore Al Gore
Follows the progress of a campaign in Western Massachusetts to place Al Gore on the ballot for the Democratic Party primary. This is an interesting effort, thoroughly grass-roots, being undertaken by some 230 similar groups around the country. With Gore having just won the Nobel Peace Prize, an Oscar earlier in the year, huge international recognition and unencumbered by the negatives attached to the front-runners in the Democratic field, Gore supporters think he represents the best chance for the Democratic Party to capture the White House in 2008. President Al
Rockin' Rob Hicks performs President Al (in the style of Paul Simon's You Can Call Me Al), as his animated alter-ego 'Ramblin' Rob'. Original and borrowed lyrics combined with original music to a familiar beat & melody line (melody not exact but 'in the style of' You Can Call Me Al) all for the SOLE PURPOSE OF ENTERTAINING AL GORE INTO RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT IN 2008 (as seen on YouTube/rockinrobhicks).

Global Warming and the 2008 Campaign
Global warming should be the top priority issue of the 2008 Presidential campaign, so that there will be a mandate for major policy changes in the next Congress. The candidates announced so far are not taking global warming seriously. I have concluded that Al Gore must run for President, with global warming solutions as his top priority, so that he can lead the USA to make the necessary changes. Markets say "Gore would obliterate any of them, were he to run."
Just as I suspected. Seems the Invisible Hand of the Market has decided.
According to Robin Hanson of Portfolio.com, Al Gore is the most electable erm candidate beating Hillary, all the Democrats, Giuliani and all the Republicans.
Seems you Americans are ready to get serious. Be nice to have you back in the Reality based community.
Quoting from said piece:
"Which means that InTrade's traders reckon Gore has a 58% chance of getting the nomination if he runs, and an 89% chance of winning the presidency if he's nominated, and an all-over probability of 52% that he'll become president if he throws his hat in the ring."
The blog article goes on to say:
"Meanwhile, the favorite for president, Hillary Clinton, has already thrown her hat in the ring, and is given a 48% chance of becoming president. (Giuliani's in a distant second place, on 17.6%.) Which means, I think, that Al Gore is considered to be the best presidential candidate in America, on a pure electability criterion."
He also just happens to be the best qualified person for the office.
Socrates said that any person who sought political office too readily was to be mistrusted. He said that only a person who sought office because they feared what others may do with it was acting from good intentions. Those Greeks, eh?
I recommend putting "The Assault on Reason" on your reading list btw. Some helpful hints in there for restoring the Constitution, saving democracy and so forth.
Cheerio. Just as I suspected. Seems the Invisible Hand of the Market has decided. ... more
