NYC Police Beat Up Rap Group Members Rebel Diaz
By Davey D & Jenny on the Block
Looks like the NYPD are living up to their reputation of being bonafide 'dipshits'. We are just getting word that NYC Police located in what was once known as Fort Apache-the 41st Precint in the Bronx, have shown that police terrorism is alive and well. The word is in a unprovoked attack they badly assaulted two members of the Rap group Rebel Diaz.
The story we are hearing is that group Rodstarz and G1 were up in Bronx on Southern Blvd in Hunts Point, when they noticed the police were harassing a street vendor who was selling fruit. The two went over to witness the cops in action and when they saw the police being abusive they pulled out a cell phone to video tape the incident and asked for the officers badge numbers.
Keep in mind that part of the Bronx has a large immigrant community and it is also being gentrified. The police from the 41st Precint have made it a point to commit acts of terror including the shooting and killing of an unarmed immigrant man last year. The case brought up images of Amadou Diallo another immigrant was gunned down by out of control Bronx cops in the neighboring precint.
According to witnesses, when Rodstarz and G1 asked for badge numbers the police became agitated and turned around and started beating them with bully clubs and kicking them in full view of other vendors and people on the crowded street. The two were dragged off bloody, put into a police car and charged with resisting arrest and assault.
The backdrop to this story is that Rebel Diaz are not your ordinary rappers. They are well known activist who not only speak out against police terrorism, but have been key in helping out folks within this immigrant community. Hence it would not be usual for group members to bear witness and to speak out against the injustices. Rebel Diaz has committed themselves to given voice to the voiceless in that Bronx neighborhood.
Many feel that the assault by these cowardly Bronx police officers in plain view of everyone was a way to send a strong message to folks in the community that the police run things and they best stay in line. By beating the Rebel Diaz members in front of everyone was a way to spark fear and remind people that no one is safe from the police. They wanna let folks know that they can brazenly beat up popular rappers in front everyone even with cell phone cameras rolling and do so with impunity. The whole ordeal is akin to the slave masters from way back sparking fear in the hearts of other slaves by beating the strongest among them in front of everyone for all to see.
Over the past year NY Police have been man handling, arresting and terrorizing politicized Hip Hop artists, activists and news reporters.
For example, last year in Brooklyn well known attorney Michael Tarif Warren who routinely represents people in police abuse cases was badly beaten along with his wife when they stopped to watch and bear witness to NY cops terrorizing a unarmed tennage boy at a gas station.
During the protests immediately following the acquittal of the officers on trial for the Sean Bell shooting, journalists who had been speaking out against the police were harassed and roughed up.
Hopefully folks will read this and understand that what the police are doing will not work.. A police state will not take place on our collective watch..

Secret chopper patrols NY - you don't even know they're watching you
"On a cloudless spring day, the NYPD helicopter soars over the city, its sights set on the Statue of Liberty.
A dramatic close-up of Lady Liberty's frozen gaze fills one of three flat-screen computer monitors mounted on a console. Hundreds of sightseers below are oblivious to the fact that a helicopter is peering down on them from a mile and a half away.

Smiley Face Killers' Target College Students
Two former New York Police Officers have discovered a link between a series of mysterious drownings of 40 male college students across the country, primarily on the East Coast.
Most of the deaths had been ruled accidental drowining, but thanks to a retired NYPD detective and the determined parents of one victim, police are now ruling these deaths homicide.
Instead of focusing on where the bodies had been found, the detectives tracked water currents to determine where the bodies were discarded. This lead police to discover an eerie link between the deaths - Smiley faces painted on surfaces near the scene of the crime.
Detectives also believe the victims are targeted. All of the young men were popular, athletic and good students.
Since some of the deaths happened almost simultaneously in different cities, detectives are certain this is the work of more than one individual.
There were additional graffiti-like symbols found near the scene of the crimes, but those are not being released in detail to prevent copycats.

NYPD sued for not investigating missing African-Americans
"From almost the very beginning the police refused to assigned sufficient manpower, or take the case seriously. When Carmichael called to report her daughter missing after the initial 24 hour waiting period she was told, "Lady, why are you calling here? Your daughter is 21. These officers should not have taken the report in the first place." The next day, April 26, the complaint was marked "closed." Her family repeatedly begged officers to investigate Ramona's case. It took a plea from a local politician that was contacted by the family for a case to even be "re-opened"."

Highest Ranking Black Cop, Racially Profiled by the NYPD
So how do you prove that a city's police department is corrupt and committing racial profiling?
Maybe when the highest ranking black member of that very police department, is stopped, and confronted for no other reason but being black, and in a SUV. (oh the cops said they saw a gun... likely answer...I'm still wonder just how thats possible before you approach a vehicle...but no need for details) Needless to say the officer who made this fatal error in judgement, immediately lost his badge and gun. Swift punishment huh?
Does it happen that way when the black guy isn't a high ranking official in the NYPD? I'll let you answer that.
Checkout both articles....

Plainclothes officers in trouble - didn't recognize off-duty chief
At least one cop has been disciplined for ordering the NYPD's highest-ranking uniformed black officer out of his auto while the three-star chief was off-duty and parked in Queens, the Daily News has learned.
"How you can not know or recognize a chief in a department SUV with ID around his neck, I don't know," a police source said.
One officer walked up on each side of the SUV at 57th Ave. and Xenia St. in Corona about 7 p.m. and told the driver to roll down the heavily tinted windows, sources said.
What happened next is in dispute.
In his briefing to Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, Zeigler said the two cops, who are white, had no legitimate reason to approach his SUV, ranking sources said.
After they ordered him to get out, one officer did not believe the NYPD identification Zeigler gave him.
The cops gave a different account:

Study: NYPD gunfire less than a decade ago, despite recent shootings.
The New York City Council and the New York Civil Liberties Union have been examining police gunfire in New York City.
They've found that police fire their weapons less than they had a decade ago.
But this report comes at a time where tensions are high over the acquittal of officers in the Sean Bell case.
The study found that:
"In 77 percent of all shootings since 1998 when civilians were the targets, police officers were not fired upon, although in some of those cases, the suspects were acting violently: displaying a gun or pointing it at officers, firing at civilians, stabbing or beating someone or hitting officers with autos, the police said. No one fired at officers in two notable cases — the 1999 shooting of Amadou Diallo and the 2006 shooting of Sean Bell."

NYPD seeks security at ground zero site
Since Sept. 11, 2001, turf wars have flared up between city police and the state-run police force in charge of ground zero security. In recent weeks, the skirmish has heated up.
The city's police department has proposed taking the lead on security at the site, which is owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, an agency run by the governors of those states. The New York Police Department's chief concern, officials say, is the risk of truck bomb attacks, particularly at three office towers to be built along reconstructed city streets.
"We have what they have," said Gus Danese, president of the Port Authority's police union. "We have the joint terrorist task force. We have a response team. We have emergency services. We have an aviation unit. We have canines, bomb detection dogs." Since Sept. 11, 2001, turf wars have flared up between city police and the state-run police force in charge of ground zero security.
