Superintendent Threatened over Spanish Pledge of Allegiance
For many years now, Edgerton High School in Wisconsin has allowed students in its Spanish class to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish over the Intercom one day of the school year. It also invites foreign exchange students (the school now has three) to say it in their own language.
This year, when Spanish students recited the Pledge on March 11, it caused a ruckus.
Parents complained. They demanded that the Spanish teacher, the principal, and the superintendent be fired. And they intend to press the issue at the school board meeting on April 28. Angry NO DON'T DO THAT People Ruin the Fun of the World....sad.
People do all kinds of things I think is just plain stupid. I'm not going to keep them from doing them. If they ask me if I want to do it I'll just respectfully decline.
That's what I think about prayer in school. Let it happen and if you don't like it this is the time to just not participate. What does it matter if there is prayer in school? Like the Pledge of Allegiance having 'under God' in it. People are getting all bent out of shape over it. Guess what you can do...not say it. I know...shocking.
So what if it's said around you. Don't say it for yourself. I think Evolution is the dumbest thing to ever be created by a human mind but I sat there in science class and paid attention to what was going on and laughed on the inside. I didn't stand up and scream at the teacher for teaching it. I didn't storm out of the class. I didn't decide to protest the school for teaching a baseless theory.
I just don't get people's NEED to make people like them. People claim it's the "seperation of church and state" but it's more along the lines of them being afraid of Religious thought for whatever reason they are afraid. The idea that they are being objective or trying to protect the rights of others is laughable.
Look at the court and who went to court to fright to uphold freedom of speech the days after 9/11. Was it anyone who dislikes "under God" in the Pledge? Was it anyone that screams and yells because of the mention of prayer in school?
No.
Look it up and see who fought for freedom of speech. It not only helped them in what they wanted but it inadvertently helped everyone. People like that are rare.
People like those that scream and yell and want everyone to be as depressed as they are...ruin the world.
Don't pray in school if you don't want to.
But why keep those that find comfort in it without? People do all kinds of things I think is just plain stupid. I'm not going to keep them from doing them. If they ask me if I wan... more
